Wow Paula Radcliffe she hasnt ran in a age. I hope she does well.

She ran in the Vienna half in April with Bronchitis and it was a disaster, all gone a bit quiet since. Apparently she's had a niggle in her foot. She definitely won't win, but I hope for her sake she can just get to the games fit and healthy this time.

The torch travels through my town tomorrow! I've been especially picked to go and 'support' my rowing club at Dorney Lake (the site of the Olympic rowing which is closed off to the public) who are rowing the torch down the lake (which I did actually have a chance of doing that but wasn't lucky enough :() so that's all exciting and I've practically got the whole day off! :cheer:

Our football team is absolutely terrible. Talk about a bunch of average players. Getting an absolute pasting off Brazil.
To be fair this is essentially Brazil's first team, anything other than a pasting was going to be a good result unfortunately. Christ knows what Pearce is thinking about with that defence though. Get Caulker on.

Very true, although they are missing 1/2 players that would probably play in their first team. Regardless we shouldn't be getting dominated like we are doing. Clueless in every sense, our defence is bloody hopeless. The midfield isn't much better either. Second best to everything, Brazil aren't even playing at half of what they're capable of.

To be fair the teams only been together for around 2 weeks and it's a one off, which we wouldn't have bothered with if the Olympics were elsewhere

Brazil on the other hand are desperate to win since they've never won olympic gold in football. They've also had the added luxury of not having any competitive matches since they've already qualified for next years world cup and the Copa America was last Summer

Although, I don't have much hope for a GB team with Stuart Pearce in charge

I think we did fairly well, particularly in the second half considering this IS Brazil's first team, and they've been building up to this competition for the last 12 months. and almost the entire squad (if not all of it) will be in their World Cup squad. After last years catastrophic failure they've completely ditched all of their older players and this is now their first team, David Luiz and possibly Dani Alves were the only overage players that missed out on this squad.

Lucas Leiva!

We were much better in the second half. Butland looked a lot better in goal than Steele, and our defence tightened, and the biridge between midfield and attack was seemingly solved.

I forgot about Lucas, I just looked down the list of 'last called up'. The older players like Cesar, Lucio, Maicon and Robinho don't get near it, even Ramires hasn't been in the squad for their last 10-12 games.

Butland is class, he's a superb prospect and definitely the long-term challenger to Hart. Made sense to play Steele for 45 minutes because of where the match was but ultimately he is a championship keeper, certainly at this stage in his career anyway.

I dont think England stand a cat in hells chance in the footie. Doesnt matter who the coach is the players arent there . 100 metres gonna be great I can definetely see Bolt being beaten by Blake and Blake doing a Bolt grabbing 100/200mtrs titles, fastest in the world this year in both events think he will break both WR's 2.
Still think Bolt will win 100 & 200 metres. Really don't think he's let his body be purposely anywhere near it's best recently.
 wonder what odds are on Blake 2 triumph just checked 13/8 cor there not v attractive.Definetely gonna put a wager on Christine Ohurougo she is a shoe-in I think.

UAE!!!! Especially after the shock of Japan beating Spain earlier.

Think GB will really struggle to get out of the group.

Women's cycling first silver medal for GB only watched last 20 minutes was good though.Pity about Cavendish in the mens hyped up abit 2 much me thinks. Go Adlington 2night.Glad Lochte beat Phelps last night.

Team GB need a draw from the Uruguay game to get through, I can't call it after seeing how little the Uruguayans seem up for it.

None of them are fit. I hope Uruguay go out for selfish reason. GB are capable of a draw, we looked decent against UAE who are not a bad little side. The changes Pearce made certainly benefited the shaped of the team. But again around the hour mark we really looked like a ticking time bomb. A bit of skill from Bellamy got us out of it, but for 20 minutes we were living on a knife edge. My worry is our defence is weak. If Cavani and Suarez show up, we could be in for a bumpy ride.

Uruguay were disappointing, but as Rooney says it depends whether Cavani and Suarez turn up or not

If we draw vs. Uruguay and finish 2nd in the group, we'd avoid a potential clash with Brazil until the final, which would give us a good chance of winning a medal
