Looks like Gotye will be returning to number one next week, bad news as Emeli is not performing at the Brits next week, I can see it being a non mover though 2-2 what is quite impressive consedering the chart run of Daddy.

I was a little bit surprised at how high these were. But then I figured they're always randomly re-entering the top 100, so I didn't think anything of it.

696. Redd ft. Akon & Snoop Dogg - I'm Day Dreaming

^ Wasn't that top 100 like just a week ago!? :o Now THAT is what you call free-falling. Well deserved though, since it's an awful song (basically Sexy Chick with some female vocals). Doesn't deserve to be selling anything.

Fix You's 59p again?! I swear that's the third time in a row  not that I'm complaining though, hopefully that and Mr Brightside will get another top 75 week next week

Not so - he does have a sizable fanbase (he can draw thousands to see him live - has a few festival headliners lined up). He just doesn't churn out top 40 friendly music on the regular basis (with I Remember and Ghosts n Stuff being the only two notable exceptions, which both went top 20).

It's a shame 'Animal Rights' never made the top 40, deadmau5's best song IMO.

-x-

Gotye seems to now be benefiting from the weekend effect :o As well as the single version being back at #1, the album versions are up to #36 and #51! Good to see it at #1 again I guess (although I'm loving Hot Right Now just as much at the moment if not more so it's a shame to see it falling off #1 after only six days). He's definitely looking like the favourite for #1 next week at the moment.

Emeli is literally JUST behind DJ Fresh so I think Fresh will probably drop to #3 next week, or maybe #4 if GCH are big enough.

Mr. Brightside back in the top 100 :D

27. Emeli Sande - Read All About It Part 3  Lets hope this is single 4 from the album.

I can see 'My Kind Of Love' being single 4.

I just think Read All About it would be a perfect choice for Single 4, but regardless I believe it will be a single. The song is fantastic and I am glad to see it so cherry picked.

I am delighted that Emeli Sande will have three songs in the top 40 come Sunday, fully deserved and quite a good accomplishment, was the last person to do that Adele, David Guetta, Gaga?

I think only Heaven and Next to Me will be in the top 40 next week. Read All About It was released on a Monday, so I think it needs to be a lot higher than #27 to make it in officially. But I hope it does get in.

The most recent person to have three songs in the top 40 was Rihanna last week, with We Found Love, Take Care and You Da One.

Nicki Minaj would've managed it this week if Give Me Your Luvin' wasn't looking set to drop out the top 40. Whitney Houston also has a chance of having 3 songs in the top 40, but I think she'll only end up with two making it tbh.

Read All About it was in the Friday Chart meaning in the official charts it will most likely be around 41-43, So I think it will sneak top 40, just hopefull thinking!

I am quite surprised with how much Madonna has flopped with Give Me Your Luvin, I can't see the album selling nearly 500,000k tbh. It's funny that People will expecting I Will Always Love you to be in the top 3 this week, It will be lucky to remain in the top 20 at the rate its dropping.

I wish iTunes would reduce a *different* selection of songs to 59p - say some Kylie, or Dido, or Delta Goodrem, or Katie Melua ones... :P

Seriously though, they *do* need to extend the range of songs they reduce - it often seems to be the same ones over & over again. :(

Why would she release that as her next single when she has already had a #1 track with Prof. Green with Read All About It, she be better off releasing something else.

Emeli Sande MUST release My Kind Of Love as the next single. I geniunely think it would be BIG

Didn't do Alicia Keys any harm when 'Empire State Of Mind (Pt II) Broken Down' was released. :D

Also odd to think that Gotye could actually end up going 01-03-01. The power of the held back release just means all its momentum is built up in its first 3/4 days of sales and by the end of the week starts to tail off. As Gotye has gradually climbed his way to the top, it's continued selling whilst more people become aware of 'STIUTK' hence why the track is back to #1. The video airplay has only increased in the last fortnight too. 'Hot Right Now' has been getting video airplay since mid-January.

I don't think 'Ass Back Home' will sell enough to be #1 next week - should easily go top 5 though.

Gotye's track is one of the best tracks I ever heard for a while now its easily my favourite #1 of the year so far. Its different to what there is in the chart at the moment. Its still #1 on my personal chart. Love the track to get back to #1 next week, to be honest I don't think "Ass Back Home" is #1 material, and there is nothing else that could go to #1 next week, unless the BRITs have some effect on one odd track.

The only track that could knock Gotye of the top is when Dappy releases his new single that's if Gotye gets there first, Mick Jagger didn't do nothing on Will's track, hopefully it be the same for Brian May.

Dappy will definitely be #1 :(
Dappy will definitely be #1 :(

Get that terrible thought out of your head. :o

Urgh!!! Now that you mention it, it probably will be. Dappy to single handedly destroy a decent chain of UK #1 singles. Well, it was going to happen sooner or later. :(

I quite like the new Dappy single, it's not as good as 'No Regrets' but it's not awful. I don't think it's a guaranteed #1 at all though, I wouldn't be surprised if Gotye holds him off. Not to mention Chiddy Bang's Ray Charles (out on the same week) has periodically been doing better on pre-orders and Madeon's Icarus was also way higher than Dappy when it briefly appeared on the feed (before vanishing because it's a single and shouldn't be there - therefore expect that to make a high new entry on the feed a week from tonight :P) I'm definitely Team Madeon if there's the slightest chance of that going #1 but I'm expecting more of a low top 10 hit at best.

To be honest, I think the songs they choose to reduce are specifically done so as to get as many people to use the deal as possible. Most of the songs iTunes reduce tend to fall into three categories I've noticed:

1. Songs that have had recent exposure due to being sampled or covered, being on an advert, featuring in a TV show, etc. (e.g. A Thousand Miles, Alone, Regulate, etc.)

2. Newly promoted songs that are in the chart that people might be considering buying (e.g. Kiss the Stars, The Motto, Never Be a Right Time, Fight For You, Paradise, etc.)

3. Classic songs that people might see and think "Hey I love that, may aswell buy it then" (e.g. Fix You, Candy Shop, Lose Yourself, Iris, Hot in Herre, In Da Club, Stronger, etc.)

I don't think they're going to have a whole load of obscure songs in the 59p section (the artists you mentioned are in no way obscure, but you know what I mean ), since they want as many people as possible to use it, if that makes sense. And they also probably try and have a variety of songs discounted to cater to people with different music tastes, so again, more people can use the deal.

I'm sure some Kylie and Dido tracks would see big boosts at 59p though. They both have many songs which I think would fit into catergory 3. Dido did get a 59p song once though, via Stan.

Dappy's new song is a bit too similar to No Regrets to me, but I still like it. A top 3 of Dappy, Gotye and Chiddy Bang would be amazing!!! I can see Dappy certainly getting to the top end of the chart, but I can't see Chiddy Bang doing to sell, since, as I was ranting on about the other day, the song is too "empty" to do well in the UK.

Excellent to see "Niggas In Paris" doing so well, up to 48 now. It's been a really popular song in the last few months (in this country as well as over in the US) but I doubt many of the people I know who love it will have legally downloaded it so it needed more mainstream exposure to do this well. Glad to see it's getting it.

It was really weird to me to hear lots of people quoting lines from Niggas in Paris in everyday conversations (usually "That shit cray"), and then I'd check iTunes and see it at #827. And then a song that I've never heard anyone talk about, or heard anybody listening to would be sitting at #3 or something.

Emeli Sande up to #2 :cheer:

Nicki Minaj down to #7

LMFAO up to #502
