February 16, 201213 yr I'm glad she's against re-releases. They're really a rip-off (thanks Gaga). I'd rather she come up with "23" or "24" a few years from now. What I will be interested in is if they let her create her own music as she did for the last 2 albums, or ship her off to work with the producers du jour given that her next album will be widely widely anticipated. I think you'll find that Rihanna started the re-release trend  And "producers du jour" - you really think her label would be stupid enough to have Adele working with Dr Luke and Stargate?

February 16, 201213 yr Oh yes I forgot about that. Those were the days, when her songs were about driving and bowing, instead of about the violence and raunchy sex she has.
February 16, 201213 yr I'm not trying to sound like a conservative jackass but I think re-releases should be illegal. Beside the fact that's it's annoying for the people who already have bought it I think albums shouldn't need a re-release. Just make an album that is finished and worth purchasing the first time and doesn't need an extra few tracks to ''make it complete'' Luckily only 1 or tops 2 albums I've ever bought have been re-released. I'd say Shania is pretty safe. Hopefully! Not even a big fan of that album but at least Shania is an artist I like so I would like her to hold on to that title  Edited February 16, 201213 yr by Atonement
February 16, 201213 yr The only re release i've bought is 'Bright Lights' but thats because I illegally downloaded lights because I knew the re release was inevitable
February 17, 201213 yr Author The only re release i've bought is 'Bright Lights' but thats because I illegally downloaded lights because I knew the re release was inevitable I bought it because it was the only way Ellie would give me an autograph. Mean bitch! :D
February 17, 201213 yr I bought it because it was the only way Ellie would give me an autograph. Mean bitch! :D She made you buy a copy of her album?! What a skeet. My opinion of her has dropped since i found out her and skrillex are an item.
February 17, 201213 yr I think several Beatles records may be in the way first. Just sgt Pepper, Adeles outsold the others in the UK already.
February 17, 201213 yr Author I bought it because it was the only way Ellie would give me an autograph. Mean bitch! :D Paid about 30$ to see her at a concert, and we were told that we had to buy her album (that they were selling there) if we wanted our picture with her (and autograph). I've seen other UK acts in the same venue (KT Tunstall, Imogen heap) and they were all very gracious, none of these stunts. In any case, as much as I love Ellie's voice on CD, I think she's lousy live. Although she's got a very fit body!

She used to be phenomenal live and she is still good with acoustic, but I think from the ridiculous amount of shows she did in 2010 her voice has just become really, really strained. Watch her at the iTunes festival singing 'lights', she hits the chorus perfectly, now she can't even do that without sounding like a 40 a day smoker :(

February 21, 201213 yr 799.081 (2012 total) Next week the predictions are that it will sell between 550,000-600,000 Apparently 21 sold 716k copies in the US this week!! Instantly doubling her 2012 total sales. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi Edited February 22, 201213 yr by Cowboystyle
February 22, 201213 yr Author So not even 2 months up and we're already looking at 1.5mil selling album AND possibly becoming the best selling album this year as well! Also good for '19' reaching a new peak.
February 22, 201213 yr She's already within ~940k of the second highest selling album of 2011 after just seven weeks
February 23, 201213 yr Author Make it 22 weeks with an expected 300K sales next week taking the 2012 US total to about 1.8mil!! Wow! Adele's 21 will easily score another week at #1, her 22nd, with an estimated total now close to 300k. Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Republic rapper Tyga's sophomore album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, should do 70-80k, which is all digital sales, since the physical copy of the album was pulled due to an uncleared sample from Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Tyga is an acronym which stands for "Thank You God Always" for the prolific mixtape artist of Vietnamese-Jamaican origin, whose real name is Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson and whose previous album, 2008's No Introduction, was on the Decaydance label. (HITS Daily Double)
February 23, 201213 yr Tyga won't come close to challenging Adele and blocking her from getting yet another (21st century) record then :cheer: Ouch at Tyga's CD being pulled. Her rise in sales last week was another record itself - the biggest unit increase in sales in the SoundScan era (excluding irregular 'boosts' caused by street date violations and staggered format releases). February 23, 201213 yr It's a sobering thought that we will probably(although nothings impossible) never ever see an album sell so much in so short a time in our lifetimes again. A perfect storm of an album.
