23. DIRTY DANCING (OST)- Original Soundtrack

RELEASED: 1987

PEAK POSITION: 4

WKS ON CHART: 63

“No-One puts baby in the corner”- the ultimate chick flick? Well so many thought in 1987 when the film came out and grabbed enough of our attention to purchase the album as well. A mixture of new tracks and some 50s standards, the biggest hit from it was the Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes duet “(I’ve Had) the time of my life” which made the top again in 1991 after the premiere of the film on terrestrial TV.

1 was one of the first albums I ever heard. I heard it at my grandparents' house and loved it. :o I was only 6 at the time and I am now obsessed with The Beatles. :D

Bray said it all. Usually wouldn't be my thing but you can't hate The Beatles! My personal favourite is Let It Be

My personal favorites are Let It Be, Here Comes The Sun, Eleanor Rigby, A Day In The Life, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Yesterday, Hey Jude... I could go on and on. :D :P

22. BAT OUT OF HELL- Meat Loaf

RELEASED: 1978

PEAK POSITION: 9

WKS ON CHART: 469

An album that has sold consistently rather than spectacularly in particular time frame, “Bat Out Of Hell” didn’t achieve its peak position until 1981 and has still to date spent just 2 wks in the top 10 EVER. With only 7 tracks on the original release (three of which were made into singles) it became the very epitome of the production style of Jim Steinman’s production and songwriting capabilities, creating a partnership between him and Meat Loaf which persists to this day. The title track took until a 1993 re-issue to finally make the top 10 in its own right, after the huge success of “I’d Do Anything For Love”.

Don't like '(I've Had) The Time Of My Life' at all, just TOO cheesy. 'Hungry Eyes' is alright. I don't immediately recognise anything else off the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.

The title track of 'Bat Out Of Hell' is amazing, my mum used to play it all the time. Must be the lowest peaking album on this list?

Talk On Corners  I knew it would be in here but I'm still pleased to hear it confirmed, easily in my top three albums of all time, the first act that I looned over. Only one act has ever hit the same heights in my affections since.

24. The Beatles "1"

Not a fan of them, but there's probably a lot of songs on this album that I like. Lady Madonna isn't one of my favourites unfortunately

23. OST "Dirty Dancing"

Everyone knows I prefer the Black Eyed Peas' cover of "The Time" Hungry Eyes is good but I much prefer the underated cover by Eyeopener, which reached #16 in 2004.

22. Meat Loaf "Bat Out Of Hell"

This album has some amazing songs on it!

You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth

Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad

Bat Out Of Hell

Dead Ringer For Love  (OK this wasn't on the album but I still love it)

Heaven Can Wait

Great to see this on the chart :D

21. LEGEND- Bob Marley & The Wailers

RELEASED: 1984

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 424

Another perennial favourite this finished the 80s at No 17, the 90s at 64 and the 00s at 148. It opened with 11 straight weeks at No 1 and sold roughly a million in each decade- slow and steady sometimes wins the race! Marley’s death in 1981 seems to secured an eternal demand for his music.

Oh Daniel. :(

I can never not love a club song

Not a fan of Bob Marley, but this Jammin' song is good. I also like "One Love" and "Every Little Thing Is Gonna Be Alright" from him

Like '1' but perhaps to a slightly lesser extent, every track on 'Legend' is pretty much a classic in its own right. I'm not the biggest Bob Marley fan but the likes of 'No Woman, No Cry', 'Three Little Birds' and 'Buffalo Soldier' are undeniable.

20. SPIRIT- Leona Lewis

RELEASED: 2007

PEAK POSTION: 1

WKS ON CHART:103

X Factor girl done good, “Spirit” entered at No 1 on the strength of 375k becoming the fastest selling debut of all time until that woman Susan Boyle overtook her. A deluxe issue in 2008 including her version of “Run” helped the album to return to the top all over again.

Bleeding Love

The second album on this countdown which I own. Bleeding Love is absolutley stunning! I really like Better in Time, Run, and Forgive Me, too!
Spirit  Unlike EVERYONE else, I still marginally prefer Spirit to Echo. Bleeding Love, Better In Time, Angel, I Will Be, The Best You Never Had, Footprints In The Sand, and from the re-release Run and Forgive Me are all absolutely excellent. For such a huge song at the time, and one that was expected to attain classic status quickly, I rarely hear Bleeding Love anywhere these days :(
