Noel at #28 will probably drop out by Sunday but he's certain to beat the peak of "If I Had A Gun..." at least. Paul Weller shockingly low, I'd expect his physicals to push him well into the top 40.

was really hoping for Michael Kiwanuku to get number 1 album, darn mothers day :(

Wasn't expecting Noel Gallagher to be that high even with high physicals :o I hope it can stay top 40 although it most likely won't

Summary of top 5/new entries/climbers:

Singles

Top 5:

1 [1] Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

2 [*] Alexandra Burke feat. Erick Morillo - Elephant

3 [3] Nicki Minaj - Starships

4 [2] Emeli Sandé - Next To Me

5 [4] Flo Rida feat. Sia - Wild Ones

New entries 6-40:

23 [**] Jason Mraz - I Won't Give Up

27 [46] Azealia Banks feat. Lazy Jay - 212

28 [**] Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Dream On

36 [51] LMFAO - Sorry For Party Rocking *

40 [**] Swedish House Mafia - Greyhound

Climbers:

6 [8] David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium

9 [10] David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

13 [18] Jay-Z and Kanye West - Niggas In Paris (new peak)

16 [17] Lil Wayne feat. Bruno Mars - Mirror (new peak)

19 [34] Taio Cruz feat. Flo Rida - Hangover (new peak)

20 [32] Lana Del Rey - Video Games

24 [31] Rihanna feat. Jay-Z - Talk That Talk (new peak)

33 [38] Coldplay - Charlie Brown

39 [40] Lloyd feat. André 3000 and Lil Wayne - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)

* R1 page says this is Party Rock Anthem but this is a fairly obvious mistake, it only says '3 weeks in the chart' which is way off PRA and matches SFPR, plus the iTunes chart indicates that it'd make no sense for PRA to be top 40 but not SFPR.

Surprised at the lack of Paul Weller today and also surprised and upset at the lack of M.I.A. but I imagine she'll climb in later in the week ('Dream On' will almost certainly drop out for one thing). Great position for Azealia and very surprised to see SHM already top 40 after missing Sunday sales and only really taking off yesterday! Another great climb for 'Niggas In Paris' and also good to see Mirror still climbing well. 'Video Games' won't hang onto the top 20 but nice to see it up there today. And finally, 'Charlie Brown' should be well on its way to a new peak and probably outpeaking 'Life In Technicolor ii' based on its iTunes progress :D

Albums

Top 5:

1 [2] Military Wives - In My Dreams (new peak)

2 [*] Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again

3 [3] Emeli Sandé - Our Version Of Events

4 [4] Adele - 21

5 [1] Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball

New entries 6-40:

7 [*] Marcus Collins - Marcus Collins

15 [**] Michael Bolton - Gems - The Very Best Of

27 [52] Will Young - Echoes (re-entry)

33 [**] Jason Donovan - Sign Of Your Love

36 [43] Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (re-entry)

40 [**] Grimes - Visions

Climbers:

13 [16] Justin Fletcher - Hands Up... The Album (new peak)

17 [20] Olly Murs - In Case You Didn't Know

22 [23] Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans

23 [26] LMFAO - Sorry For Party Rocking

24 [27] Jay-Z and Kanye West - Watch The Throne

28 [31] Rebecca Ferguson - Heaven

Boo at Military Wives being #1 already, I was hoping Kiwanuka could get there at least for the midweek update :( They'll no doubt take it with a massive lead now then. I suspect '21' could finish a bit higher than #4 as well. Pleased to see Marcus underperforming. Lol at Justin Fletcher actually looking for a climb in his second week... And woo at Watch The Throne climbing although it'll be forced back down with the Mother's Day rush probably.

The Radio 1 chart update has gone all poo again like last week, that's the main reason I removed the Radio 1 links, it just seem so unreliable. I must admit that's a bit better as you know last week's position, but the album chart update is last week's.

How can Katie Melua only be #14 - I'd have thought she would have benefited significantly from the Mothers Day effect?
Justin Fletcher's album is being heavily promoted on ASDA FM, which probably explains it's increase of sales. Just proving that I can link any topic to a certain band, I see that Justin Fletcher is signed to Demon Records. This is the same label that re-issued the Deluxe Versions of Suede's 5 studio albums last year.
I'm pretty impressed with Noel being at #28!! After Tuesday sales. The physical sales for him must be huge !!
Really hope Marcus's single climbs during the week!

How much do you hate your mother?

*GEEKY POST ALERT*

If Titanium holds #6, it will mean that it only needs #9 and #10 to have been in every top 10 position...

I much prefer the Radio1 update too as it's designed to make it very easy to see the movers/new entries. Just a pity, as you say, that it's "gone all poo again" - Come on Radio1 website people, sort it out!!

I hope noe; gallgher can stay top 40 in the singles, either way though it will help sustain album sales for a while longer, his album will easily manage double platnum plus now.

Midweek Charts update: Sande taking on Military Wives

Source: MW

13:41 | Friday March 16, 2012

By Paul Williams

Emeli Sande is mounting a late challenge to Military Wives to top the UK artist albums chart this weekend after pushing ahead of Michael Kiwanuka.

BBC Sound of 2012 winner Kiwanuka’s debut Polydor album Home Again opened its week of release leading the Official Charts Company’s midweek sales figures, but it was firstly overtaken by Decca’s Military Wives album In My Dreams and has now been surpassed by Virgin act Sande’s Our Version Of Events.

The Sande album, which was placed third on last Sunday’s chart, is the only album that was in last week’s Top 10 to grow its sales this week. It is 5.3% ahead of last week’s numbers in second place, around 9,000 units behind Military Wives.

Adele’s XL album 21 matches its position of four achieved on last week’s chart in the week so far while, having debuted at number one last weekend, Columbia-signed Bruce Springsteen is now down to five with Wrecking Ball.

The Top 10 at this stage of the week also includes X Factor 2011 runner-up Marcus Collins’ self-titled RCA debut showing up as a new entry at six and Positiva/Virgin’s David Guetta climbing 11-10 with Nothing But The Beat.

Island’s Gotye featuring Kimbra single Somebody That I Used To Know had sold nearly a further 50,000 downloads this week up to the end of business on Thursday as it heads to number one for a fifth week. Cash Money/Island’s Nicki Minaj is now its nearest challenger with Starships in second place, while the Syco single Elephant by Alexandra Burke and Erick Morillo is cropping up as a new entry at three having begun the week in runners-up spot.
