June 9, 201213 yr Good to see Blazin' Squad demoted. That #1 was a fluke provided by a dead week, they were never really THAT popular sales-wise as shown by the fact that they only ever contended again in similar low climates - and their second highest charting single was #2 with Flip Reverse which was also on one of the quietest weeks of 2003 (the song that was #1 that week incidentally has a strong chance of ending up in this thread and has one of the lowest-selling cumulative totals for a #1 ever - in fact, for a brief period at the time it WAS, but Elvis re-issues and McFly have now knocked it down that list). Las Ketchup though?! Nooo. As I said before that song really brightened up 2002 with its infectious energy. Everyone loved it.
June 9, 201213 yr What, proving that "Bad Romance" really WAS a chance #1?! :D On both occasions, too! Edited June 9, 201213 yr by THEO.
June 9, 201213 yr I have a feeling we may have a VERY unhappy Buzzjack when we get to 2009... If it's the same song I'm thinking of, it should still make #1 but in 2010. :P
June 9, 201213 yr Bad Romance could me demoted to number 100 and it would still be monolithic. Edited June 9, 201213 yr by tonyttt31
June 10, 201213 yr Author Ok time to make some people unhappy I'm afraid.... EMINEM- LOSE YOURSELF- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d6/Lose_Yourself.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 3 Big surpise here, not so much that "Lose Yourself" is demoted, but that it can't even reach No 2! How did this happen? Well Eminem's sales in his debut week were the weakest of any of the 4 wks in December for a start, coupled with a 1-3-5 decent from the top and by the time its first three weeks were combined (21.12.02) it was up against the Xmas No 1 from Girls Aloud so it was effectively frozen out from the top 2, not having much luck is he? esm9YypmHlE
June 10, 201213 yr Author BLUE FEATURING ELTON JOHN- SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD- NON NUMBER ONE http://chartarchive.org/artwork/19306-300.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 A far more predictable one this one. In the real world it's quite a good week to release, guarantee's good sales while all the big names hold back for the XMas week but in this thread it virtually guarantee's a demotion. This track did rise to No 2 the last week of the year but it never comes within touching distance of Girls Aloud, altogether it means that Blue only get a sole chart topper out of this thread, 2001's "Too Close". June 10, 201213 yr Author and as one person predicted............... 21.12.02- THE CHEEKY GIRLS- THE CHEEKY SONG (TOUCH MY BUM)- NEW NUMBER ONE (1 WK) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1a/Cheeky_song_(touch_my_bum).jpg Yes a cheeky (gettit) promotion just in time to end 2002 for those Cheeky Girls who held up better than most during the pre Xmas rush enough to grab a week at the top just beating GA in their debut week by 4k. It was a geniunely popular record (however much it sounds paper thin now) as so probably deserves its moment of glory certainly no more or less than the Blue/ Elton song it replaces. PfuczYovAuQ
June 10, 201213 yr It's so odd that Westlife appear to have made it once more with Unbreakable-such a nothing song. I was hoping they'd lose about 10 no.1s but there's still one to come which I think they'll definitely keep. Also it's odd how some of Eminem's most popular tracks seem to get demoted too.

June 10, 201213 yr Intresting to see George Harrison still at the top. I though he was to drop as well.
Well he didn't help himself by releasing in December a lot, the time when the public lose their brains and start buying any old novelty shite, and such "serious" songs generally don't fit the traditional Christmas cheer... still happens today, in fact last year was probably the worst ever with its joke of a Christmas battle. At least The Real Slim Shady held on which is my personal favourite Eminem #1 even if it did keep the Mumba off the top. And Gezza, I believe Gareth does get 6 weeks as I said, not 5... 23/3, 30/3, 6/4, 13/4, 20/4, 27/4, then Oasis becoming #1 on 4/5 according to your list. Unless your dating is wrong, but something is definitely off regardless. :D
June 11, 201213 yr Author And if Tomcraft's Loneliness becomes a non-#1 I will not be a happy bunny :arrr: Oh dear..... TOMCRAFT- LONELINESS- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c0/Loneliness.png NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 I Suspect this is probably one of the most liked No 1 hits of the year but it doesn't cut the mustard here, unable to beat either three weeks of Busted sales or 2 weeks of R Kelly's sales it gets demoted. Even at the time it's debut at the top was on sales of 36k well below those of either the two tracks mentioned so it can't really be a surprise. Sad though. zB1ubQl-w3A
June 11, 201213 yr Author DANIEL BEDINGFIELD- NEVER GONNA LEAVE YOUR SIDE- NON NUMBER ONE http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/316W1WN6R6L._SL500_AA300_.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 Even at the time this seemed to come from nowhere and benefitted from a quiet release week and being up against "Crazy in Love" which had already been at No 1 for 3 weeks and was fast running out of speed. It's debut week sales were again around the 36k mark and by the time it had overcome Beyonce it was itself overtaken by Blu Cantrell, result= demotion. In all fairness I think most would struggle to recall it now. c64nZ2UK6Ho
June 11, 201213 yr Author ELTON JOHN- ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE?- NON NUMBER ONE http://img.wax.fm/releases/181767/elton-john-are-you-ready-for-love-170614.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 3 Oh so close for Elton who misses out by 5k on repeating his No 1 position on this thread. He was stuck between two long runners Blue Cantrell and Black Eyed Peas so maybe this isn't a shock, or the shock is how close he came? Whilst Blue Cantrell held onto No 1 the BEP's came from nowhere to debut at No 2 leaving Elton stranded at No 3 on a very close chart week under this system. FOelFUUeU7k
June 11, 201213 yr "Never Gonna Leave Your Side" may not be remembered but it's my favourite song of 2003! At the time some people called it a copy of "If You're Not The One" but to me it's a lot better.
June 11, 201213 yr Oh, so "Lose Yourself" did end up getting demoted. Two of the best #1s of the decade have already lost out and they're BOTH Eminem, how unfortunate. And thank f*** that the Cheeky Girls never made it in reality. I think as we enter a lower sales climate we'll see less genuine non-#1s lose out and far more who were just too close to a big seller since the difference between the average #1 sale and the freak massive one gets wider. Hopefully by 2006 that'll be corrected, certainly 2007/8 sales at the top were so consistently mediocre that there shouldn't be many big songs getting demoted.
June 11, 201213 yr Are You Ready For Love is brilliant... not sure if I'd say it's the best #1 of the entire year though, 2003 had a lot of great #1s (controversial to say that on BuzzJack as I know it's far from being the most popular year but :D). Don't give a shit about the other two. Even at the time they both seemed irrelevant to anything so deserving they get demoted in a year where the #1s were, on the whole, worthy and representive of the year. I recall I had never even heard of the Tomcraft song until the week it was released but that probably just shows how little attention I paid to dance music. And LOL at that Daniel Bedingfield single cover... so professional for an artist who had 2 #1s to his credit already.
