Posted July 13, 201212 yr Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers is massive all over Europe (#1 in Germany this week) and brilliant. Given airplay it should be a big success here. Where should it peak in UK There is an acoustic version by Belgium rockband Triggerfinger (#1 in Belgium & Holland) but it's not a patch on the original. Born Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zachrisson; 18 March 1986 in Ystad), is a Swedish singer-songwriter. Her music often blends elements of pop, indie rock and electronic; various instruments can also be found in her songs, including violins, synthesizers, tambourines, trumpets, saxophones and cellos. July 13, 201212 yr The success of this is completely baffling. It's a wonderful song but why has it suddenly caught on over a year after it initially came out? The Magician Remix?
July 13, 201212 yr It's big because of the Magician Remix: oS6wfWu0JvA If I remember well it did well in Germany also because the song appeared in football related programs during the Euro 2012.
July 13, 201212 yr Its the year of the remixes :o I love this to follow on from Florence, its a great remix.
July 13, 201212 yr This is seriously dumb. I mean the song is 1.5 years old. If this song gets released in the UK then I can safely say that Britain are SUCH bandwagoners to the point it's EMBARRASSING now (hai Gotye).

July 13, 201212 yr Yes, I do like Lykke Li, but this has no hope of doing anything. Get Some and Sadness Is A Blessing are far superior anyway.
July 13, 201212 yr Pfft!!! I seriously considered entering this into BJSC last year but went with the worst entry ever and rightly got my first DNQ purely because GD won BJSC with a much lesser song by Lykke Li about 3 months earlier. Anyways, ever since The Magician remix took off in Greece, 'I Follow Rivers' seems to have slowly become a hit in various countries since, and that happened a year ago.

Sadness Is A Blessing is gorgeous, packed full of emotion with a great melody and excellent Wall of Sound style production. In my opinion this is the much lesser song but each to their own, I doubt it would be a hit here so late on, is it even looking likely to get any support/a re-release or was this just a random 'this could be a hit with promotion' topic?
July 15, 201212 yr I think it's a great song... She deserves success, even if it's just an old song..

Didn't Glee Cast do a cover of this in series 1 (in 2010?) that raised the songs profile in the first place. I always assumed it was the Glee cover that made this song popular (a bit like 'We Are Young') but the fact it's taken so long to really take off in some countries is mind boggling. Mind you, didn't it take DJ Casper 'Cha Cha Slide' 3 years to become a hit in the UK? It was in the US Billboard Top 100 in 2001.
July 15, 201212 yr I heard the Magician remix in Jack Wills ages ago! Was a complete 'WTF' moment but I really hope it can have some success in the UK even if we're bandwagoning as usual.
July 15, 201212 yr Yeah, Glee covered it (it was Season 2 though), it was abysmal though even though I love Jenna Ushkowitz (who plays Tina, the character who sang it). It did seem many fans had no idea what it was though, so it did help. Incredible song though, should by rights be huge (remix or no remix) although it's too late and the UK hardly ever follows the rest of Europe for big hits anyway, and if we do then the song in question gets no higher than something like #33 unless the song is a real obvious hit, which sadly this isn't. July 15, 201212 yr Lykke Li / I follow rivers is also a big hit in France (#4), Netherlands (#3), Belgium (#1), Switzerland (#35). Edited July 15, 201212 yr by barthezz
September 6, 201212 yr Lykke Li / I follow rivers is also a big hit in France (#4), Netherlands (#3), Belgium (#1), Switzerland (#35). Nr. 4 in Ireland, nr. 2 in Switzerland and Austria. Maybe there is a hope that it will be release in the UK.
September 8, 201212 yr It should be a massive hit, but unfortunately this sort of musc doesn't really sell in the UK.

If this song gets released in the UK then I can safely say that Britain are SUCH bandwagoners to the point it's EMBARRASSING now (hai Gotye). This is nothing new. Back in the 80s and 90s there'd always be hits in Sept that had been hits during the previous Summer months where demand was created by holiday makers returning home and wanting to find a song or songs that sound tracked their holidays. And it's hardly embarrassing.
