April 21, 201312 yr How anyone can compare the incident today to the two you mentioned I find completely baffling. Given the ban he (rightly) got when he did the same thing playing for Ajax, it would show the Premier League up if they didn't do the same. I hope we never see him play in the PL again, I defended the guy after the handball incident against Ghana but he's proven himself to be a thoroughly unpleasant character since. Thinking that Spurs might actually make the top four now. Arsenal realistically need something against United and have to win their other three games (which I think they will), then Chelsea-Spurs is effectively a playoff for the other spot.

The Aguero and Suarez things are actually quite similar. Both acts of violence that weren't needed. Suarez's is worse, because well it's Suarez. He'll have the book thrown at him unfortunately, he deserves a ban rightly so. I just find the outrage so hilarious. He's apologised to Ivanovic and there's been some class PR from Liverpool. I'd say he'll probably get a 4/5 game ban. The problem the FA have is a massive one. Liverpool will use the Defoe-Mascherano case, and even if the referee mentions it in his report, what will the FA do? They'll probably make a special exception if that's the case. He's a phenomenal player, world-class actually. Just he has this win at all costs desire, which is brilliant, but also leads him to do some stupid stuff when things don't go his way. Chelsea will get 4th. If they get something out of the Manchester United game they should easily beat Spurs to 4th.
April 21, 201312 yr Liverpool have handled this far better than they handled the Suarez racism case. Brendan Rodgers' comments after the game were very well-judged and the club have been very quick to recognise that they have a potential PR disaster on their hands. I assume Suarez was told in no uncertain terms to issue the apology that they wrote for him. He deserves a ban until the end of the season at the very least. Six matches would be a good starting point. If they take his past record into account it should be longer than that.

I think they'll probably beat United again, which means they'll have to lose to Spurs to miss out. How is biting someone symptomatic of a will to win? It's a sign of frustration but you see those similar to Aguero's every week. It says something that you have to go back six and a half years for another biting incident.

The post-Evra situation could have been handled better, but that's why we have a proper PR structure in place. It all depends on whether the referee saw the incident, and whether or not the FA will bring out their exception rule, to which I think they will on this case because it's Suarez. I think anywhere between 4-6 matches is a fair amount. I think they'll probably beat United again, which means they'll have to lose to Spurs to miss out. Ivanovic was giving him very little all day, he was going through a drought of not scoring, and he just gave away a penalty. I've seen countless Liverpool matches, even when we're winning 5-0 and wen he mis-places passes, or his team-mates do he goes batshit. The guy is nuts, and has this desire to win. I'm not excusing him, just saying that he has moments of madness when things don't go his way. I hate that side to him, but he's apologised, and Ivanovic has accepted his apology. That's it as far as I'm concerned, and any punishment given is fine by me.

However, it is to Ivanovic's credit that he has accepted the apology. Even so, Suarez still deserves a six match ban (or more).
April 22, 201312 yr Author And he'll get a ban, I'm absolutely sure of that. The FA need to throw the rule book at somebody after the debacle over the past 4-5 weeks. Wouldn't surprise me if it's 10-12 games, which is stupid really as he got 7 in Holland, when that bite was far, far worse.
April 22, 201312 yr I don't condone what Suarez done, but I actually believe what Aguero done was worse and much more dangerous. It goes completely unrecognised how much Suarez gets attacked during a game and kicked around. I hope he manages to learn next season as he's a phenomenal footballer, I wouldn't give him anything more than a 3 match ban, it's good that he apologised straight away and even posted a poor English written tweet.
April 22, 201312 yr Much better reaction from Liverpool this time round. Hope there isn't another, Suarez is a wonderful player to watch. FA charges Suarez with violent conduct. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22250458

Wouldn't be so annoyed, but it just seems like they make things up as they go along.
April 22, 201312 yr The consistency on the Fa is hilarious, surely Aguero should be handed a punishment?
April 22, 201312 yr Author The consistency on the Fa is hilarious, surely Aguero should be handed a punishment? The Aguero thing was horrible. Completely out of the blue like the Suarez incident too. Suarez has been charged for violent conduct, and the normality is a three game ban which is acceptable and completely justified, and maybe another one/two for exceptional circumstances, and repeat offence. However there's been other incidents throughout the season, the Fellaini stuff, Hazard kicking a ball boy etc. - all got away with three games. Just can't see the logic in anymore than 4-5 games. So biting somewhere is worse than calling someone a black c**t, or breaking someone's leg. Perplexing. Wonder what Rio will say.
April 22, 201312 yr So biting somewhere is worse than calling someone a black c**t. Yeah and Suarez has never been idiotic enough to racially abuse someone.. oh wait.. I don't know why you stand up for him, he really does have some ISSUES.
April 22, 201312 yr Author Yeah and Suarez has never been idiotic enough to racially abuse someone.. oh wait.. I don't know why you stand up for him, he really does have some ISSUES. I'm not getting in to the racism debate again. What happened, happened. He had the book thrown at him once again there, whilst others have got off lighter. He does have issues, he has this desire innate ability to win at all costs. None of you have seen Liverpool as much as I have. Just YouTube the Luis Suarez Monopoly game to even get a hint of what I'm talking about. He's been in poor form since the Spurs game, certainly nowhere near the heights he hit in the 30-40 games previously. I'm not excusing him, he deserves a ban. But the "he shouldn't ever play in the Premier League again", "he should be sacked" debate etc. is quite frankly hilarious.
April 22, 201312 yr Well done to Manchester United, champions again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22149292 More worry for Aston Villa as their goal difference takes a hammering again, and Wigan have a game in hand.

Every player has a will to win, that's why they're professional sportspeople. Credit to United, they won because they can consistently play badly and still win. City haven't mastered it yet, Chelsea are on their way back and Arsenal can only do it for a month at a time. All of the big three are perhaps two big signings from demolishing everyone next season. Since they'll probably make one each, it should be some spectacle. Falcao to Chelsea, Cavani to City and Bale to United?

Falcao to Chelsea, Cavani to City and Bale to United? Emmanuel Adebayor would disagree! Can't argue with Manchester United. Think City are the better team personally on paper, but they've not mastered the fear Man United have on teams that play at Old Trafford at the Etihad. Some piss poor signings in the summer didn't help matters. Think Mancini might be gone in the summer, City need a manager that needs to instill a better mentality in them. Manchester United will probably make one big signing, Chelsea will probably make 2/3 as per, and not sure what City will do. Clubs need to be careful of the FFP this summer.
April 22, 201312 yr Garcia was a perfectly logical signing given the loss of De Jong, particularly as he's more versatile and Nastasic is going to be class. Sinclair has obviously been a non-event.
