March 10, 201213 yr This is a PERFECT way of describing what kind of effect 'Euphoria' has. There is something purely euphoric about every second of that chorus, and I'm just honestly waiting for it to appear when I'm listening to the verses, although lately I've realised how important it is to have everything else so low key, as that does hugely empower the glorious transcending of the chorus! The more I think about it, the more 'Euphoria' sounds like the uptempo younger sister to 'Bleeding Love' (or maybe it's just me :P ). If Leona Lewis had recorded 'Euphoria' and released this as her eagerly awaited comeback single last year (rather than the below par 'Collide'), it would've been a monster hit across Europe. Likewise with Loreen, if 'Euphoria' manages to make it all the way to the final and win Eurovision, I'm almost sure that this will be a no. 1 hit across Europe post-Eurovision (similar to 'Fairytale' or 'Satellite').
March 10, 201213 yr And a UK #18 SMASH! Oh, that's generous. I was thinking more #39 SMASH. :D 'Fairytale' was a genuine one off. That said, if iTunes actually made the Eurovision songs available to download prior to the contest, people might actually download them following their performance on the night. We might even *gasp* see 3 or 4 Eurovision songs in the UK Top 40 if they were popular enough (yes, including Jedward <_< ).
March 10, 201213 yr Perhaps I'm being blinded by my unrelenting loony love, but I genuinely think that Euphoria could beat the 'curse' of ESC winners not charting well, especially of they release it straight after the contest. Radio really should pick it up, it's quite similar to a David Guetta track that Capital would rape, except obviously SO much better!
March 10, 201213 yr I still don't get why they wouldn't allow Eurovision songs to be downloaded the moment the official album comes out?! And why wait 5 days after the show to release SOME of them? If it's the UK iTunes decision, then the company is run by a bunch of morons.

Blue AND Jedward both made the top 40 last year :D 2007 and 2009 were the best years for Eurovision charting in the UK, Scooch went to #5, Verka was top 30, Serebro went top 100 and I'm sure Molitva and The Ark weren't far behind. And then in 2009 we had Fairytale in the top ten, Yohanna just outside the top 40, Waldo's People at #100 (just made it ) and Malena in or around that area too... But yeah, it's rare that we get a Eurovision SMASH here unless it really appeals to people universally, because it has to sell purely off the back of one (or two if it wins) performance, and gets no exposure from elsewhere. I'm surprised Fairytale even managed a second week in the top 40, it might as well have been one of those Facebook campaign songs looking at its chart run :drama: Perhaps I'm being blinded by my unrelenting loony love, but I genuinely think that Euphoria could beat the 'curse' of ESC winners not charting well, especially of they release it straight after the contest. Radio really should pick it up, it's quite similar to a David Guetta track that Capital would rape, except obviously SO much better! I'd love to share your enthusiasm but I just don't see radio picking it up at all, purely because of the Eurovision stigma. I can't even remember the last Eurovision song that radio hammered, I don't think I was alive  The only way Euphoria would be a bonafide smash here is if it didn't win tonight, AATW picked it up by some miracle and it became popular that way, and then radio need never know it was anything to do with Eurovision :drama: I still don't get why they wouldn't allow Eurovision songs to be downloaded the moment the official album comes out?! And why wait 5 days after the show to release SOME of them? If it's the UK iTunes decision, then the company is run by a bunch of morons. Some songs are locked as 'album only' on the official compilation. In 2009 Fairytale was on iTunes as a standalone 'single' so was able to start selling instantly and hence peaked in the top ten, and #3 on iTunes iirc! Satellite was released two days after the contest and lost a ton of sales because of it :(
