I present my 37,000th post on BuzzJack :D

'The Drugs Don't Work' is brilliant and far better than 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' IMO, so it was the deserved #1 of the pair. I think this is quite an unpopular opinion though.

I agree.

Far prefer The Drugs Don't Work, Lucky Man and Sonnet to Bittersweet Symphony but admittedly (and perhaps criminally) I've never listened to Urban Hymns.

The Drugs Don't Work was knocked off of #1 by the Best Selling single of all time, Elton John - Candle in the Wind.

Talk On Corners and Urban Hymns love both albums The Drugs Don't Work, excellent single, I was a mad Corrs fan at the time
Don't really like Simon & Garfunkel from what I've heard of them.

On the other hand, The Verve!!!! Bittersweet Symphony is my favourite song from them by far, I also like The Drugs Don't Work. It's MOR at it's best - not painfully boring like some people in this chart.

Not being funny but please stop calling EVERYTHING in this chart MOR, half of it you've labelled as such isn't at all.

16. BACK TO BEDLAM- James Blunt

RELEASED: 2004

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 120

If it weren’t for “You’re Beautiful” it’s highly doubtful if this album would have been noticed at all. Released in late 04 it did next to nothing only coming to life when the aforementioned track started to pick up airplay, but once it did catch on it really flew off the shelves. With sales of over 3 million it was the best selling album of the 00s even if it has proved a bit of millstone around his neck after the ubiquity of its most famous track.

I own a surprising amount of these, I bought Back To Bedlam just before it blew up, the week after I bought You're Beautiful on single (when it entered at #12 which I assumed would be its peak!). I actually love the album too, even though I know it's deeply unfashionable to admit to this.
Thank god they played this and not You're Beautiful :drama: still very boring, I never liked James Blunt - am glad that he is no longer relevant.
Ergh. The second James Blunt put out something even VAGUELY listenable ('Stay The Night') he immediately started flopping. 'You're Beautiful' is just atrocious, I will never understand how that was such a big hit (and even #1 in the USA - what?!)

15. COME ON OVER- Shania Twain

RELEASED: 1998

PEAK POSTION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 131

6 top 20 singles kept this in the public eye through 98-99 but didn’t finally make it into the top 10 until 15 months after release. This mainly due to the success of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” which helped the album sell 2 million in 99 alone, the first time a female soloist had done this, sadly she never replicated this success.

James Blunt is just awful, I'm not sure I've actually ever liked anything he's done.... 1973 is bearable perhaps but that's really it.
Shana Twain! Now this is much better  I would prefer it if R2 played "That Don't Impress Me Much" but this song is good too
SHANIA  Come On Over is fantastic, I can see how she paved the way for the likes of Carrie Underwood (QUEEN OF MUSIC) and Miranda Lambert (ie two of my top 5 singers ever) by mixing country with pop and popularising that sound. That Don't Impress Me Much and You're Still The One are my two favourites - much as I do like it I feel Man I Feel Like A Woman is a little overrated.
Why aren't they playing Man I Feel Like a Woman or That Don't Impress Me Much? :o They are my favourites! You're Still the One is good, but it's nothing compared to MIFLAW or TDIMM!

Can't stand Shania Twain either.

Is BJ being REALLY slow for anyone else?

I only bought Come On Over last year but it's definitely a great album. The right songs were picked for the 29 singles from it though. Love You're Still The One.

14. RUMOURS- Fleetwood Mac

RELEASED: 1977

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 479

This was the first album by the band to hit No 1 way back in 1977, it was originally going to be called “Yesterday’s Gone” and was a much bigger album, initially, over the pond where it spent 31 wks at No 1. It’s since become something of classic and is home to several tracks that most people know even if you don’t know it’s them, one of course being “Dreams” as covered by the Corrs in 98, and “The Chain” used for Formula Coverage on the Beeb.

Two great songs in a row! This is my favourite song by Fleetwood Mac  I do love the recent cover by Lissie but the original is still the best imo.
