11. Samantha Mumba - Always Come Back To Your Love

Genuinely amazing.

And I didn't think anyone else (except Leona loons - though perhaps you are one?) loved 'I See You', her best track for me!

i'm sure we had one of these topics before, but nearly 18 months on our tastes would differ (and you're all now half-allowed to include "Bad Romance", celebrate GaGa goons x)

really? 18 months would not change my favourite songs of all time.

You've been listening to music far longer than most of us, though.

I suppose back in the 80s my favourite songs would have changed a lot in 18 months
I could totally spend about six weeks trying to find a satisfactory order for this but here we go...

01 Madonna 'Hung Up'

02 Shakira 'Don't Bother'

03 Roísín Murphy 'You Know Me Better'

04 Gwen Stefani 'What You Waiting For?'

05 Kylie Minogue 'Love At First Sight'

06 No Doubt 'It's My Life'

07 Madonna 'Jump'

08 Dannii Minogue 'You Won't Forget About Me'

09 Jennifer Lopez 'Waiting For Tonight'

10 Anastacia 'Rearview'

11 Gwen Stefani 'Wonderful Life'

12 Shania Twain 'That Don't Impress Me Much' (original mix)

13 Fergie 'Glamorous' ft Ludacris

14 Cher 'Believe'

15 Namie Amuro 'What A Feeling'

16 Kelly Clarkson 'Behind These Hazel Eyes'

17 Lindsay Lohan 'Over'

18 P!nk 'I'm Not Dead'

19 Natalie Bassingthwaighte 'This Can't Be Love'

20 Monrose 'Hot Summer'

FAB!

I don't mean this in a JUDGEMENTAL way, but do you really not think anything from before 1998 would enter your top twenty of the greatest songs of all time?

really? 18 months would not change my favourite songs of all time.

This is a site populated by teen loons who spaff themselves stupid over half-arsed lead singles by second rate girl groups that could easily pass for B-sides, or cheap covers by two-bit nobodies, and list them as being amongst the top ten greatest songs human civilisation has yet produced. It's fair to say most of these lists are missing a great deal of consideration.

ANYWAY, my list keeps on evolving (which will make my continuing countdown of the greatest 228 tracks of all time a little ~complicated~) but (in no particular order as I don't wish to spoil aforementioned countdown when I get around to finishing it in the next three years) my top twenty would include the following:

ABBA - The Day Before You Came

ABBA - One of Us

Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

Amy Winehouse - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

Everything But The Girl - Missing (Todd Terry Mix)

The Fugees - Ready Or Not

Goldfrapp - A&E

Hedwig & The Angry Inch - The Origin of Love

Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

Kylie Minogue - Confide In Me

Madonna - Frozen

Madonna - Like A Prayer

Madonna - The Power of Good-bye

Prince - Little Red Corvette

Prince - Purple Rain

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

Nelly Furtado - Try

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U

The Sound of Arrows - Into The Clouds

Very FEM-HEAVY of course but that's how my preferences go, according to several months rigorous study.

LOVING the Wuthering Heights love from a few others!

There would be a good two or three pre-98 Madonna tracks in there had I not decided to limit her inclusion! Also I came close to including GoldenEye. To be fair though I was born in the 90s so stuff from prior to then doesn't tend to hold the same nostalgia value for me as stuff I was hearing as a kid.

And that does come off RATHER JUDGY love.

I don't think I could physically choose my Top 20. I have too many favourite songs, different ones for different moods. Although most of my faves are generally album tracks. ;)
Amy Winehouse - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

The single best version of that song ever recorded.

It's fair to say most of these lists are missing a great deal of consideration.

True that. I feel my list needs a bit of Nightwish for variety but I can't think WHICH ONE!

But I do agree with you on a few of these, I'm no saint when it comes to keeping my love for really recent songs in check in these things but including several recent (as in the last year and a half or so) big hitters that are probably going to change in a few years time is probably a LITTLE premature. I expect half my top 20 won't be the same in a few years. But the very recent ones I HAVE included I am 100% sure about for the moment (Happiness and Fireflies mainly)

LOVING the inclusion of One Of Us by the way, that's an ABBA song I always thought was incredibly underrated for some reason, and would probably get very close, if not just inside, my own top 100.

I have not a clue.

Feeder - Feeling A Moment

Sara Bareilles - Love Song

Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up

Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?

t.A.T.u - All The Things She Said

Off the top of my head, these would be up there though...

+

Girls Aloud - Untouchable

Sugababes - Round Round (maybe)

Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

Natasha Bedingfield - These Words

Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive

I can never put a song that I've only just discovered anywhere near my top 20, I have to wait at least a year or even longer to see how it ages, I've found there aren't many from 2010 that would qualify, but 2011 seems to have a few that could actually be up there soon
Agreed, I don't think anything less than a year is enough time to know a song well enough to judge it to be an 'all time Juranamo classic'. :o

My top 20, in alphabetical order:

  • ABBA- The Winner Takes It All
  • AC/DC- Back In Black
  • Adele- Make You Feel My Love
  • Black Sabbath- Paranoid
  • Bob Dylan- Knockin' On Heaven's Door
  • Bob Marley- Three Little Birds
  • Coldplay- Viva La Vida
  • Elton John- Candle In The Wind
  • Elvis Presley- In The Ghetto
  • Eminem- My Name Is
  • Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys- Empire State Of Mind
  • Jeff Buckley- Hallelujah
  • John Lennon- Imagine
  • Kanye West- Stronger
  • Kings Of Leon- Sex On Fire
  • R.E.M- Everybody Hurts
  • Rihanna ft. Eminem- Love The Way You Lie (Part II)
  • Run-D.M.C- Walk This Way*
  • Sam Crooke- A Change Is Gonna Come
  • The Beatles- All You Need Is Love

* = Don't even get me started on the Girls Aloud/Sugababes "cover."

Alyssa's so high up mainly because of how many plays I've given it since I discovered it in January, it's had around 500 plays (all versions combined), and I'm still nowhere near bored of it. ^_^

I'm the same, although I try not include anything younger than 18-24 months in my list. You have to live with something for a decent amount of time to know whether it's going to being enduringly amazing. As it happens there's only one song from 2011 that could potentially scale the lofty heights of top 20 of all time for me anyway, and indeed there was only one from 2010.

I've been trying to compile the list of my favourite songs of all-time for MONTHS now. I just don't want to forget anyone or anything.

I expect the moment of me actually looking at the final list would be the greatest accomplishment of my LIFE.
