Expect an itunes chart bumming of Will I Am the nations hero for writing a song

 

lol. I hope so. :lol: I doubt it will happen though, as it was always fairly known that the BEPs often wrote their own lyrics, so it wouldn't exaclty come as a surprise to people. Not to mention, the vast majority of people really don't care who writes the lyrics to songs.

I check the chart this morning, only to a see a long-forgotten minor John Legend hit at #2! :o :o

I think that'll be enough for it to get in the top 40 this week? It's still got 3 hours more sales to go aswell, and it's got the top 10 promotion now too.

I reckon it could go back in the top 10 one day though. Seeing the boosts it usually gets, all it would take is for it to appear on 3 or 4 high profile TV shows in one night. Knowing the British public, that's actually likely to happen one day. :lol:

^ I really hate that song, but I think it'll be one of those "classic" songs in the future where people are shocked by how low its chart peak is (although if you know anything about how the UK responds to that type of music it wasn't really that shocking). Same with Hey, Soul Sister (although I actually like that song).

He's a black American R&B singer, a bit like Ne-Yo or Usher, but he doesn't do the generic crap, only the soulful stuff.

For those writing We Are Young off already, I think we can compare it to Somebody That I Used To Know. It had quite a lot of a hype surrounding it after its succes in Australia (although not as much as WAY), and after the same amount of time i don't even think STIUTK was even T40 on iTunes. The fact that some unknown band can peak at #2 on iTunes within its first week is frankly remarkable.
This is hardly related but when it was out in Australia, STIUTK had 0 hype, promo or anything, even though it took a few weeks to chart there was still none when it eventually debuted at #30, I think it's chart run was something like 30-7-4-3-3-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1... etc :o Not to fun. will go on to sell 1 million like Gotye, but the fact just a bit of hype from being #1 in America and Australia gets then to #1 is indeed just remarkable, especially with next to no airplay and 0 promo!

Yes, it was #10 on iTunes on 12/3/11, but peaked at #17 overall.

 

It's sold ~338.5k in total (80.5k, 2012).

Yeah, Skinny Love missed the top 10 officially. I remember, it only actually peaked at #10 on iTunes, and wasn't there for very long (much like Set Fire to the Rain and Marry the Night).

Primadonna is already in Top 200!! This song needs to be huge!! It has very good melody!! I'm glad for B.O.B too. "So good" makes my mood.."Skinny Love" will be Top 30 for sure the next week!! I recognise her talent and i don't blame her as others in Buzzjack. Birdy is a raw talent!!

Looking at the release schedule, Keane's album is out on a dead week (other major-ish releases from B.o.B, Chris Brown, Cover Drive, The Cribs, Damon Albarn, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, King Charles, Ren Harvieu and Richard Hawley) so based on this single doing decently well they should be able to get a fifth debut at #1 in a row fairly easily, matching Coldplay. Their opening sales should beat that of 'Night Train' with this being a proper album rather than just an EP.

I'm kind of being overly dramatic. :lol: I but I do love that song and Estelle. Her recent album is absolutely brilliant. And she's a cool person too (racism aside :lol:).

I can't believe how well John Legend has done. I think fun. have lost out on a #1 single now, Carly seems too far ahead, she looks pretty safe for a 3rd week at #1. Even Gotye is probably looking safe for another week in the top 5.

 

And the Voice next week is on Saturday and Sunday, it should make an interesting week with a lot of old tracks resurfacing -_-
