I guess there's no harm in starting this topic - Olly announced at one of his live shows at Edinburgh Castle last week that the 3rd album (as yet untitled) has a tentative release date of 26th November. In his newsletter that was sent out today he said the following:

I've been back in the studio this week with some new writers - album three is coming along REALLY well. We potentially have a single contender which I am VERY excited about so stay tuned! I've really enjoyed being back in the studio after touring, it's something I never thought I would be able to do - but I can't believe I am now third album in!

Writers he's been working with so far include some of the writers from 'Olly Murs' and 'In Case You Didn't Know' - namely Claude Kelly who he did 'Please Don't Let Me Go' and 'Dance With Me Tonight' with - they wrote and recorded some stuff at his studio in New York while Olly had some days off from the US 1D tour, and he's been writing again this week with Samuel Preston (yes him off the Ordinary Boys) and the Metrophonic team who did 'Heart Skips A Beat'.

He's worked with some new writers - he's been in the studio with Ed Drewett who of course has his own amazing material but is perhaps better known as the writer of The Wanted's 'Glad You Came' and 'All Time Low', he worked with Steve Kipner/Andrew Frampton (The Script, Natasha Bedingfield) and also Toby Gad in LA (who did 'If I Were A Boy' for Beyonce, 'Broken Arrow' for Pixie Lott and 'Love You More' for JLS), and he Tweeted this picture whilst working with a writing team called The Nexus yesterday, one of whom happens to be David Sneddon who won Fame Academy 10 years ago. (Now I feel old):

He also confirmed in an interview for a US site this week that there's gonna be a track on this album called 'One of These Days', of a similar vein to 'I Need You Now' on the last album. It's a great interview and I'd recommend reading it, if not for his answer to which film he'd compare the 'In Case You Didn't Know' album to.

Oh and as I'm sure you might have all seen he has a book coming out in October called 'Happy Days'. Dean Freeman who did both of JLS' books, Michael Buble's book and the Spice Girls' American tour book has done the photography for it. It's kind of a recap of the six years leading up to now with loads of new photos in between. The cover looks wicked! Hope he does some signings for it:

I do like a bit of Olly, his second album is superb. I am hoping the third is at least as good as it.
Excite! Obviously he is super sexy but his debut is fantastic, and his second was pretty great as well, he rarely puts a foot wrong  Hopefully he sticks to roughly the same sound though, rather than going more American. HSAB is progressing on radio so he shouldn't need to.

I can't let the 'foot wrong' comment slip without posting this again:

   Precisely why we love him though! 'I'm alive, it's alright'!

He's hinted that the 3rd album has more of a Jamiroquai, funk led sound on it - so I'm thinking something like 'Your Game' era Will Young which he would sound AMAZING doing!

God no, please no Jamiroquai sounding stuff i cant stand Jamiroquai. I do like Ollys music, his debut was good but incase you didnt know was even better so i hope he sticks to what is and has worked for him, i think the third album could do at least aswell as he previous 2 in terms of sales as he is still as popular as ever.
Very, very excited for this. Really hope he adapts from the 'Heart Skips A Beat' sound (despite it being far from my favourite song of his). I think he's built a really nice sound doing that sort of song. It suits him as it sounds so fresh, but still has that retro-y feel to it in which he excells at. Also I still think it sounds very British.
I don't think the album will do well. Unfortunatley, the album market has gone downhill and there is too many albums that will be aiming for the top spot.

I hardly think he is going to go from two albums selling around 700K to having a third underperforming.

And surely every album aims for the top spot?? :/ kinda the whole point of releasing.

It's only gone downhill because not much is released right now, Q4 album sales are always much higher anyway so it'll be fine. He's always been a consistent album seller anyway.

That comment didnt make sense. This will have very similar sales to the last two i'd say, maybe even a little more like his second one outsold his debut by a bit. What are the sales of those two at the moment?

'Heart Skips A Beat' is still his only properly good song for me, but I'm thinking it was a fluke and he'll never do anything that good again. I hope he can though!

I think he's a very talented live performer/singer but the majority of his music is so limp and MOR.

I really like a bit of Olly, and I never expected to. His material has just got better and better imo. I'm seeing him live in March so I'm looking forward to hearing a bit more of his new stuff since he's bound to perform some of it/most of it there.

Olly's been back filming some segments (with and without Caroline Flack) for 'The Xtra Factor' audition and boot camp episodes today and yesterday, so he'll still be on the show before the lives in October. And speaking of which...

I'm so proud...bring on the new single! :D

It sounds nothing like anything Michael Buble has done... Not even 'Have I Met You Yet' or 'Hollywood' type commercial hits. What an odd comparison... but each to their own.

Olly has just basically dropped a massive hint that he'll be playing some new stuff for the first time tomorrow at his show at Kempton Park racecourse. His tour plugger Paul Fitzgerald has Tweeted saying he's heard the new single too and that it is 'massive'. I need a lie down from the excitement of it all, quite frankly. :D
