Surprised 'Wrecking Ball' wasn't demoted since it was preceded and succeeded by 'Counting Stars'.

Its sales were too good in week one against steady but unspectacular sales for CS

Hi Gezza, are you sure about John Newman being replaced by Avicii because he was preceded by Icona Pop and succeeded by Robin Thicke returning to the top spot?!

I'd say it's probably right because Wake Me Up came out on John Newman's third week. Songs on this tend to reach no.1 in their third week because that's when the most sales are counted. But Avicii had such massive first week sales that he sold more than John Newman's total from his first three weeks, so the latter never made number 1!

Well explained! :D

Surely you need this week's chart to compare the third week sales of the songs at the top of the chart?

I'm looking forward to seeing what's changed, hopefully Cheryl retains at least one #1.

Can't wait, I love this thread.

The thread won't end until next week so we'll know Sunday's sales by then :D

exciting!

Non-#1 Predictions:

• Tsunami (Jump)

• She Looks So Perfect

• The Man

• I Wanna Feel

• Gecko (Overdrive)

• It's My Birthday

• Me And My Broken Heart

• Crazy Stupid Love

• Lovers On The Sun

• I Don't Care

• Wake Me Up

• These Days

New #1 Predictions:

• All of Me

I wouldn't be surprised if

'Money On My Mind'

lose out to another week at #1 for

'Happy'

or for

'Summer'

to lose out to

'Waves'

.

Would be nice if

'Shake It Off'

could be made a #1 but it was behind

'All About That Bass'

the week it was #2.

NON NUMBER ONE- TIMBER- Pitbull Featuring Ke$ha

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a9/Pitbull_featuring_Kesha_-_Timber.jpg

NEW PEAK POSITION: 2

So 2014 stats with its first demotion and that goes to (almost) million selling "Timber". Someone was mentioning in this week's vidcapper thread how the song doesn't feel that big so perhaps its demotion here is to be expected, for the purposes of this thread it fails to make it past the ubiquitous "Happy" which does gain some extra weeks at No 1 (sorry y'all).

'Timber' is one of Pitbull's best but not too surprising it's been demoted. I agree that its sales seem to be bigger than it actually was - I remember not too long ago watching a Year-to-Date countdown on one of the music channels and was a little surprised to see 'Timber' at #5. I suppose hit singles from the beginning of the year have usually been less remembered - take 'Thrift Shop' and 'Scream & Shout' from last year.

NON NUMBER ONE- MONEY ON MY MIND- Sam Smith

NEW PEAK POSITION: 2

Losing out by just over 20k, again to Pharrell, is one of this year's biggest stars Sam Smith. It was unfortunate enough to be sandwiched between "Happy" and "Rather Be" and pays the price on this thread- perhaps "Stay" will have better luck later in the year?

NON NUMBER ONE- TSUNAMI (JUMP)- DVBBS & Borgeous Featuring Tinie Tempah

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4d/Tsunami-by-DVBBS-Borgeous.jpg

NEW PEAK POSITION: 3

I can't even recall this song right now so it obviously left a deep impression on me. Moving 1-5-10 in real life it can't make it past either "I Got U" or "My Love" here so gets pushed down to No 3 and was way off the pace needed to make the top.

Timber is fantastic and I'd have been devastated if it really lost out to Happy officially. Glad it had such good first week sales.

Timber was just the usual Pitbull/Kesha Sh!t you can only enjoy if you're really wasted, wasn't it?
Oh my, that Sam Smith performance of MOMM was out of this world!

I don't get these demotions?

Timber sold very well and it was everywhere at the time? Did I miss something or?

EDIT: I think I missed something as this whole thread is a blur to me, oops never mind me
