Posted May 20, 201213 yr http://images.45cat.com/kylie-minogue-shocked-dna-7-mix-pwl.jpg Today marks the 21st anniversary of the release of 'Shocked'. This was the fourth and final song released from Kylie's third studio album Rhythm of Love. The song was the highest new entry on the week ending 1 June, debuting at #10 and in fact preventing her sister, Dannii, from climbing a place to the Top 10 with 'Success'. This made Kylie the first artist to have their first thirteen singles reach the Top 10 (however, this chain was broken by following single 'Word is Out'). 'Shocked' managed to climb to #6 the next week - her joint lowest peaking single at the time. Come year end, the song unfortunatly missed the Top 100, but it's estimated that it has sold over 100,000 to date. The chart run is as follows: 10-06-09-18-23-38-55 (first entry: 01/06/91) 7w Elsewhere in the world, 'Shocked' reached #7 in Australia, #2 in Ireland, and had some success in other countries, helping it to reach #20 on the European Hot 100. The Australian chart run is as follows: 13-07-11-11-16-15-18-19-30-42-41 (first entry: 30/6/91) 11w 'Shocked' is my least favourite single from Rhythm of Love, but I still really enjoy whenever I hear it on Ultimate Kylie. The singles from the album are such great dance tunes! Below is the video for 'Shocked', in which Kylie looks stunning as ever, and her TOTP performance! 5m_HlxVVJDw ZLsmZctoKQk Please do post your comments on the song! What would you rate it? Would you replace it with another song from Rhythm of Love?
May 20, 201213 yr Its by far my least favorite single of Rhythm of love but i like it at the same time. Did Kylie and Dannii perform on Top of the Pops the same week as i can remember watching top of the pops but cant remember if it was kylie or dannii that performed that week but the week kylie was number 10 Dannii was number 11.
May 21, 201213 yr It's my second favourite single from just behind Step Back In Time the other singles were just awful. Success is a great dannii song.
May 21, 201213 yr Better the devil you know and what do i have to do in general appear to be very popular Kylie singles, so it strange to see someone calling them awful. Better the devil you know is probably a Kylie highlight for me of her older material, the other singles i liked some and didnt like others but i actually purchased better the devil you know it was my only Kylie single purchase until i bought love at first sight. May 22, 201213 yr I know I'm sorry but I really can't stand BTDYK. I know it's a fan favourite but I just hate it.

No it was just Kylie, the TOTP rule back then was it only played climbers or those holding at a position for a third week or more (the No 1 being the exception obviously)
May 22, 201213 yr Author No it was just Kylie, the TOTP rule back then was it only played climbers or those holding at a position for a third week or more (the No 1 being the exception obviously) So Dannii will have been played the week after (as it spent 3 weeks consecutively at #11)
May 22, 201213 yr So Dannii will have been played the week after (as it spent 3 weeks consecutively at #11) Not necessarily it would depend on availability (unless you mean the video) or on how many other acts climbed that week and were available to perform in person. I believe they were always given priority over Promo shows.
May 22, 201213 yr I dont think Dannii performed looking back, but i kinda remember kylie performing shocked.
May 23, 201213 yr Author I had a look on YouTube, and they showed Dannii's Success performance when it debuted at #21
May 25, 201213 yr "Shocked" is indeed a track. The piano, the rap, the hip-house drum kicks.... sooooo 1991... sooooo good!
May 25, 201213 yr Success is vile. Shocked on the other hand is TOWERINGLY FABULOUS. It doesn't sound even remotely dated to these ears. So effortless.
