If we're talking about the US I think the VMAs can have a pretty big effect, they sent "Love On Top" rocketing up for Beyoncé and "Dog Days Are Over" for Florence to name just a couple that stick out in my mind. I'm doubtful you'd notice an effect in the UK.

She's performing at the iTunes Festival at the start of next month but I don't know if that's on TV, it's a month long event.

The VMAs had a great effect on Paparazzi in the US if I remember correctly...
But did you see that performance? It was EPIC and remains, possibly my favourite live performance EVER. I think the VMA's benefit the songs with "iconic" performances more than just standard, favourite song sort of performances. (If that makes sense).

It HAS to be something special, or it won't do anything.

That performance was one of my faves also! Gaga has hinted there will be lots of movement (Applause dance routine from the video?),but I'm hoping for something special like Paparazzi, she should rise to the ocassion tho! Can't wait! :D

THIS HAS GROWN ON ME AT AN ALARMING RATE. I think I enjoy this more then any of her singles from the BTW era.

Me too!

I agree.

The 2010 Brit Awards performance is the only one that has bettered the Paparazzi VMA one for me. Just shows she doesn't need to go ALL OUT all the time to impress, because that was special.
I've been watching the video again and there was an article posted either in this thread or the ARTPOP one that I'm beginning to think is very accurate - that being the one about Gaga being "happy" in the video. It's really very different to see the brief expressions that show that she's actually enjoying making the video, and I think it's an indication of a newfound maturity in the woman. I think looking back, some would say from 'Alejandro' on there was a bit too much self-consciousness in Gaga - that's to say that she thought she knew what was expected from her and directed all her efforts at doing what she thought she should. However, while 'Applause' has a lot of the things that made Born This Way videos what they were (an excess of ideas, difficult-to-comprehend scenes), it feels more like that just happens to be what she wants to do rather than what she thinks people want her to do. I'm liking the new "I'm doing this because I actually like it" Gaga, hopefully it stays (and / or I'm not just talking out of my arse (which I probably am)).
No.9 on the official UK chart and back up to No.4 on US iTunes (VMAs effect)! Whoop whoop! :D
She was great at the VMA's! And I finally "got" the dact that she's spalling ARTPOP at the end of the song
It was a stellar performance! What a way to open the show! So glad it's having an effect on itunes, just can't believe Miley Cyrus of all people can get #1s on itunes with such ease and not Gaga...

Did anyone listen to the chart and to her interview? What did she say, did it come off well>

I've got to see this perf. Was it amaazhing?

It was really, really good! She didn't need to do a Beyoyo and let the backtrack take over during the choruses whilst she danced! She did them both, well! I've got halfway through Justin's performance so far (and he's smashing everyone else to pieces) but she's definitely been my favourite from what I've seen other than him.

I won't waste my time watching the performance of HIM - I can bore myself without help from his ego!

I've watched hers though and it was :DDDDDDDD

Haven't seen Katy Perry's yet though. I assume it was just like her usual performances though.

Just seen a really poor quality video of the performance and it looked very very good.

Fantastic performance. After rapidly going off the song to begin with I'm seriously back on board now. Fantastic choreography and she really didn't compromise on those live vocals, unlike a certain Kitty Kat who also took to the stage.

You know with a performance like that, I'd also just leave some time afterward, just to show the rest how it's done etc. The music industry really needed her back like this and that performance rightfully manifests what a quality pop star she is.
