January 22, 201312 yr Author NON NUMBER ONE- PART OF ME- KATY PERRY http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/08/Katy_Perry_-_Part_of_Me.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 First release from the deluxe repackaging of the "Teenage Dream" album this snuck a week at the top in the real chart but here it is denied by an all new number one! Speculation as to whether or not the lyrics were about her ex Travis McCoy remain uncommented on... na3nCG7424Y
January 22, 201312 yr Author NEW NUMBER ONE 07.04.12- SHE DOESN'T MIND- SEAN PAUL (1 wk) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d6/She_Doesn't_Mind.jpg Yes here's that promotion (not the last either) this time for Sean Paul who finally gets that solo No 1 that 2003 denied him despite his ubiquity during the charts of that year. Few forsaw the return of the Jamaican star let alone his potential to grab a chart topper..... kdwFYgv0Kfw
January 22, 201312 yr Author NON NUMBER ONE- TURN UP THE MUSIC- CHRIS BROWN http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/53/Chris_Brown_-_Turn_Up_the_Music.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 4 Meeting, I'm sure, with almost universal Buzzjack approval Chris Brown loses his sole UK chart topper on this thread losing out to the onlslaught of Carly Rae Jepsen who saves the day. Another 1 wk wonder this is little shock here, it actually only makes No 4 even behind Gotye.........................still! fMP0FScVqgU
January 22, 201312 yr Lovely to see She Doesn't Mind as a new number one. I really wish it was number one instead of Turn Up the Music.
January 22, 201312 yr Yes for Katy Perry and Chris Brown on this list. Both were very weak #1s and didn't fully deserve the position, especially Turn Up The Music.
January 22, 201312 yr NON NUMBER ONE- PART OF ME- KATY PERRY First release from the deluxe repackaging of the "Teenage Dream" album this snuck a week at the top in the real chart but here it is denied by an all new number one! Speculation as to whether or not the lyrics were about her ex Travis McCoy remain uncommented on... So the lyrics may have been about Travie McCoy AND the song was released after her divorce with Russell Brand!
January 22, 201312 yr So the lyrics may have been about Travie McCoy AND the song was released after her divorce with Russell Brand! I think there was an older version of the song from like 1 or 2 years before on the Internet, which had different lyrics and a slightly different beat, so that one was probably about Travie, and when they re-did the song and put it on the album they probably changed the lyrics a bit to apply to Russell.
January 22, 201312 yr I think there was an older version of the song from like 1 or 2 years before on the Internet, which had different lyrics and a slightly different beat, so that one was probably about Travie, and when they re-did the song and put it on the album they probably changed the lyrics a bit to apply to Russell. Ah I see. I think there's a lyric in the 2012 version which says something about a diamond ring (i.e Russell's engagement ring to her).
January 22, 201312 yr A shame to see Katy demoted, but it was inevitable. Although she did get another from 2010, so we'll be thankful that either way she has three #1s! :P First release from the deluxe repackaging of the "Teenage Dream" album this snuck a week at the top in the real chart but here it is denied by an all new number one! Speculation as to whether or not the lyrics were about her ex Travis McCoy remain uncommented on... So the lyrics may have been about Travie McCoy AND the song was released after her divorce with Russell Brand! They may have originally been written about Travie, but the lyrics in the middle eight ("you can take the diamond ring, it don't mean nothing anyway") were changed from the demo ("you can keep the dog, I never liked him anyway"), so it was clearly released with Russell in mind :P
January 23, 201312 yr Author NON NUMBER ONE- FEEL THE LOVE- RUDIMENTAL FEATURING JOHN NEWMAN http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f9/FeeltheLove.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 Probably my favourite No 1 from last year (or certainly up there) Rudimental get a very unwelcome demotion here unable to overcome the twin evils of Fun. and Gary Barlow in a fortnight in the runner-up spot! Boo-hiss etc. l_Jlmxmn5b0
January 23, 201312 yr Author NEW NUMBER ONE- 23.06.12- WHISTLE- FLO RIDA (1 Wk) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b7/Whistle_-_Flo_Rida.jpg/220px-Whistle_-_Flo_Rida.jpg Flo's homage to his days in Physical education at school (I assume that's what the song means at any rate) :( here he is getting a promotion incase you felt sad for him getting demoted back in Jan with "Good Feeling". January 23, 201312 yr Living proof of this system not being entirely infallible :P EDIT: @ Rudimental of course. Edited January 23, 201312 yr by Bré
January 23, 201312 yr Rudimental doesn't deserve to be here at all! :( :snif: I suppose that it did outsell Gary Barlow eventually though. Edited January 23, 201312 yr by Griefle Mix
January 23, 201312 yr Rudimental no longer number one and replaced by Flo Rida! :manson: Was sort of expecting Rudimental after it's drop in the first few weeks (i.e before the millions of weeks at #7 and #8! :P) but Flo Rida was a surprise to see as a new number one.
January 23, 201312 yr Author NON NUMBER ONE- THIS IS LOVE- WILL.I.AM FEATURING EVA SIMONS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f3/Will.i.am_-_This_Is_Love.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 I feel slightly cruel for the amount of delight I get in demoting anything to do with Will.i.am but sadly "This Is Love" was sandwiched at No 1 in the real world by "Payphone" but here has to conceed to it as Maroon 5 spend 3 wks at the top. Cue angry Bre. rF3tHV2Bz00
January 23, 201312 yr That is unfortunate for Rudimental. Still seems odd how the track went to no. 1 with over 90k sales, then drop down to no. 5 before sticking around the top 10 for several weeks.
January 23, 201312 yr I actually thought Rudimental would be a surefire non number 1 at first, albeit a really good one. I was really surprised when it completely surpassed that. The song really was a HUGE grower, I would imagine a lot of people were a bit slow to come round to it! Edited January 23, 201312 yr by Chez Wombat
January 23, 201312 yr My MUM introduced me to Feel The Love. :drama:  It's such an incredible song though, it went to #9 in my 2012 EOY chart!
January 23, 201312 yr Feel the Love was a grower and crossed over to people who weren't aware of it in the week it was released. I love it.
