I know MCR are a big group, and I know "I'm Not OK" from them, but this song is in one ear out the other!

No way, I heard Black Parade on the radio recently and it still hangs around the itunes top 1000 so I'd say its pretty well remembered - certainly is to me

I think it's one of those, that the public isn't that familiar with but popular with those into the rock scene so to speak.

When I think of #1s from 2006, MCR is one of the first I think of.

I'm most certainly not a fan of MCR but I love the song and I think it is memorable because it was random, if that makes sense. It springs to mind before the likes of 'Maneater', 'Deja Vu', 'Sexyback' and 'It's Chico Time' anyway.

While I still remember 'Beautiful Liar', I always forget it went to #1 - same with 'Everytime' by Britney Spears.

Chicane feat. Bryan Adams - Never Give Up

Oxide & Neutrino - Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty)

Billie Piper - Day & Night

A1 - Same Old Brand New You

Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra - Touch Me

Hear'Say - The Way To Your Love

Westlife - Queen Of My Heart

S Club 7 - Have You Ever

Westlife - Unbreakable

Brian McFadden - Real To Me

Ja Rule feat. R Kelly & Ashanti - Wonderful

^ the above number 1s all made number 1 in the 21st century and I can safely say I've never heard of them (or in some cases, only heard of when youtubed) - I'm not using myself as a barometer of whats memorable or not of course :P but you would've thought they would've made some impression, but I genuinely never even hear a mention of them today, so I would call them pretty 'unmemorable' in this sense (forgive me if these are actually still heard everywhere and I just can't put a name to it :kink: )

of course there are many from the 06 period onwards that are just as forgettable but I remember as I've been following charts since then, that god awful cover of Walk This Way by Girls Aloud & Sugababes and that Islands In The Stream single from 2009 spring to mind...

How can you not of heard this genuine pop classic?!

The Bryan Adams song is 'Don't Give Up' btw.

I can understand them not being able to recall that Hear'Say single but I have no idea how he hasn't heard 'Have You Ever' before? :o

The Way To Your Love is such a classic imo - by far the best thing they did.

If you're not a Manchester United fan, this is obviously an unmemorable #1.

I was thinking of this too.

Going further back....I doubt many people remember this from 1982:

No way!! 'Everybody' was by far the best thing, and only decent thing, they did.

I picked up their two albums for less than £2 back in 2003/4 (probably sold them at a car boot sale or lost them when I moved out LOL), and the only songs I liked off there where "The Way To Your Love" and an album track called "Suddenly" which was very in tune with Britney at that time!

"Stomp" was quite a random song for Steps to top the chart, especially since they only have other (and far more remembered) #1.
Agreed. I remember at the time thinking it was an anti-buy from people to stop Gareth Gates getting another week @ #1.

Not really, it was a standard Oasis lead single with standard Oasis lead single sales. Opened with 110k, their previous lead had done 180k and the next one did 75k. And LOL at "Welcome to the Black Parade" being forgotten.

That's the only Steps song I don't know! Even some of their album tracks are memorable e.g "Love You More", "I Surrender" and "Buzz"

I had heard it once before through youtube (didn't leave much of an impression) but I'd never heard of anything else other than Pure & Simple by them beforehand

Listening to it now, it does ring some bells, but I don't recall hearing it before - and I DEFINITELY wasn't unfamiliar with S Club as a child

'Welcome to the Black Parade' is in a similar league to 'Rollin', 'In The End' and other songs by those sort of bands. It is ALWAYS ranked in Kerrang! countdowns etc and remembered ^_^

Nelly - My Place/Flap Your Wings

I don't even remember how this goes and I pretty much know EVERY #1 single.
