The 59p should benefit Kylie this week and possibly Alexandra Burke. Coldplay and Rihanna will benefit but not from a new peak position i dont think. Gary Barlow is holding up remarkably well this week, i anticipated a much sharper decline at this stage. People are obviously taking more to the song now.

Ah, but after what happened last time, their record company probably figure it's worth losing a few thousand early sales to fakes, in order to maximise their first week total...

If payphone was to release now it would miss out on #1 to Cheryl, the best shot it has at #1 is releasing Sunday, regardless of how well the fake is doing. They want that #1!

Last time it was held back for 2 months though. It was released everywhere else in the world ages before, and I heard it on Radio 2, Heart FM and BRMB (one of my local stations) pre-release (plus, as much as I like Christina, there's no way she or Maroon 5 were relevent enough at the time to debut at #3 in the charts without pre-release airplay). So this release isn't any different to how it went last time, just Maroon 5 are "on the map" again, so Capital and Radio 1 are playlisting them early this time.

I disagree - quite a few of the fake sales will be by mistake, so they're likely to buy the real one when it comes out anyway.

 

Also, releasing it now will hurt, perhaps fatally, it's chances of going #1.
