It looks like OA/OS is the best idea for rock bands. You Me At Six, Arctic Monkeys and now Linkin Park have had top 40 hits using this method. The real question is can Linkin Park hold up as well as 'R U Mine?' and 'The Swarm'?

Even if it were to do the same thing as their "Rolling In The Deep" cover (enter, shoot up into the top 15, plummet back down again) it'll easily go top 40 since RITD was released a little later in the week and still made #42.

Given it's an album lead single and the music video has apparently already been filmed, plus being playlisted by Radio 1 is likely, I'm expecting a peak between 21 and 40 similar to Paramore's "Monster".

Same, a part of me thinks it may have a chance of peaking in top 20, but we'll see I guess!

When is Justin Bieber's new video being released then, next week? I guess if it does drop out, it'll be back?

Linkin Park  to 24.

Maybe the capitalisation of BURN IT DOWN is deliberate? Makes it more prominent and therefore it's subliminally advertising it. Would explain Adele's huge sales.

Let's not forget another act that is all in capitals, who have a million seller and a 500k+ seller. Yes I'm talking about LMFAO :kink:

And The Jam one is only half-right anyway because it was a double A-side with "Precious". For 30 years, I've though the other side was called "A Town Called Malice" - turns out I was wrong

Even if you list it as a double A-Side, it always appears as 'Town Called Malice / Precious' and never the other way around.

Didn't realise "Burn It Down" was OA/OS here, it's ALREADY beaten the iTunes peak of "The Catalyst" which was held back. Top 10 please.

OA/OS always seems to produce better peaks for rock bands so I'm not surprised (although I didn't know the song was being released today so I was a little surprised to see it suddenly so high; I was aware that Linkin Park has a new song though). Just look at how well 'Rolling In The Deep' did for Linkin Park and that wasn't even a proper single while this one is.

I was thinking that! Or maybe that's what it's officially called, a bit like 'SING' by My Chemical Romance? Either way, quite clever. I think it will go top 10 on iTunes at this rate and maybe top 20 officially if it doesn't plummet by the end of the week.

I doubt it because on the album pre-order page all the tracks are in capitals, whereas with "SING" it was a stylistic thing in the same way as S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W on the same album. Not every track was capitalised.

Maybe they're just stylising the entire album like that? It might be an error / marketing strategy but if they've added the entire album pre-order as well as the 'Burn It Down' single like that I get the feeling it's supposed to be like that. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

You made me think for a second there that this was one of these 'instant gratification' album pre-order songs that'd be ineligible for the chart :P

Primadonna just refuses to climb.

thats because the song is shit haha

Thankfully not, they're not Coldplay big any more so I doubt they could get a hit single that way

It's not her best but if she can't manage a top 10 hit with her lead single then she'll never get one.

thats because the song is shit haha

Your logic is so flawless wow.
