The compilation is available in all good stores across the BJSC world, apart from those in Allecian. It is expected to perform modestly sales-wise.

Not a fan of that tracklist (MS MR aside), who thought it would be a good idea to stick all the Persephonian entries at the end? Mess.

The same person who thinks it's a good idea for you to fuck off (and he's right on both accounts).

The impossible has happened: Persephonia actually win something

Jubilation is thoroughly abound across the nation as it has been officially revealed that Persephonia have won a BJSC contest.

It's not one of the main contests of course, but The Best Of: The Rejects XLI-L, a contest between all of the songs which failed to qualify for their original finals in BJSC XLI-L. Angel Haze's 'New York', which failed to qualify for Persephonia in BJSC XLVII, won the contest receiving 82 points, a lead of just 6 over second placed 'Running' by Jessie Ware representing Espen.

It should be noted that had Dalisska voted their entry 'Forever' by Haim would have in fact won, as it was within 15 points of the top spot and it was given a 15 point penalty for no votes. However, Persephonian citizens point out that 'Forever' was actually in contention to be a Persephonia entry at one stage and it is a highly popular track so while we are very thankful for Dalisska's laziness securing us a win, we would have had no hard feelings if they had voted and thus won or propelled another track to the win.

All four of Persephonia's non-qualifiers in the period made it to the semi-final stage of The Rejects, with XLVI entry Wild Belle's 'Keep You' dropping out in the semi-final stage (coming 19th with 45 points) and the other two making little impact in the final, Poliça's 'Lay Your Cards Out' (feat. Mike Noyce) from XLIII coming 22nd with 34 points and XLI entry 'Zola' by The Wonder Villains just behind in 24th place with 33 points.

In the related The Best Of: XLI-L contest Persephonia fared poorly; despite having 6 eligible tracks none reached the semi-final stage or even came top 10 in their nominations round.

Angel Haze's victory in The Rejects means she will represent Persephonia in the upcoming The Best Of: Ultimate Edition, competing against the 4 previous winners of The Rejects, 4 previous winners of The Best Of and the yet to be announced 5th The Best Of winner and the winner of Will You Remember Me Tomorrow? provided that is a different track to the TBO winners.

Roses Gabor brings Persephonia record fourth qualification in a row

The Persephonian News Bulletin has been on one if its frequent publication breaks and could not announce the unveilment of Persephonia's official entry for BJSC LI. However, we can now announce that the song has qualified, marking the first time in Persephonia's history, aside from the One Big Final era, that we have made four consecutive finals.

The track selected was 'Stars' by Roses Gabor. This track had been listed as a potential future entry for some time but finally got its chance to shine (no pun intended) for this, the 51st edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest, in Palasz Dl'Agurbash, New Svetlandiya, Numayania.

The track has caused very minor controversies regarding the fact it technically breaks Persephonia's rule of not sending artists who have previously been sent. However, as Gabor's previous appearance was only as a featured artist and on a song that failed to qualify (SBTRKT's 'Pharaohs', Mdiče's entry to BJSC XLII) and the Persephonian BJSC selection panel loved the song so much, a minor exception was made. Normal strict enforcement of the rule will continue from BJSC LII.

President Zosimus welcomes new nations ahead of re-election campaign

It is approaching the one-year anniversary of Persephonian President Salim Zosimus' unofficial rise to power, so his campaign for re-election is officially underway. At the first campaign stop, near his home in Carellis, he took the opportunity to welcome the five new additions to the BJSC map.

"Persephonia under my rule as President has been strongly focused on keeping up good foreign relations with all but Allecian through good times and bad", he announced, "and so I feel it to be of great importance that the newly founded nations of Trifoski, D'yermak'er, Alteria, Singerpurear and Cadelicia are given a warm reception".

"Persephonia has been a firm supporter of Trifoski and D'yermak'er in particular for some time and I am very pleased to see them officially establishing themselves as nations. We hope to see the same from Jayrusalem in the near future", he continued.

However, not all of Zosimus' words were entirely complimentary. Of Singerpurear, the President said "I can't deny that I have suspicions about their leadership, but Persephonia's stance is one of tolerance and we are confident that Singerpurear will soon be a prosperous and free nation. I'd like to be clear however that if Singerpurear goes the same way as certain other countries, there will be consequences".

Polls in Persephonia have determined that some 77% of the population believe it is possible that Singerpurear will start a BJSC world war. Zosimus' words are likely to greatly improve his chances of re-election, as if they were ever in doubt (most pundits predict that Zosimus has a chance of as little as 3% of not achieving re-election).

Gabor brings Persephonia its biggest hit since the glory days of Spark and Beth Ditto

Persephonian News Bulletin continues to bring news fresh and upfront on the events of four nights ago.

In the grand final of the fifty-first edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest in Numayania, Persephonia's representative Roses Gabor brought a great success as she finished fourteenth, scoring 97 points including three sets of the top score of 12 (from N DNTN, Mdiče and Skall).

A second top 10 hit for Persephonia thus remains elusive but the 14th place - matching the nation's peak in 2012 which was achieved by Kidnap Kid's 'Vehl' - is nonetheless our joint third best finish by position. And the track scored 3 points more than 'Vehl', making it the biggest Persephonian entry since Beth Ditto's 'I Wrote The Book' in BJSC XXXI, which scored 119 points to come 13th.

It displaces 'Vehl' to become the fourth highest points total achieved by a Persephonian entry, behind the Ditto track, Jónsi's 'Animal Arithmetic' which scored 142 points to come 15th in BJSC XXVI and Persephonia's proudest entry, Spark's 'Revolving' which came 6th with 156 points in BJSC XXX.

The success may seem like nothing compared to other nations, like for example Hendinia who have rattled off five consecutive top 10 hits, but for Persephonia which has a long history of flops and midtable obscurity it's a matter of national celebration.

President Salim Zosimus has promised the nation that Persephonia will return to the BJSC top 10 by the end of the year - and if 'Stars' is anything to go by 2013 is off to a very decent start.

Full final results

Continuing an incredible hit streak Aeroche won the contest for the fourth time in six contests with entry 'Northern Lights' by Kate Boy, scoring 170 points and winning by a 13-point margin. Persephonian voters contributed 3 points to this victory. The 2nd and 3rd placed songs both received 157 points; after some confusion 2nd place was awarded to N DNTN's entry 'Counting' by Autre Ne Veut while Isconia's The Irrepressibles with 'Two Men In Love' had to settle for third, a pleasing outcome as 'Counting' was awarded 7 points by Persephonia while 'Two Men In Love' did not come close to points. The rest of the top 5 was also pleasing for Persephonian voters; Ramrynia had another success with Krewella's 'Alive' coming 4th which received 4 points from Persephonia, while 'Cameron' by Jillette Johnson which came very close to receiving Persephonian points finished 5th for Greenfroze.

All in all it was a very strong top 10, with Persephonia voting for 3 more tracks in it; 6th-placed #00274E with The Other Tribe's 'Skirts' (2 points), 8th placed Hendinia with The Good Natured's '5-HT' (1 point) and Persephonian voters' favourite track by far, 9th placed 'Down On Life' by Elliphant representing Skall. Chlöe Howl's 'Rumour' came 7th for Fljótavík, also coming close to scoring points, while the top 10 was closed off in disappointing manner by Daehunese entry 'What You've Done To Me' by Samantha Jade, providing the nation's first back-to-back top 10 hits (this was also achieved for the first time by Isconia).

Mdiče were just a point off the top 10, coming 11th with Music For Sleeping Chi9ldren's 'Georgia'; Persephonian rival Altyr Muunilinst came a point ahead of Persephonian ally Bignia-Zaragovina with Miriam Bryant's 'Push Play' 12th and San Cisco's 'Beach' 13th respectively; Persephonia itself came 14th as discussed in detail above; hosts Numayania also came top 15 with the Hitstastic Copy And Patse Remix of Petula Clark's 'Cut Copy Me'.

Juranabaijan were 16th with Booty Luv's 'Black Widow'; Kylienips performed surprisingly well with Kodaline's 'All I Want' coming 17th; Bellamia achieved a personal best with only their second qualified entry out of nine in total, Britt Nicole's 'Gold' coming a respectable 18th; perennial Persephonian faves Syndare were 19th with 'Sweetness Alive' by Goldroom feat. Saint Lou Lou; debutants Trifoski closed off the top 20 with their first ever entry 'Haunted Gold' by Curxes. They were the only one of the four debuting countries to actually make the final, though Singerpurear were denied a qualification due to an error which will not be made up for.

Avoiding slots in the bottom 7: N-Lazone entry 'Chronicles Of A Fallen Love' by The Bloody Beetroots and Greta Svabo Bech (a shock 8 pointer for Persephonian voters) 21st; 'Do It' by Ace Wilder 22nd for Kluminican Republic; Tegan And Sara not matching their 'Closer' success with Allecian entry 'I'm Not Your Hero' coming 23rd; FSR Rontvia misfiring again with Nádine's 'I Will Be Strong' returning them to the lower ranks, coming 24th.

Séyetana topped the shameful bottom 7 with 'Only You' by Katie Sky; Danaelanda performed disappointingly poorly wirth Persephonia's 10-pointer, 'Apollo' by Hardwell feat. Amba Shepherd coming 26th; 27th was Sasha Go Hard's 'Pretty Fly' representing Espen; Phildel's 'Storm Song' was 28th for Zechonia; Batidas' entry 'Tattoo' by GJan (which should not have qualified over the Singerpurear entry) rightly flopped in 29th; Aquafina scandalously came only 30th with 'Fools' by Lauren Aquilina, frustratingly close to Persephonian points; Terra Avium's return to the final after 7 straight DNQs is not a glorious one as it takes the wooden spoon in 31st place with the Bright Light Bright Light remix of Woman E's 'You Stole That Summer'. Both of their previous qualified entries also finished in the bottom two including another last-placer.

Major administrative overhaul as the map of Persephonia is completely redrawn

President Salim Zosimus, who is due to be elected to a second term as President in a landslide win in the national election in the near future, has announced extreme administrative overhaul to come into place immediately upon re-election, amounting to almost the entire map of Persephonia seeing changes.

Among the changes made are merging the former states of Sargia, Cobborado and Smithigan into a single Sargian state, merging most of the rest of the country into a much larger Carellisian state and various moves to improve state recognition of the cultural diversity in the nation.

The three states that will now comprise Sargia had been pushing for union into a single Sargian state for years, dating back to the oppressive regime of the Republic of Persephonia that had originally separated them as part of their policy of racial segregation. In fact all three states had near identical racial make-up and culture, but the Republic government identified 3 sub-groups of the majority Persephonian ethnicity and assigned each its own state, making travel between them and other states in the country nigh-on impossible.

One of the most horrific racial injustices of the Republic government was the confinement of the entire Carellisian race, which prior to their ascent to power comprised nearly a third of the population, into a tiny state in the South. Under President Zosimus the Carellisian state has already seen substantial expansion but it will now engulf the entirety of the former states of Sturginia and Davada as well as almost all of the former state of Djuritschissippi, all of which will cease to exist as their own entities. Their respective state councils all unanimously agreed to union with Carellisia (and indeed following the easing of travel restrictions following the Republic's collapse, Carellisienne immigration especially into Davada has greatly increased their influence in the region).

http://i50.tinypic.com/2wf0d38.png

The map of the new Persephonia as it will look after the overhaul

The 'Great Acceptance', as Zosimus dubbed it on its announcement, has been the most welcomed of the changes. Many of the major cities in the country are to be renamed, re-adopting their previous local names rather than Anglicised versions which were used by the Republic government. Jima in Murraii State will regain its slightly different name of Ji'ma', Robȃt will become al-Robāt, Izinau will become Ižinaú. Ryadh and Yuren are to completely change their names to the more culturally significant names of Kobbar and Jungyu, respectively.

Persephonia City which controversially remained the capital of the former Smithigan state despite being devastated by the Civil War is to be redubbed Altpersefonstatt, an Egabbaci phrase meaning 'Old Persephonia City'. Jackarta, the capital of the old smaller Sargia state, will now serve as the capital of the united Sargia and will be renamed New Persephonia City.

The entire state formerly known as Lauisiana is to change to its local name of Lauhun and in an additional part of the 'Great Acceptance' it is to have a small territorial expansion consisting of a small part of the former Corridor of Djuritschissippi which separated it from neighbouring nation of Séyetana. Lauhun is culturally closely linked to the nation of Daehun and many Lauhunese wanted to travel there, but having to travel through Djuritschissippi before entering Séyetana and then trekking northeast to Daehun was often a bureaucratic nightmare for the Lauhunese citizens. The removal of the first step is likely to make the journey much less of a hassle.

A region in the southwest of the new Sargia state is to become the Designated Native Egabbaci Sargian Territory (DNEST) - not a state for the natives but nonetheless the first time since the days of the Pristine Kingdom of Egabbac that they have had any territory of the nation they founded nationally recognised as their own. This is a move to preserve the natives' culture and give them a place to be free from unwanted influence of other groups.

Finally, the Far Island State will become the Far Island Autonomous Region to respect its political separation from the mainland. Far Island will essentially act as an independent nation, with Salim Zosimus exerting little influence on it. However, it will still be politically part of the nation, the Persephonian-Carellisienne Union of Persephonia and Far Island and as such will not be eligible to participate independently in international activities including the BuzzJack Song Contest.

The flag of Persephonia is also expected to be replaced in the near future.

Edited by Bré

The River Alexis is the longest river in East Twikandea. It starts in the mountains of Syndare, and meanders through the majority of Eastern Séyetana before finally entering Persephonia (and even then it goes back into Séyetana one more time) and is vital for most trade in the region. Persephonia would be bankrupt without it. ^_^

Also, we wish good luck to all Lauhunese citizens in crossing the vast and ever so slightly lawless and rural Dennian Plains in south-east Séyetana and formally express our insistence that any future war potentially resulting from ethnic clashes between any constituent parts of Persephonia will be looked on disapprovingly by the Séyetan Council of Elders.

Daehun is absolutely gutted that accessibility to our country from Lauhun is rather restricted by long travel. We plan to co-operate with the Persephonian government to construct a high speed rail so travelling between the two countries is made much more efficient.

You did ALL THAT rather than listening to my potentials? I SEE!

(to be fair I was going to do a post like that at some point anyway and if I didn't do it now I doubt I would find the motivation to do it for a while; I shall listen to your songs in a sec)

Amazing. When Percephonia win BJSC (you've got a better chance than Batidas, let's face it) I demand the contest is held in Kobbar. :D

Will it cost your country £3 billion to build like this hidious idea chancellor George Osbourne has dreamt up for the UK? (where the only people who will benefit the most will be the politicians :manson: )

The deal has not yet been negotiated with the Persephonians yet so the cost is still unknown. However, our government are not corrupted! We care about the local people and it will most definitely benefit the public citizens travelling no doubt!

Carellis Maps releases political map of the BJSC world

As the latest product of its new funding from the Persephonian government, Carellis based cartographers Carellis Maps have released an official political map of the BJSC World which categorises the nations of the BJSC World by the strength of diplomatic relations with Persephonia.

The hundred-plus states of the BJSC World have been split into seven ranks of diplomatic relations.

Persephonia itself is coloured dark blue on the map.

Dark green (official Jubirdia members): Aquafina, Bellamia, Bignia-Zaragovina, Daehun, Hendinia, Ramrynia, Séyetana, Umiiruka

Yellow (de facto Jubirdia members): Aeroche, FNT Nickodonia, Skall

Light green (strong political and diplomatic relations): Caerfyrddia, Camdonia, Danaelanda, D'yermak'er, Fljótavík, Jamora, Mdiče, N DNTN, Ojnoj, Palmyra, Syndare, Terra Avium, Torchwood, Trifoski, Usfland, Utopia

Orange (some political and diplomatic relations): #00274E, Alteria, Altyr Muunilinst, Federal Republic of Ashton, B.a.N.G, Dalisska, Deandria, Elëdan, Espen, Ingermanlandia, Isconia, Juranabaijan, Kluminican Republic, Kopečka, Launiça, N-Lazone, PRoJ, FSR Rontvia, Stevinia, UnoShake, Zechonia

Brown (strained relations): Batidas, Numayania, Scherzland, Unovia

Red (weak relations): Allecian, Avalonia, Budtar, Hogan-Burg Republic, Liechenstaan, Singerpurear

Beige (neutral relations): all not mentioned in other categories

Recent developments in Persephonian foreign relations have seen some changes to these categorisations. Daehun's status as a member of the Jubirdia alliance has been in heavy dispute of late with the country's leadership recently electing to leave the union before speedily returning to it. Bellamia's status within the union is also heavily questioned, with the government's recent abandonment of most of its people to relocate the entire nation to the northeast of the Twikande East continent causing widespread protests across Persephonia which have since died down. Bellamian people in the state that is now governed by the new nation of D'yermak'er are reportedly seeing rapid improvements in quality of life and the new Bellamian state is for now a much better place to live than the old Bellamia, but the move has nonetheless been controversial. Daehun and Bellamia are still considered to be core members of Jubirdia for the foreseeable future.

FNT Nickodonia have been downgraded from core membership due to taking a backseat role in its administration. On the other hand, Aeroche and Skall are being considered for upgrade to full-time members. Recent tensions with Elëdan and Batidas have caused downgrades in their diplomatic status, from 'strong relations' to 'some relations' for the former and from 'neutral' to 'strained' for the latter. Unovia have finally been moved up from 'enemy of the state' status as Unovian-Persephonian relations have gradually improved but they remain in the 'strained relations' category.

The 6 nations often informally referred to as the 'Axis of Evil' within Persephonia are still considered to be a threat to Persephonia's sovereignty; however, only Allecian is officially considered to be an enemy by the government, with Avalonia, Budtar, Hogan-Burg Republic, Liechenstaan and Singerpurear simply being 'on shaky ground'. Liechenstaan's classification is despite the fact the large majority of its land area is still uninhabitable due to the Republic of Persephonia government repeatedly detonating atomic bombs there.

President Salim Zosimus has stated that in his second term as President he will focus on improving relations with those nations highlighted as having weak or strained relations with Persephonia. "Our nation has no true enemies except Allecian", he was quoted, "and we are confident that through continued development we can mend any tensions between our nation and certain others who we have historically struggled to maintain peace with".
