Technically speaking 1 person doesn't make a mutiny, more a hissy fit!

I will start a gang, have you ever heard of sarcasim Lex?

Honestly had better/more important things to worry about this weekend than voting, I did vote though and a 33% deduction is always harsh especially when you do actually bother to vote!!!

Fair enough for people who don't bother to vote, but I actually did bother to vote just 30minutes late :(

Then again, why not vote in the weekdays to get it over and done with? 33% deduction isn't harsh this time round imo.

Indeed. The rules are there for a reason. Maybe you can bend them sometimes, but they should never be broken, not by a host at least.

What? Is it not the case that it's always at the host's discretion as to whether they'll accept late votes? I really don't think accepting late votes at all counts as rule breaking.

@Tirren in response to your previous comments. If the host just allowed any vote to be accepted after the deadline then what is the deadline there for then? It's practically just a date that anyone can ignore and vote as long as it's before the results. You might as well just remove the deadline and put the "Votes before the results or there will be deductions" principle in. Obviously there are exceptions like the misunderstanding when Martyn hosted but that's a complete different case this time as there were reminders sent prior to votes being closed with the deadline in bold in the OP.

As I said, it's there as there would be no impetus to vote were there no deadline. It's to ensure that votes come in, rather than existing in and of itself. I can more than understand the reason for deductions if there are no votes accepted - but I don't at all see why votes should ever not be accepted if they have been sent and they don't make a difference to the host's preparations. Surely the more votes the better as the result is more representative of those taking part?

Take this example. Say the host doesn't log in until several hours after the deadline. What difference does it at all make to them, the results, or anything really if someone votes twenty minutes before or after the deadline? To enforce it for the sake of enforcing it strikes me as very petty-minded.

Surely the reason of "If that guy got away with it, maybe next time I can as well" strikes in mind?

My point is that BARELY ANYBODY thinks like that though! People voting a little bit late and getting their votes accepted anyway happens in almost every contest. You don't see a massive surge in every contest after that in people voting late though. Whereas you do inevitably get people who forget to vote and then send in their votes a little bit late every contest, and I think it's impractical and unfair to give out such harsh and unrepresentative punishments for actions which make barely any (if any at all) difference in the grand scheme of things.
Maybe we should create a list of non-voters or late-voters so we can see if people are regularly either not voting or voting past the deadline?
I was beginning to lose all confidence and accept my fate as yet another DNQ! But I qualified, thanks to all who voted for me and I look forward to th final. :D So glad Mr Star was nice and didn't leave me to one of those Red zones. Comisserations to all who were involved in those, especially the DNQ'ers. :(

'Bothered' to vote? Are you expecting an award or something?

With regards the voting SCANDAL: it's up to the host whether or not to accept late votes. Some do, some don't. If the deadline is a certain time, then don't expect to be able to get away with voting late. All of you were able to manage voting for 50+ songs in the One Big Final (which a lot of you complained about because there were 'too many songs to listen to'), so how you can't manage to vote for half the number of songs in a week is beyond me. Fair enough if you lose your internet or your head falls off or something else beyond your control, but if you're online all week and then vote late, you shouldn't expect people to bend the deadline for you. And this is NOT directed at Lee in particular, this is just a reminder that EVERYBODY should make the effort to vote on time, especially if you've committed to it. This whole idea of "I'm just going to be a little late but it's okay because the host HAS TO accept late votes" needs to be chucked out the window. If you miss the deadline then the ball is in the host's court.

I don't want to speak against the late voters but I think deadline is deadline. Why do we have rules if we can break them? If 95% of the voters can vote in time then why we should make excepts? If you don't do something which you have to then pay the consequences. There can be some extreme circumstances that make you unable to vote but I think it's the minority of the reasons. We have rules for the songs, for the confirmation etc. and we don't break them because you don't let us so why we should let somebody to vote after deadline? If you enter this contest you accept the rules of it so observe them.

Sorry if I was rough but it's not against the late voters it's more beside of those who vote in time.
