not at all surprised about HEW, that was very lucky to fall on the 5 day week otherwise it wouldn't have gone to #1 (and it must be one of the lowest selling #1s of the year alongside songs like Fight Song, Lay Me Down and of course A Bridge Over You)

911 was the gap between “House Every Weekend” and “Shine”. Fair play at using the short chart week to your advantage but it should never have been #1 really.

NON NUMBER ONE- DRAG ME DOWN- One Direction

NEW PEAK POSITION: 3

With an initial chart run reading 1-9-16 this is probably the most obvious demotion in this list. A third Demotion for the directioners following "Little Things" and "Wishing On A Star" in that respect, here it doesn't trouble the top 2.

NEW NUMBER ONE- HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE- Calvin Harris + Disciples. 1 WEEK- 20.08.15

Here's the first promotion in the thread, 8 weeks inside the top 4 does have some advantages even if you don't reach No 1. This should make up for "Summer" ,"Lose Control", and "Sweet Nothing" which all fell foul of this method of calculation, so 1D's back luck is a godsend for this!

House Every Weekend actually did pretty well, it's sold 400k+ which is decent for any song. But if there were a full 7 says (or just one more day), Shine would have easily taken the #1.

The gap I quoted was under this system not the weekly charts :D

Oh, I preferred Doctor Blind's off the top of his head system where Shine got promoted. :D

TBF 'house every weekend' would've won by a more convincing margin had streaming actually been included for that truncated week~

NON NUMBER ONE- FIGHT SONG- Rachel Platten

http://i64.tinypic.com/jzfejm.jpg

NEW PEAK POSITION: 2

Succumbing to the Bieber domination of the 4 months, "Fight Song" moved 1-2-6 on the actual chart but that third week drop meant that it doesn't make it past "What Do You Mean" on this survey coming in over 10k short of what was required.

You guessed this one was coming didn't you? In the real world its victory over Bieber was under 2k in the week it made No 1 and over 3 weeks this couldn't compete with that track and is duly demoted off the 2015 list.

Thanks Gezza, early in the day to be drinking but that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Rachel Platten peaked at #7 on the streaming chart, which I think is where it should have charted really. 47,996 sales is a bit rubbish to get to #1 with really..

NON NUMBER ONE- WRITING'S ON THE WALL- Sam Smith

NEW PEAK POSITION: 2

The first Bond single to top the charts gets instantly demoted here probably in line with the critical reception that the single got in general. It ended up roughly 12k short of overturning Bieber on this survey.

Really annoying that this became the first Bond theme to make #1. Just what were these people thinking, he also manages to evoke Deuce’s “Call It Love” and as noted everywhere Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” - it is essentially a 1995 mash-up, and not in a good way sadly. :(

Yeah it was sold on hype in it's first two weeks from mostly people who had not even heard it before buying. It then showed signs of falling fast despite huge airplay until Spectre came out which gave it a boost and stabilized it for a few weeks (Not to mention being track 1 on NOW!) . It's 15-21-37-55 chart run when the film left the cinemas goes to show the realistic popularity of the track.

NON NUMBER ONE- TURN THE MUSIC LOUDER (RUMBLE)- KDA Featuring Tinie Tempah & Katy B

http://i68.tinypic.com/13z4b7.jpg

NEW PEAK POSITION: 4

Failing to even make the top 3 on this thead (Thank Adele, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd for that) the first chart topper for both KDA and Katy B dipped 1-6-8 on the weekly chart which is the kiss of death on here. It's victory over One Direction in the weekly charts was only 2.4k so that only adds to its tenuous and fortuitous No 1 status.

Ok technically I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm pretty sure this will be added to the list of 2015 demotions with its certain plummet down the charts tomorrow. To be fair that's a not a bad thing- to argue this kind of track gives greater credence to the honour of "Christmas No 1" than X Factor isn't a ship that sails in my opinion. Anyway with that 2015 is done!
