"Ok, so I've been told today (and this may be bullshit but thought I'd share anyway) that there is no 4th (5th?) album, or if there was one it has been scrapped. The next album will be a Greatest Hits. Make of that what you will..."

As a fan, I'm praying this is wrong, because I obviously want a full album of new tracks!

I can't work out if I'm pleased by that or not (if it's true of course).

I just want a new album of 12+ songs though. Hmm so I guess I don't want it to be true  I guess if they do do a Greatest Hits this year then the 'new' album will be put on hold and released next year sometime? As long as they keep all the songs for the new album.

I guess it would justify including 30 Days, What About Us, Gentleman, Disco Love and Not Giving Up on... but Im scared that means Forever Is actually Over :(

But how incred would this CD be......

02 Up

03 Issues

04 Just Cant Get Enough

05 Work

06 Forever Is Over

07 Ego

08 Missing You

09 Higher

11 All Fired Up

12 My Heart Takes Over

13 30 Days

17 Not Giving Up On Love

18 Lease My Love

19 Somebody Else's Life

There's no way they would change this to a greatest hits at the last minute. Not buying it.
If rather they did what Atomic Kitteb did and release an album followed by a greatest hits 4 months later.
There's no way they'd wait three years (or longer) between proper studio albums. And they wouldn't have released 4 singles for a Greatest Hits album.

I haven't kept up with what they've been saying about the album recently, in terms of its progress / any other details... but the only time it's been referred to in their mailer - since the release of 'Gentleman' - is with this comment:

In other news, this week we've made a load of big decisions about the album that we'll be sharing with you very soon. We are SO EXCITED and we cannot wait to let this cat out of the bag. Only a few weeks until all will be revealed...

If they were still in the process of making "a load of big decisions about the album" as recently as a week ago, then they could have easily decided to change their plans. It's not exactly last minute when there's still 2 months to go, and (as far as I am aware) there's no pre-order yet. Taking into account how 'Gentleman' did, and Frankie being away for the rest of the year, they could have got cold feet about how feasible a new studio album actually is.

Of course I want a studio album, but I've started to prepare myself for it to be a Greatest Hits. You can't rule anything out when it comes to these girls and their management. I don't even think it would necessarily be a bad idea on their part.

It would be a bad idea. For a start it means there won't be a tour next year (they'll have nothing new to perform besides the four singles and maybe two album tracks) and it would mean the next album wouldn't be out until three years after On Your Radar, and for an average selling pop group where 3/5 members are parents, it's a horrible strategy.

A Greatest Hits album would work so much better next year. It would mean they could release one or two singles from this album, do the UK tour, go to America and work properly then in the winter they can throw out the GH album with a single and then relax for another year before launching a new album again.

I personally think it would be a extremely bad idea, but I'm pretty sure they are releasing a full new album, so I'm not worrying about it.

I can't wait another two months, though. Ugh.

Why would a Greatest Hits album mean there wouldn't be a tour? Most people book tickets on the strength of singles, and they certainly have a healthy amount of them now. It would probably be an incentive. People buying tickets to hear hit singles far outnumber the relatively few hardcores who want to hear certain album tracks.

I was just gonna say..

Surely the tour would just be a Greatest Hits tour?

They've already said they're touring next year.

Thinking about it.. a GH in the fourth quarter with Disco Love being a really strong single could be amazing for them.

Don't forget, Girls Aloud really got going after their GH did well.

To be honest, I'd rather they have a successful album right now regardless of the extra wait for an album. Their back catalogue is epic enough to keep me going for another quarter hah!

Guys, we're talking about The Saturdays here.

The group with heavy split rumours and they're being labelled flops because they never do incredible and are "generic" and "bland"

Imo a Greatest Hits right now seems like a career killer. It'll only fuel the split rumours and I'm not sure if it'll do well.

If this is a greatest hits, i'd imagine that's the end. Next year I can see being a farewell tour. I wouldn't be surprised. If this was a GH and then another year before a studio album? Just doesn't seem feasible.
if a GH does poorly a further album wont happen - and what a waste of money on the countless recording sessions over the last year. they must have recorded 40/50 songs since OYR! its crazy

I personally hope its not a GH album as I feel like 2 years since OYR is a long enough wait for new material. But like others have said if it is a Greatest Hits and it underperforms I could honestly see it being the end of the girls. As much as I hate saying that as I honestly think I'd have a mental breakdown.

Anyway I pray we get a full new album although a Greatest Hits

does make alot of sense.
