The Katy Perry parallels are quite uncanny, although she seems to be having her "Starstrukk" / "If We Ever Meet Again" moment a year early with "Good Time".

It does beg the question whether the world wants another Katy Perry.

Here's a live performance of 'Guitar String / Wedding Ring'!

New (promo?) single "This Kiss" has been released to iTunes. Listen.

Thats quite catchy, better than Good Time.
Oh it IS good! And very good at that too. I think I'm (finally) won over to the idea of a Carly Rae (pop) album! It took me a while, especially after the weak Curiosity EP, but this is three amazing songs in a row now. Popjustice's review was very good and gave me high hopes, but he does enjoy overhyping his latest flavour of the month.
It is apparently the second single, so catchy and could easily be huge! Really really like it, could be one of the best albums of the year if it's all amazing shameless pure pop like this and Call Me Maybe!

'This Kiss' is AMAZING! Carly is just releasing constantly brilliant material! Really can't wait for the album! :cheer:

This track is really good. Not as good as Call Me Maybe but then again, that'd be hard to top.

Definitely purchasing this album when it's out.

My favourite pop star. Ever.

I've just listened to This Kiss and found myself on the verge of tears are how LAUGHABLY AWFUL it is. I mean, SERIOUSLY. It's like the hellish chant of a clutch of demon children.

I actually wasn't mad on this at all yesterday but even though I don't think I like this too much I'm oddly addicted to it?

It's flopping on US iTunes (#35 right now) which worries me a tad about how the album will do (this being a good indicator of how big her fanbase is) but I still think it should open to OK numbers.

It was #270 yesterday for ages. It's doing well.

She has 3 songs top 40 on iTunes right now. That is not flopping.

Although her label have reduced the first week sales forecast to 75k, down from 100k.

CALL IT MAYBE: Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/ Interscope album, Play, comes out Sept. 18 with label forecasts confirming pre-orders, placing it in the 75k sales range for opening week. That seems a small amount for a release that has already produced 6.7 million downloads of the hit singles “Call Me Maybe” (5.5m) and her collaboration with Owl City, “Good Time” (1.2m), both of which are included on the album. The new single, “This Kiss,” was released today. Jepsen will tour with fellow Canuck Justin Bieber this fall. (9/10p)

This is easily my most anticipated album of 2012. CRJ is perfect, she has amazing talent and she's so cute!!

Filling my Diana Vickers void definitely. I think This Kiss is something she'd bring it out.

I agree, 'This Kiss' is doing so well so far! I really wasn't expecting it to take off this quickly with no airplay or anything, just Carly's twitter! I'm not expecting 'Kiss' to be massive, I think 75k would be brilliant would that get it a top 10 placing in the US? I'm not sure how many albums are sold over there!

I see lots of comparisons between Carly and Diana, that must be why I love them both so much!

75k would be top 10 with EASE, certainly at this time of year anyway. Possibly enough for #1 depending on what else is out that week, but probably top 3.
