Oh dear God. The album charts need a real shake-up!

It had a decent 'shake up' recently over easter but new albums seem incapable of staying high up the album chart...i think they are going to start having an OA/OS style release for albums in the future they cant keep holding off albums people want to hear for months with 3 single releases - it just leads to high peaks and massive drops whereas adele and ed sheerans albums stay top 10 for an age - probably because they have great release strategies and get plenty of continued promo throughout each single release!

I'd not even heard about the video until Radio 1 started playing 'Call Me Maybe' - so claiming its success was the result of the viral video is over-exaggeration. The actual music video is actually a huge talking point regarding the song in the UK, so that - along with the radio support and great chorus are probably heavier factors as to why it's been successful.

Not much happening from #41-100 - 'Moves Like Jagger' only falls 42-43, 'Price Tag' climbs above 'Someone Like You' (on 64 + 65 weeks in the T100 respectively). Lana Del Rey advances 53-45 with 'Blue Jeans' though, which is good news. If it's performed on The Voice UK next week, it'll definitely be a new entry inside the top 40 for that week - I'm just hoping it can creep in this week.

CRJ would have went to no1 only this week if it had been held back, prob selling 130k this week and falling to 70k next week and down the chart!
