I think there is an element of that to it, it already happened before with Mdiče in XXXIX, when Charlie XCX came top 3 despite DNQing twice before :lol: Though I guess there was quite a lot of hype about her at the time too.

I really disagree. I don't think people factor in someone returning into their votes - there's too much good stuff to vote for, why on earth would people make room at the top of their votes for someone who a load of them weren't even around for at the peak of his success?

Speaking from a personal point of view, I didn't get on with the guy in his heyday and kind of resented his success, but since he's come back I'm really pleased to have him here and I feel we get on better, though it may just be that he has revealed his shared love of bears :kink:

Siding with Tirren on this, I can't see why anybody would shoehorn in/bump up a returning country to their votes if they didn't care for the song at all/enough. If KoS do well with their entry it will be based on the merit of the entry alone, even if it is lovely to have them back!

Can't say I've ever voted for a song purely because it was sent by a poster who I like even though I'm 50/50 about the track itself, or because that poster is returning. It's all about the music and that's how I vote each month.

I wasn't saying I would deliberately vote for someone just because I liked them or was pleased to see them back, just that I think the country sending a song will sometimes unconsciously effect enjoyment or voting patterns IMHO.

The only thing I go into 'bias' with regarding countries is that there are some countries who, if I haven't heard their entry, I will go to first when the songs are revealed. But I wouldn't vote for a country because I used to like them and they return, or just because I like them, if the song wasn't in my top 10.
