Posted May 14, 201213 yr http://www.myanimalhome.net/ Make of it what you will. I can't even tell if it's "Centipede Hz" or "Centipede H2". This appears to be a tracklist: Moonjock Today's Supernatural Rosie Oh Applesauce Wide Eyed Father Time New Town Burnout Monkey Riches Mercury Man Pulleys Amanita Oh, I hadn't even realised they had a new track! tCK03Po10iE I am unsure of what to think. May 14, 201213 yr It's growing on me a bit with each play but I'm still very unsure on Honeycomb also Harve. Feels like I'm listening to the introduction to some warped children's cartoon.
June 21, 201213 yr Author I'm now addicted to 'Honeycomb' and warmly welcome back proper drums into the group. I hear little bits of the sounds of their last three albums. I wonder what direction they'll go in this time?
June 22, 201213 yr Author Deakin on the new album: "I remember saying, “This is going to be harder for people to swallow.” There’s no doubt about it: people are going to react to this. It wasn’t being bummed about it or a critical comment of the music or anything — I’m really stoked and I think the record’s amazing, personally. But there was an instant melodic gratification to Merriweather and I think we intentionally made a record this time that is a lot more … um … [laughs] We took a left turn at weird town. For the most part, every song, in terms of the way the record is laid out and the choices we made sonically, is way more challenging. And that’s been verified by every person I’ve played it for so far. People have said they love the record. Friends of ours have said it took them two or three times to even understand it. Merriweather is not that. From the first note of Merriweather you’re like, “Oh my God, I just wanna dance” or “My heart’s exploding.” This is more like, “This is amazing but I’m confused and I don’t quite know what’s going on and I think I need to listen to it again and maybe I should turn it off.” Urgh, what a tease! September is so far away. :(
August 22, 201212 yr Is it wrong I don't care? Everything on both of their last two albums is better than Honeycomb.
August 22, 201212 yr I never said it was.... But it's still new stuff. And it's crap. Well, they didn't include it on this album for some reason? Maybe they knew it wasn't as strong as the other tracks. Have you even heard Today's Supernatural? It IS divine.
August 22, 201212 yr That doesn't make a huge amount of sense though. Release something weak won't make anyone interested. It's better, but that's not saying too much. AC are clearly one of those bands where you can have too much of a good thing. Boring after 2 or 3 albums, no matter which ones they are.
August 23, 201212 yr Author Is it wrong I don't care? Everything on both of their last two albums is better than Honeycomb. I remember when I thought this. And then I listened to it about 5 more times and I now think it's one of the best tracks they've ever done (though it's nothing new - the Strawberry Jam equivalent to Summertime Clothes, maybe). I've got Centipede downloaded but like when many of my favourite bands release a follow-up, I'm not always immediately interested. Ehh.
September 4, 201212 yr Author http://www.tinymixtapes.com/music-review/a...ve-centipede-hz I haven't listened to this album yet, but it's not as if having done would mean this would make sense: Using themselves as the vessel, the sacrificial lambs of the notion of caricature in itself is directly related to the meme culture in which we have all been subjected to or helped along. Animal Collective choose to refute the post-humanist view that has appeared to be a sort of theme in modern music to make an album that is all too human: humanity faced with human essence in the largest of contexts.Avey Tare here is fighting on the side of emotional weight and girth. In a world full of disingenuous reductionism — the state in which the album exists conceptually and textually — one can indeed fall into a state of existential crisis feeling worthless under the weight of our society’s attachment to cynical deconstruction. The choruses have the singers forcing their way out of the confining walls of artifice and influence to reach existentially sublime planes so profound. While I can't tell how serious this site actually is, I love how it's basically a hipster doing A Level English Literature.
September 4, 201212 yr Good grief! I thought that kind of writing died out with the Melody Maker. I think someone is trying too hard to get the attention of Pitchfork.
September 5, 201212 yr LMAO i'm sorry, but i could write better reviews than that and i'm hardly renowned for my work with perfect ENGLISH
