WOWHD (Based in Australia - I think!?!) does NOT count towards UK charts though, I got a cd from them and It was a cheap import from Taiwan.

HMV etc..Sell deluxe versions for £13 odd plus £14.99 isn't bad with a Signed poster!

Seriously, it's only £2/3 more anyway, stop making a fuss.

Leave A Light On

Sounds like: 'Here Standing', 'Died In Your Eyes'

Probabbly one of my least favorites upon first listen but it's growing on me. I don't personally like songs with this style of production which is the same reason why I was never crazy about Here Standing. The lyrics are nice though, the girls clearly relate well to these. Not entirely sure how it would stand up as a single. From the clip it doesn't sound as bolshy as their singles post Notorious (excluding My Heart Takes Over). Having said that I think it would do well on radio.

Not Giving Up

Sounds like: 'All Fired Up', 'Get Ready Get Set', 'Move on You'

The standout track so far. Feels like a worthy follow-up to All Fired Up for sure. The production is on-point too, so colourful and the momentum is building up so well. Some brilliant pop lyrics in there too, "Got me on overload, i'll be your rock of gold, can we get overdosed on love". I love the vocal production on it too. Some great vocals have been captured, Vanessa in particular. She is sounded brilliant on this record. Her raspy tone on that middle-8 when the beat drops out sends shivers. Obvious single choice, it will do well in the charts I'm sure, and Capital will lap it up.

Lease My Love

Sounds like: 'All Fired Up', 'For Myself', 'Faster'

This track is just magic. I wasn't sold on the demo but the finished version sounds stunning. I can't actually fault it. The production is fantastic, it keeps building to the epic creshendo of Rochelle's powerful vocal. Vocally all of them are on point too.. this is probabbly the track that has really caught my ettention when comparing to their previous material. This sounds like it has a lot more substance compared to the magority of their previous records. It's not a dance track, it's not cheesy lyrics about dressing up and going out, it's got some fantastic dyanamic lyrical hooks which previous records have lacked. This has to be a single at some point - a wasted opportunity if not. It doesn't sound like a sure-fire radio hit, but it needs to be a single just to showcase the tracks persona. Something that I think will take critics by surprise.

Anywhere With You

Sounds like: 'Lose Control', 'Karma', 'Open Up'

Very undecided about this track. Feels like a left-over from the Headlines era. I get a bit of a 'Disco Love' vibe from it with the guitar-lead chorus. It's the lyrical content that puts me off, "Take me sky high were jumping on a plane, don't care where we land to me it's all the same". It's just dull, sickly and childish - a complete contrast with 'Lease My Love'.

Problem With Love

Sounds like: 'Puppet', 'Promise Me', 'For Myself'

The first thing that springs to mind is JLS. It does sound like a song that was intended for JLS. Not that it's a bad thing, it's actually got some quality credentials. The chorus is very catchy, hooks-a-plenty. I like the how varied the verses are, very still and then repetitve to some 'rapping'. The vocal production is good too.. some fierce vocal takes from Vanessa again, Una too. My third favorite from the new tracks.

You Don't Have The Right

Sounds like: 'Fall', 'Last Call'

This is the track that I'm hoping the full version will make me love this. The only thing it lacks for me is melody. It sounds very monotone and dare I say, not vocally challenging enough for a ballad coming off the back of On Your Radar's 'Last Call'. The content of the lyrics are brilliant though.

Don't Let Me Dance Alone

Sounds like: 'I Say OK', 'So Stupid'

Torn. That is the word. Very remenicent of 'I Say OK' which the kooky lyrics. I feel like this track is better than 'I Say OK' which is good as I've never been keen on 'I Say OK'. This is the part of the record where I feel the production does slip. It's going back into Headlines territories again. It sounds flat and lacks dynamic range. The chorus is catchy for sure, it's the pre-chorus that lacks umph following on from the tongue-in-cheek verse. It's a very confusing song. Going from tongue-in-cheek and kooky lyrics to giving a nod to the late Whitney "I wanna dance with somebody".

Somebody Else's Life

Sounds like: ...

It's at the end of the album for a reason. The production is so confusing, there's too many genre influences littered throughout the song. I think the acoustic version really baught something to the song that wasn't captured in this recording. I want to like it more but the production is again reminicent of the Headlines era. It does wrap the album up nicely though. I like that this LP feels different. It feels a lot more bright and colourful compared to On Your Radar which I found quite dark. The girls have different things to sing about which is a refreshing change.

Wildfire

Sounds like: 'Not That Kinda Girl', 'Ladykiller'

It was a silly mistake for this to be at b-side status. And it's unfortunately been tagged onto the end of the Deluxe version of the album. It feel it's hard to place this track in a specific point on the album, but it is just simply too good to not include in the LP. The production is brilliant (It's The Alias - they've produced some amazing songs for The Sats), and again it's showing a more grown-up but fierce Saturdays sound.

Overall...

The Saturdays have continued to develop a strong and powerful pop record. I feel that On Your Radar was more cohesive in the terms of sound as it felt like a loaf and with it you had 12 nice chunky cuts of bread. However 'Living for the Weekend' feels like a Hovis 50/50. There's more standout tracks on this LP compared to On Your Radar but in return there is too much filler towards the end of the record. The filler is remenicent of the Headlines era in terms of production which is clear as they returned to record and brush up on left-over tracks with The Jam from the Wordshaker/Headlines era. Long gone are the days of gems on 'Chasing Lights', and I hope the girls continue to make more tracks like 'Lease My Love' and 'What About Us'. The inclusion of 30 Days feels very messy. Feels a bit like another Headlines saga all over again in a way. They show a stronger and grown-up Saturdays. I don't think my judgements will change once the whole LP is released as I have a pretty good feel for it already, but who knows.

Nice to read you again, love!

I felt exactly the same about this new album and their last effort. On Your Radar does indeed feel like a more cohesive album. The first half is obviously better, but the production doesn't necessary slip on the other half while I think it is the case with Living For The Weekend. In terms of sound, the numerous The Jam songs make it a bit more cohesive, but in general, it is quite messy with the four singles being different from one to another. That being said, even Get Ready Get Set (which is IMO the best albumtrack of On Your Radar) didn't hit me the same way Not Giving Up did. That track is just amazing. Even Lease My Love sounds better than half of On Your Radar.

I can't help but feel like they would have had a really good mini-album with these few amazing songs and ditch the fillers.

I'm saying this, but to be honest, I personally enjoy the fillers a lot (Somebody Else's Life and Don't Let Me Dance Alone).

Una's verse on Problem With Love is the business. The pre-chorus with Mollie, Frankie, and Rochelle is fire too (Mollie singing about riding in a car with the windows tinted, what more could you ask for?) but the chorus falls flat for me. I actually really like Don't Let Me Dance Alone. Better than Somebody Else's Life and Anywhere With You (which sounds like an average knock off of Domino and about 100 other songs) for me.

You did not just put Somebody Else's Life last AND misspelled its name?!
We have to wait till we hear the full version of Somebody else's life...! with the current version, production could have been improved...

WowHD is actually based in Hong Kong. You're right they don't count towards the charts but who cares. If CDs were more reasonably priced in the uk, then I would buy more here and please don't patronise me and tell me to stop making a fuss. I'm entitled to post my own opinions without you making remarks like that!

Only just come across some other previews! Problem With Love sounds amazing. The opening reminds me Madonna's 'Pappa Don't Preach'.

Agreed ! This and 'Lease My Love' are better than the demo versions floating around.

Following Digital Spy - Stereoboard and Look.com have published news on the album sampler release by The Sats just now (More sites hopefully follow)..This should give them a boost on the album sales

'Dont Let Me Dance Alone' is growing on me. It's just that God damn awful pre-chrous, "only got one life". It kills the momentum and lyrical direction from the verses. It does feel like two songs have been stuck together (and not in a good Xenomania way).

Just listened to the previews for this and the album sounds really good , only really a fan from Disco Love to 30 Days (on the ranking below), the rest are just meh...

I'm also entitled to my opinion! It makes NO sense to me then, why you bother following the UK charts etc..If you don't play a part in it or support artists?

The world doesn't work like that I'm afraid everythings cheaper in Hong Kong etc, I also believe the Cd's to be fakes so i'm pretty sure the artist doesn't even get credited with anything hence why they are so cheap.

ALBUM RATE & REVIEW:

01. Not Giving Up

By far the best song on the album and currently neck and neck with All Fired Up for the best Sats song ever, we'll have to see how well it holds up in the future (because All Fired Up still sounds amazing)! Every line is a hook and the melancholic synths/tones really inflate the aura of the song. Also one thing I can't help but love is those vocals from Frankie and Mollie, they sound so strong! A VERY VERY VERY small criticism...this song needs to be longer, way longer.

02. What About Us (feat. Sean Paul)

What can I say, the song that generated so much buzz for a our beloved five some and boosted their profile SOOO much (only to be killed later :L). A very well deserved number one, the hook infused song and its Sean Paul feature to this day remain one of the catchiest, coolest and loveable songs of all time.

03. Anywhere With You

Upon first hearing this, I though "wow The Jam really aren't good at producing vocals at all are they?" and therefore the so g became 'meh' from the instant I heard it. However as I've continued to listen to the previews Anywhere With You has just got better and better to finally slot in my Top Three. It's very Katy Perry reminiscent sounding and Frankie's (short but amazing) Pre-choruses are delectable.

04. Gentleman

A guilty pleasure I'm not ashamed to admit I LOVE. This COMPLETELY underrated song still has a place in my personal Top Five due to its shear ballsiness and hilarity. The "so hard for a girl to find" hook is constantly in my head and the song is just so cool and funky and also proves how diverse the girls can be.

05. Lease My Love

Rounding off the Top Five is the brilliant Lease My Love. After being obsessed with the demo for weeks on end, the finished version of this track underwhelmed me a lot, but I thought "I'm NOT GIVING UP on this track just yet" and it soon managed to spark. Unusually I'm quite fond of Frankie's robo "YUUH CAN'T LEEZ MAH LUFF" at the start and as ever Rochelle shows us how it's done with her powerhouse belting during the empowering chorus.

06. Disco Love

"Oh is it love that's in the air?" Vanessa asks whilst singing over a Hey Porsche reminiscent beat. It's funky old school pure pop vibe is really what keeps me coming back to Disco Love. Mollie of course is the tracks shine, with her cute and impressive vocal this some belongs to her. Although I have to criticise the lack of Frankie, I was not a very happy stan upon the first play.

07. Leave A Light On

"A real lighters-in-the-air moment" said Una, clearly exaggerating. Although the verses are a tad boring and Vanessa does seem to be whaling on the track, the chorus is utter perfection and what really warmed me to this song is Rochelle's undeniable "Cus I'm coming hoooooome". Una seems to steal most of the limelight on this but I do hope Frankie can sneak a line or two during the middle-8.

08. Somebody Else's Life

Quite an unpopular opinion having this song in my Top Ten but that chorus though... The verses are bazar production wise and why does Frankie sound like a duck? These girls can sing I wish producers would leave there voices alone! Anyway over time I've grown to embrace the sound of the track and now appreciate its randomness and fully accept that it's a brilliant pop track.

09. You Don't Have The Right

Am I the only one who LOVES Una's voice on this and thinks that Frankie sounds like she recorded each one of her words individually? Obviously i LOVE Frankie but her voice doesn't impress me on this song, Una's however melts me. I don't care how much tuning was on her voice, they way she delivered her lines was just PERF-EC-TION. Even though its beautiful and Rochelle and Mollie sound fantastic the one thing this song is lacking is...a proper melody unfortunately.

10. Don't Let Me Dance Alone

A very sassy track with a catchy chorus which I adore but the thing that really gets me with this track is Frankie's "these bloody heels are killing me". Amazing! Although there's not much wrong with the song itself its the FAR TOO over-produced vocals that drag it down and the unnecessary need to violate Una and yet again Frankie's voices with auto-tune. Aside from that I quite like it.

11. 30 Days

Quite odd seeing this on the album although I suppose It needed to go somewhere! It's still a good song and does get trash talked a lot but at the end of the day it's still as a good a pop song as many out there and I still love the famous potato-in-a-bin sound!

12. Problem With Love

Finally the R&B banger! The verses on this song are great and i love Rochelle's voice but the chorus is such a non-event up until Vanessa's amazing "gone, gone, gone...". Probably one I listen to the least but considering its the worst on the album, I'd say the girls have done a stellar job.

ALBUMS RATE:

Wordshaker - 10/10

Living For The Weekend - 9.5/10

On Your Radar - 9/10

Chasing Lights - 9/10

Headlines! - 8.5/10

I do support artists. It's just my choice to shop around for best value price instead of being ripped off by UK retailers. You cannot say I don't support the artists simply because I buy from music retailers abroad. Hdwow is a legitimate company, they don't sell pirated Cds. The only difference is the Cd does not count towards the Uk charts which makes no odds to me when I'm buying it substantially cheaper. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion but there is no need to be patronising about it. There is no point continuing this conversation so lets just agree to disagree!

They are a joke, they arn't a legit company at all, they've changed hands 18 times in the last 8 months! Also, on the website YOU are responsible for any customs duties, simply looking around the net many people are slating them, someone had to pay £68 in customs fee's to get a One tree Hill boxset.

I don't want to keep going on, but I've had really bad experiences with them! So for the sake of £2/3 quid it's up to you. I wasn't having a go at you at all! This company just gets my goat because they make it seem like goods are from the UK.
