Glaring mistake. Not one of the 60 I know but shown in one of the short sequences, Killer Queen was not a UK No.1.

25. Elton John - Candle In The Wind 1997

24. The Police - Every Breath You Take

23. Beyonce feat. Jay Z - Crazy In Love

22. George Michael - Careless Whisper

21. Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

so 11-20 consists of:

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Blondie - Heart of Glass

David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes

Soft Cell - Tainted Love

Human League - Don't You Want Me

Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?

Madonna - Like a Prayer

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You

Take That - Back For Good

Spice Girls - Wannabe

Results tomorrow night!

Some great songs today, Going Underground, Nothing Compares 2 U, Wuthering Heights, Every Breath You Take & West End Girls  Surprised but really glad to see What a Wonderful World do so well, particularly ahead of Gaga & Rihanna!

Bryan Adams? Really?

I know it was #1 for the whole of 1991 and everything but it really is an awful song and I really wouldn't have thought people would vote for it these days.

That's how I feel about the borefest that is Candle In The Wind! :arrr: although I obviously understand why it was so big at the time, but its not really aged well. I guess they both hold a significant place in chart history, plus I still hear Bryan Adams a lot today

Kylie Team of course. :D

Well, not quite the whole of 1991...

Interesting that the list of most popular #1's is not *that* closely correlated to the list of highest-selling #1's...

I was suprised to see Vogue not in the top 20. Jailhouse Rock could have been slightly higher, A Whiter Shade of Pale and Candle in the Wind 1997 should have done better. But the biggest suprise was Louis Armstrong of course.
Who thinks like me that Adele will be No.1 then? Shouldn't be as it's too recent. Hope it's Queen myself. The odd one out for me in the Top 10 is Britney as you don't often hear that being called one of the best songs of all time.

The odd one out in the top 10 is Whitney... WTF? I hardly ever hear anyone praise that song, in a similar way that the other 90s movie diva-ballad My Heart Will Go On is looked back on as a bit of an embarrassment. I bet if it had been done last year or next year it would be much lower.

The winner will be Imagine probably. It did win the last time this was done with a TV poll, I think, but that was on Channel 4.

I'd imagine if it wasn't ran so soon after she died, I Will Always Love You wouldn't be in the top 10.

Wow... I also think that the odd one is Britney, but when you see the results of the poll here (I have just voted for "Billie Jean"), I'm very surprised... ;)
