Regarding the song writing input, they might have thought of the concept for the song and one or two lyrics but the writer/s probably actually wrote the music, melody and the framework of the song. As they get older they'll get more involved. Their main job would be in identifying submitted songs that sounded right for them and singing their parts. Personally I think they'll have Cher Lloyd success.

I can't see them doing badly for the first era at least! Capital FM and Radio 1 will definetly support it I should imagine, and 'Wings' sounds good from what I could make out.
Getting ridiculously impatient for this shit now! :drama: Just hurry the f*** up and premier already goddamnit! :(

...and that's why it's such a shame that their second single will be a dodgy choice which will just about scrape the top 10, their third single will be a DISASTROUS choice which will bomb altogether, the clear album highlights will be relegated to bonus tracks and never see the light of day, they'll get a second album produced on a budget of sixteen quid and a JLS flavoured condom, before being dropped and disappearing into obscurity.

:D

I heard it's been pushed back to late August. :( I don't know if iTunes has updated with that but the CD on their website had that date and DS was reporting on it, could mean a T4OTB premiere. Not a good sign if it's true.

It has been updated on iTunes as well, says 19th August now.

♫ MAMA TOLD ME NOT TO WASTE MY LIFE, SHE SAID SPREAD YOUR WINGS MY LITTLE BUTTERFLY, DON’T LET WHAT THEY SAY KEEP YOU UP AT NIGHT ♫

They tweeted lyrics before.

This remind me of when Mafia FM "leaked" the new Britney Spears song and we all know what happened NEXT... :o

We'll see if the hype picks up after the song premieres before making any assumptions.

They've now posted the lyrics in full on their website.

Little Mix need to continue where Girls Aloud left off. If they did, they could potentially have a brilliant album of pop juicyness on par with 'Out Of Control' which I was surprised at how good that album was.

Popjustice has done a review of the song, and it has made me SO excited! :cheer:

There’s an extraordinary Little Mix single coming out and it’s called ‘Wings’ and we’ve listened to it lots of times and this is what we’ve got to say about it

There’s an amazing pre-chorus.

There’s an amazing chorus.

There’s an amazing SECOND chorus.

There’s ‘a good beat’.

There’s gloomwobble.

There’s a strong whiff of various different types of Aguilera.

There’s an outro so astounding that it will probably be the best outro of any song to be released this summer.

There’s enough intense greatness in this song to launch Little Mix in at least eight countries that aren’t the UK.

There’s a structure that goes tiny instrumental intro / chanted version of the chorus with sparse drums in the background / first verse (includes gloomwobble) / pre-chorus where it drops out / chorus where it drops back in / second chorus where the song explodes into amazingness / small post-chorus into shorter second verse also with gloomwobble / pre-chorus / chorus / second chorus / breakdown / chorus / second chorus / amazing outro.

There’s a very on-trend anti-bullying message to the whole thing, but it feels like a really breezily defiant and carefree way of addressing it without being too ‘cry in your bedroom and only feel happy when you’re wearing a rasher of bacon on your head at a Lady Gaga concert’ about the whole thing.

There’s a chorus lyric that goes: “Mama told me not to waste my life – she said ‘spread your wings, my little butterfly, don’t let what they say keep you up at night, and they can’t detain you, these wings are made to fly’.” But the ‘fly’ bit goes “FLYYYYYYYYY” and leads into the second chorus, which goes: “We don’t let nobody bring us down, no matter what you say it won’t hurt me. Don’t matter if I fall from the sky, these wings were made to fly.”

(There’s a distinct likelihood that we’ve misheard the ‘detain’ bit to be honest.)

There’s a slight problem with the “these wings are made to fly” line which doesn’t quite work because wings are usually attached to something to make the thing fly. Wings don’t tend to exist to make themselves fly. We suppose this does not necessarily apply to something which is ‘all wing’, for example a hang-glider or a nighthawk stealth fighter, but we don’t think the song’s supposed to be about those things.

There’s a bit where they go “shhh” but they really mean “shit”.

There’s a “HEY HEY HEY HEY” bit.

There’s clapping.

There’s a strong chance this will be Number One until the end of time so the Official Charts Company might as well begin the voluntary redundancies right now because there will be one less chart position to do the sums for as of August 22.

Apparently their uploading the lyric video tomorrow so we should hear the studio version.
Popjustice are very notorious for hyping songs like they're the second coming. They normally turn out crap :P

Not quite what I expected from the description...I do really like it but it's basically a Ricki-Lee single from five years ago (looking at you Can't Touch It).

I actually love it, proper love it. Saw it on Popjusice (it's not QUITE 'the best girlband single since Call The Shots', especially since GA have done better songs than CTS) just now and have had it on repeat since!

It is VERY Can't Touch This but I'm very very impressed. Very different.
