I DID say several times expect Icarus to enter high :P It was in the 60s as a pre-order briefly before vanishing (because it's a single and not an EP so shouldn't have shown up at all), I'm not surprised at all at its high entry. I just hope it's not really frontloaded and can climb to at least the top 20 if not top 10.

31. Icarus (Radio Edit) - Madeon

61. Rockstar (feat. Brian May) - Dappy

64. Skyscraper - Demi Lovato

262. Ray Charles - Chiddy Bang

Disappointed at how low Chiddy Bang are. And no sign of Utah Saints yet :(

It hasn't had many plays, but the plays it has had have been high-profile (Radio 1 is the only station supporting it).

Think its been one of radio 1s most played singles for the past 2 weeks!!

Nicki is doing really well at the moment, she seems to have blown up since Super Bass's success!

05 Nicki Minaj - Starships

09 David Guetta feat Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

68 Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

79 Nicki Minaj feat Lil Wayne - Roman Reloaded

119 Madonna feat Nicki Minaj & M.I.A. - Give Me All Your Luvin'

123 Nicki Minaj feat Rihanna - Fly

132 Nicki Minaj feat Drake - Moment 4 Life

I assume Ladyhawke has been put pack again?

Nope, just flopping.

The album's been put back though.

I certainly hope so. This years run of UK #1 single up until today have been great. Next week will see the UK shamefully be restored back to "normal" and we'll just have another wave of absolute crap topping the charts. The worst thing about 'Rockstar' is that it will be #1 on iTunes by tonight, but this time next week is bound to have been overtaken by Gotye, and possibly Flo Rida, Emeli Sandé etc...so a one week wonder, and then out of the top 40 within 6 weeks. Dreadful, yet another #1 based on hype rather than musical merit. :manson:

You put it perfectly hits.....my hope is that its been held back so long that it might hit no1 but gotye will overtake by wednesday and sneak another week at the top - which would be 3 in all.

How much did 'no regrets' sell in week one back in september?

65. What Can You Do for Me (Utah Saints vs. Drumsound & Bassline Smith) [Radio Edit] - Utah Saints & Drumsound & Bassline Smith

96k...hmmm thats decent.Rockstar isnt as good so it will sell maybe 85k me thinks.suppose we wont know until we see gotyes no1 sales later!!
96,639.

I can't see Rockstar selling as much as that, but I can see Gotye selling more than that, as his sales will be staying more consistent, whilst Dappy's will decrease over the week (because that's the nature of held back releases, Somebody That I Used to Know would also probably be frontloaded if it was held back).

For sure but its sold loads in the run up to it hitting no1 that it may have missed out on with a held back release!

Yes, same with Dappy. Same with all songs. It's nothing to do with what genre they are, or how good they are. Party Rock Anthem might've *only* sold 800,000 rather than 1,000,000 if it was held back. And Promises may've sold 250,000 instead of 150,000 if it was on air, on sale.

When you don't like songs, it's probably actually a good thing if they're held back, since they have shorter chart runs and sell less. No Regrets would've been in the year-end top 40 if it was on air, on sale. T.H.E. might have already spent over 2 months in the top 40 if it was on air, on sale.

I personally doubt Dappy will be No 1, I think his time is up- there I said it!

Dappy's time was up a long time ago. Sadly the UK music buying public disagreed.

:D

You've posted a track that's been a massive hit all over the world there Eric. Let's see Dappy get a top 30 debut with 'No Regrets' in America, or indeed any country for that matter. Then I'll eat humble pie.

Dappy is slowly turning into the new Westlife (his N-Dubz output is not "Dappy" therefore doesn't count :P ). I'm already afraid. Are you? :o I will be ashamed if Dappy gets a load of solo #1 hits in the UK.

Indeed but if thats what people are buying who are we to say its wrong.songs should be released OA/OS not because of our personal tastes but because if music is available immediately then its more likely to stop people chosing to illegally download it!

:o  *Joseph disagrees with this*

I really hope Dappy doesn't get #1, but he probably will. :/

WMYB isn't the worst offender at all

As for the new releases, Skyscraper MUST go top 40, it was my 2nd fave song of 2011 and deserves SO much more :(

Rockstar is extremely average compared to No Regrets :( I hope Gotye can hold him off, although Brian May getting a number 1 to his name in this day would be pretty great

I'm glad Incarus is doing well though, the Chiddy Bang song is quite good actually, I'd love if this could chart higher than that THING they called 'Opposite of Adults' :puke:
