'Turn Up The Music' got released two weeks ago and I just checked the release schedule and the album isn't out until 7th May. Why?! Shouldn't it have been released straight after the single went to #1? Why the delay?

Same with Labrinth's album. It came out two weeks after 'Last Time' was released. Weren't albums traditionally always released the week after the single? Why wait an extra week when you could release it straight after the single charts (and airplay, promotion, interest etc is at it's highest)?

Maybe it's to do with scheduling the album's release around available promotion but having to release the lead single sooner rather than later due to public demand? Although, in Chris' case, I don't even know if he's allowed to promote in the UK yet.
Not always, this has always happened fairly regularly since the 80s certainly. "true blue" all the early kylie albums and even big 90s albums such as"what's the story" did not follow immediately from the first single.
It depends on what you mean by "traditionally". For a long time the album was generally released around the same time as the second single.
Think Electronic Earth waited an extra week to release during the easter holidays?
Probably so the lead single can build in popularity, get more airplay and increase anticipation for the album, if the first one succeeds then the second one is bound to get a very good first week position. Particularly with OA/OS releases, the parent album could not perform as well as expected if not given time for hype to build
