johnny belinda bjsc 168

So 167 managed to bring us our 10th worst result of all-time which was unexpected, however grateful to have qualified. This month, we throw back to 2011 with what is personally one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Active Child returns to represent Aeroche with “Johnny Belinda”, a haunting and dramatic ballad of love. Active Child previously found podium success with Jadakissnia, can the stroke of fortune be repeated?

how's it gonna be? bjsc 169

BJSC 169 is live and direct from Aeroche this month following Active Child's triumphant win - his first win on his fourth attempt at the contest. This results in a landmark 15th win for us and the first win since aamourocean's "Parmi Les Mortels" in BJSC 141 - nearly three years! To celebrate, we've sent a recent track from one of our favourite contest discoveries, Swedish electronic songstress REIN. Following the pulsing danceability of "Electric" and the manic stabs of "OFF THE GRID", we present "How's It Gonna Be?" - a sultry, pulsating electropop number reminiscent of Christine & The Queens. REIN has an intimidating track record with both of her previous entries landing in the Top 5. Can "How's It Gonna Be?" go all the way and give us the double? We hope you love as much as we do.

full way round [ewan mcvicar remix] bjsc 170

BJSC 170 is a big one. BJSC 169 brought us another Top 3 in the form of REIN, which was our 5th Top 5 of the year and our 6th Top 10, plus retained Aeroche's ranking at the top of the YTD scoreboard. However, it's not set in stone, as juggernaut nations Hendinia and Bøtanikkä are chasing our tail in the Top 3 and are equally as ready to take the YTD crown. We like a bit of healthy competition, so we've decided to go big with a "Born Slippy"-esque remix of Leftfield's "Full Way Round" featuring the vocal talents of Fontaines DC frontman Grian Chatten. A track from their 2022 album "This Is What We Do", Scottish DJ and former Aerochian representative Ewan McVicar gave the track a ravey overhaul to bring you a big closing moment for the end of the 2024 BJSC year.

Can this keep up our hot streak? In a pop-filled semi, we're unsure, but we hope that you get a great discovery out of this the same way we have!

Really strong entry!

I promised Leww I'd post this. The chorus lyric melody of this reminds me of the instrumental hook in Moving On Up by M People so I asked Rave DJ to do its thing and wasn't disappointed!

jess bays & hayley may // can you? / bjsc 176

Following their previous Ben’s Sanctuary BJSC collab “Colourblind” and Hayley’s solo effort “Want U” for Dobago this year, Jess Bays and Hayley May team up again to represent Aeroche in BJSC 176 with the addictive club track “Can You?”. Already becoming one of the most-played songs in the country this year, we hope this can be a return to form after the nation’s underwhelming 39th place finish last month.

sim0ne // space cadet / bjsc 177

Two months of more generic dance entries has been a BJSC curse, so in BJSC 177 we're returning to the Aeroche you're used to. Candy rave beats and vocals, Scottish representation and a 90s sample spun into gold. After a year of generally not matching odds expectations, could this "space cadet" be the one to take us to the moon?

How I'd been reading the name as "Sim one" lol! Anyway, you're on quite the hot streak (for me anyway) right now, liked every one of your entries so far this year 🙌

SANTA // dis-moi oui / bjsc 178

Another swerve this year for Aeroche in BJSC 178 - we've gone for some absolutely addictive Bonnie Tyler-meets-Celine Dion 80s influenced stadium French pop from French chanteuse superstar SANTA. "Dis-moi oui" follows both success for Aeroche in last month's final and a huge couple of years for SANTA in her home country... can it be followed up here?

1111 // wicked & crisp / bjsc 179

The people didn't want as much pop from us, so it's back to usual. Aeroche swerve again with some dark garage from former sister-country Kluminican Republic representative 1111 with the banging "Wicked & Crisp". Now one of the highest-played songs in the nation this year, this one has the Aerochian vibe at its core. We hope you love x

DOVE & kehina // chroma 009 kr36 / bjsc 180

After a comparatively middling year, it felt fitting that the way to end it was by going all-out with that Aerochian sound with something a bit different to the past few months. Aeroche are happy to announce that the representative for BJSC 180 is none other than electronic legends BICEP, releasing under their DOVE alias and joining forces with the stunningly talented Kehina to bring you "CHROMA 009 KR36", a track from their recently released and compiled CHROMA project. It may not be the most in-your-face entry and we understand that it may be a bit more of a risk in the bigger semi finals, but we hope the crescendo swell of synths capture the audience and hopefully bring us a good result for the end of the year. We hope you love!
