I don't know, Natasha Bedingfield did the whole abandoning the UK for the US thing and look where that got her  Besides, Starry Eyed doesn't scream US hit to me. Agreed with jkac about the new video being unnecessary. I liked the old one.

Carly overtaking Gotye would be AMAZING. Please happen.

LOL, that's true. The sadder part is that, even in the US, it was just 2 big singles she had as opposed to the UK where she could've continued doing well. I wish acts like her, Craig David, etc. realise that. Sadly, looks like Ellie's going the Natasha B'field way - plus with an American boyfriend and a prolonged stay here, she's probably used to the American life as well by now, and will invest more time here.

If Lights takes off in the US (both single and album), my guess is they'll promote Starry Eyed in the US and postpone album #2 launch in the UK.

If they're going to promote anything they're going to promote Animal.

ANd I doubt they will postpone, they realise how impatient the UK is getting now.

To be fair, Unwritten was so massive in the US, she could've never got a hit that big in the UK imo.

How did "Unwritten" explode in the U.S? It's a great song and i know it's got the gospel thing going on, but was it used on T.V or something?

I'm not sure to be honest. I wasn't really following her US career at the time. These Words was a fairly big hit in the US the year before though (and I remember that being in an advert, but that was in the UK obviously ).

Unwritten was the theme tune for The Hills though, perhaps that's one thing that helped the song get so successful there.

Yes. It was the opening to "The Hills" which was HUGELY popular at the time and was breaking records for MTV. In addition to that, it was used in several commercials.

Is it? I know her 1st album did well there (2xP or 3xP?) but I hardly think the public or media are that impatient?

Well its been over 2 years now, I would say all of her fans are starting to get tired of waiting for this new album. I mean, she initially said end of 2011, and she keeps saying we'll here something 'sooner than you think' but months go by with nothing and the album isn't out till october.

Thanks for the info. :)

11. Back In Time (From "Men In Black III") - Pitbull

14. Scream - Usher

Still potential for these two to be big hits! Still haven't heard 'Scream' but based on other people's reactions to it it's annoying to see it doing so much better than 'Climax'.

It's a small step up from his last couple of club bangers but a MASSIVE step down from "Climax", although his album should be a pretty solid listen this time around.

"Back In Time" is certainly no "Give Me Everything" but it's grown on me a little so I won't begrudge it success.

I see One Thing is still top 100 at number 76 but is Chasing The Sun anywhere to be seen in the top 300?
Ellie Goulding looking set to go top 20 over the next week or so. Currently at 22. Amazing.

Number 21 now :)

#20 now!

Oh Lord. I said a while back that this song would keep flying up, dropping, then flying up even further, to the point where it would go top 20. I was joking.

Now she's actually gone top 20. This is mental.

It had, for a brief time peaked at 19 btw. I'm sure it'll go up.
