Like the "...square root of 69 is 8 something" line :D

lol. You can also write it as "square root of 69 is ate something", as in you eat pussy during a 69'er. You should listen to Drake's albums (if you haven't already).

After a massive debate about the musical merits of DJ Otzi, the top 50 begins! And OMG YES:

50. La Roux - IN FOR THE KILL (2009) (#2)

Easily, by far, one of my favourite songs of 2009 - the whole album is good. Saw her at V Festival 2010, one of the best shows of my life!

Surprised La Roux has surpassed Umbrella. I suppose it still had relatively strong sales in 2010 to do that.

2000s:

33: Umbrella - Rihanna featuring Jay-Z (2007)

35: In For The Kill - La Roux (2009)

I've heard a couple singles - Find Your Love, Take Care, and What's My Name, but not the albums...should I actually dare? :P

Oh, Have you not heard You Da One?

Ok, that's probably a bit below average :P

The singles from TTT should've been WFL, Drunk on Love, Where Have You Been and... Oh wait, nothing else.

And yes liamk97, listen to Drake. He's very good.

Well, if you think I'm dirty minded, then his songs are quite SOMETHING ELSE.

In For the Kill is so catchy.

Talk That Talk should have been pushed as 2nd single with a video, it probably would have done very well. I agree, Drunk On Love and Where Have You Been has been released at the perfect time imo. It can't be too close to WFL because they sound so similar.

Yeah La Roux went right back up to #28 in January 2010 thanks to the iTunes gift card effect, and remained until March, so that's where some of its extra sales come from.

Ooh boy, we'll be hearing way more of this girl to come:

49. Adele - MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE (2008) (#4 in 2010)

I'm not the biggest fan of Adele but this Bob Dylan cover is rather pleasant :) Nowhere near as overplayed as some of her stuff.

Ah! Completely forgot that :o

Some of the dates they're providing for these singles are questionable. Lots of 2004 dates for songs from 2000-2. Stated January 2008 for 'Make You Feel My Love' but it didn't chart until October of that year. *Being picky*

I'll have a listen after 7! :D

Speaking of beautiful ballads...

48. Christina Perri - JAR OF HEARTS (2011) (#4)

Simply stunning. First released in the US in 2010 but only charted here the following year. First heard this on 'Glee' of all programmes.

It's funny how Jar of Hearts, Empire State of Mind Part II and Make You Feel My Love are all massive #4 hits.
Me too, would be interesting to know what the divide is now.

Is anyone actually going to have a go at estimating all the sales in this Top 150, once the count down has finished?

i really hope so. I have no facility to estimate sales *cough vidcapper* *coughcough gezza* but we could at least list the known sales next to current charters/last known (e.g. from the end of 2009 list). really has to be attempted to update some of these oldies with trickle sales!

We've got Joe McElderry in the studio, introducing the next song. Which is, of course:

47. Joe McElderry - THE CLIMB (2009) (#1)

Meh. Rage Against the Machine is better.

I prefer this to Rage Against The Machine by a lot. It's also better than Miley's original, IMO (but I just don't like Miley's voice).

Fingers crossed!

Here's the list of 2000-9 best sellers, but no sales attached to them either. :( http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=105128

Is it just me, or is Joe camper than ever? Bless him.
