I think you all know about my current obsession with Greyson Chance, and I've entered his song Running Away to BJSC. I'd been enjoying his first album, Hold On 'Til The Night, so much that until a few days ago I never thought about a second album.

In Malaysia, there was some "Greyson Day" event thing that Greyson appeared in via. webcast, and apparently he confirmed that ALL songs had been recorded for the second album, and they just need to be remixed and produced! We could be looking at a June/July release for this album! Very excited for new music, hoping it's something along the lines of the first album.

I just went looking to see if I made a topic for this, I thought I had, but obviously not as this is the thread that it flagged up! An interesting post above, lol, as Greyson's second album finally came out on Friday, almost 8 years after his debut. An EP did indeed come in 2012 so the information above wasn't entirely inaccurate - Truth Be Told, Pt. 1 was released that autumn - and we got another EP in 2016 followed by some standalone singles, but this album almost never came. Greyson quit music to focus on his studies in 2016, but after a reality check, he finally completed his second full album and released it last Friday, preceded by single shut up and promo track timekeeper.

It's quite a contrast from Hold On 'Til the Night, which remains an album I adore a lot still. That one's full of youthful naivety, even though it's pretty mature lyrically for an album released by a 13 year old. However, some of it hasn't dated so well - tracks like Little London Girl (even though it bops a lot) and Cheyenne notably - and his music has moved on quite a lot. So here we have portraits, an album where Greyson explores his sexuality after coming out as gay in 2017. He sings about falling in love for the first time, and this time around, he's well aware not everything's perfect and that naivety is definitely gone. However, it makes for an even better album. It's cohesive, meaningful and just the pop album that we need in 2019. It's a special one and one that I think will define 2019 for me, just how Hold On 'Til the Night defined my 2011. It's especially cool because Greyson was born in the same year as me. I'm growing up with both him and his music, and I don't want that journey to end any time soon.

Particular highlights are shut up, yours, timekeeper and black on black, as well as seasons nineteen, an update on standalone single Seasons from 2017!

yours is single 2 and the video premiered last night!

It's brilliantly shot and visually gorgeous, not a lot happens but the video is definitely well suited to the song

This is slowly but surely creeping up on Jack & Jack to become my favourite album of the year so far  Wasn't expecting to love it as much as I am. Every song (even plains and lights, the latter I find myself laughing at every time I hear it lmao x) fits perfectly, and you can tell it's something he's been working hard on for a while to get just right.

white roses is the clear highlight of the album for me, but I love the lyrics in songs like yours, black on black, stand and timekeeper. Not even going to attempt a rank either because everything's too good.

On Monday, Greyson announced his first ever world tour - the Portraits World Tour, including a date in London for the UK! I'm finally getting to see him live, after over 8 years of stanning   a meet & greet ticket too, only £33 for a photo, M&G, exclusive acoustic set and Q&A :o

This is also a brilliant interview where Greyson talks about his sexuality, coming out and the differences between Hold On 'Til the Night and portraits:

Oh and this is firmly my favourite album since Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood now

Still can't believe I missed out on a M&G ticket, should've just went for it (without travel or accommodation x) Cannot wait to see him live though

That interview's a really good read - love that he loves white roses as much as he seems to, too. The meaning behind it makes it all the more heartbreaking too.

I had the pleasure of seeing Greyson live at both his London dates this past week, and they were both two of the most special moments of my life. Not only did I finally see one of my favourite artists live, I also met him! He was incredibly sweet and very appreciative of all of the fan support he received.

The set was made up of the entire portraits tracklist as well as a small selection of tracks from 2016 onwards (unsurprisingly no songs from the debut), and he performed them SO well. He belongs on the stage and somehow every song sounded even BETTER live?? I gasped at Back on the Wall the first night, I knew he'd performed some tracks from the Somewhere Over My Head EP earlier this year but hadn't seen any recent setlists so it was an amazing surprise! He also sang an acoustic song at the start of the VIP meet & greet each night too - Saturday's song was stand, and Sunday's was a new song called cold water friend!

Setlist:

1. west texas

2. bleed you still

3. seasons nineteen

4. timekeeper

5. overloved (new song)

6. Good as Gold

lights interlude

7. black on black

8. Back on the Wall

9. yours

10. lakeshore

11. Low

12. stand

13. shut up

Encore

14. white roses

He properly TROLLED the audience both nights - before performing stand, he gave some backstory, about how it's been 10 years since he became famous from "a cheeky little Lady Gaga cover", before playing the opening notes of his Paparazzi cover, then saying "f*** that I'm not playing that shit" :drama:!!! bitch x
