Welcome one and all to the Royal Ashton Concert Hall in Morpeth Cove capital city of the Federal Republic of Ashton for BJSC:RELOADED I. I am Queen Tone Damli Aaberge of Ashton and Tinnmark and shall be your host for this series of contests.

 

 

Four and a half years ago the Buzzjack Song Contest was formed as a way to promote the sharing and discovery of new music throughout the Buzzjack world. As part of the 5th anniversary of the contest Ashton is hosting a rerun of the earliest contests to introduce the many newcomers to the classics that were hidden throughout the early days.

 

 

 

You will be able to vote for 23 countries out of the original 24. Charisma has been withdrawn after The Buzzjack Broadcasting Union ordered all copies of their entry be destroyed so it could not be used as a torture device. If you were one of the participating countries in BJSC I and are voting in this YOU MAY NOT vote for yourself. All the other nations can vote for any of the 23 entries. The points system in use will be the standard ESC system of 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

 

The other change from the original contest is the use of the studio version of Believe Again. This was the version FSR Rontvia intended to enter but due to an intern reading the rules incorrectly was not entered. ((This is the only change that will be made to entries as this was a genuine mistake during the very first contest when everyone was a bit unsure of what was happening.))

 

(Countries with a * after their name entered this contest under a different name and this has been updated for continuity. Ashton entered BJSC I and II as Fotherington Islands but Ashton is used in the official resources)

The observant and obsessed amongst you will notice that this is the original running order for the final. II to VI will have 10 AQs to the final where Semi's are required in keeping with the original contests.

 

 

Please take into consideration whilst voting in BJSC:RELOADED that the concept of cheapness had not yet arisen and it would be a couple of contests before BJSC really got into the swing of things. This is why the Anti-Cheap Legislation champions Kopecka and Ashton are being represented by Jordin Sparks and 2.0.

 

 

Please send all votes to me, Silas, by 6pm on May 5th 2012. That is six o'clock in the evening on May 5th. Results will be that evening provided the new scoreboards are working. SNÁ and ASC have been working tirelessly with AshTec (the manufacturer) since the fourth TBO to overcome the technical difficulties faced during that final.

THE (2nd) GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME had better walk off with this replay, 17th did not impress me first time around. In fact, I can't even comprehend what people were listening to for Believe Again to be called the 7th worst song of the lot :mellow:

Interesting to say the least! A lot of these songs have been heard of by my ears before so it certainly does make voting a bit harder.

Ooh, yes, yes, yes!

 

I bet Believe Again will take this by storm, would be very deserving.

There were quite a few foreign language ones here, that surprises me (well, about 4, which in a final of 23 is quite a lot)! :o And as I love Paramore, yes, although it's one of the weaker ones off Riot...

Sorry Rich, but no one in any of these contests could ever compare to the power of Spice...

I am definitely rooting for Nelly or Sugababes victory. Both very iconic in my own world :wub:

Thinking back, I'm pretty sure I gave my first ever 12 to Say You'll Be There :lol: The problem is, over 50% of this selection is 'cheap/uninspired' but most of the inspired entries were crap, so I have the same dilemma voting now as I did back then!

Spice Girls also took my 12 last time. Believe Again got like 2 points from me. Shameful I know.

In fairness Jordin wasn't really that well known at the time! It was more in line with the sorts of entries we got later on like Just Dance/I Kissed A Girl which seemed really inspired at the time but really quickly became seemingly not so, which didn't matter so much then but did about a year later when people started sending stuff literally a month away from being a smash.

 

Anyway, my 12 is likely to go the same way as it did at the time - I Go To The Beach was divine :heart: Still insist that could've won a few contests later! Shiny Toy Guns better outperform their original result too.

I'm wondering how to vote for these songs. It's easy to just rank these in order of what I adore the most. Then I'm thinking, if I was voting for my faves in March 2006 (or whenever BJSC I was first hosted), would I have deducted points from tracks I already knew prior to the contest.

 

If I go with the first, 'Say You'll Be There' would get points from me. If I went with the second option, it would've got 0 points for being uninspiring...and 10 years old.

I will maybe get round to listening to these tomorrow. Depending on how many of these Reloaded contests we do we'll get to revisit my first era in BJSC! Those were indeed the days.

Right, I'm going to vote as if this was BJSC - The Best Of because sometimes in a monthly contest I might give a track 1 point but it continues growing to the point I end up liking the song much more (a bit like 'Call My Maybe') so would deserve some bigger points.

 

Will give the tracks I'm unfamiliar with a listen, then send my votes.
