He should be out in the US promoting his international hit 'Heart skips a bat' instead of rush-releasing a 3rd album in the UK... dos he thinks he's Rihanna???

What, so she's the only one allowed to go an album a year? Double standards much...

Now the postponing of 'In Case You Didn't Know' in US becomes more apparent: 'Right Place Right Time' (albeit with a different tracklisting to the 3rd album we're getting) is Olly's debut US album now. Released December 3rd, 'Troublemaker' will be 2nd single out there.

I do rather get the feeling Olly and Epic back here are putting up with Columbia in the US being all truculent and throwing US rent-a-rappers at his songs just to keep them happy but 'Troublemaker' is meant to be very good indeed (or at least going on what Claude Kelly who co-wrote the song told me on Twitter yesterday - it's definitely not a dance-y/clubb-y record but is uptempo) so we'll have to wait and see.

Elsewhere...two new promo pics have emerged. Looking very suave!

I hope Olly like many before him does not make the mistake of concentrating on the American market only to discover that his existing UK market has diminished. Olly is and has done so well for himself in the UK that it should remain a priority. I look forward to the new material as i have enjoyed his previous 2 albums and i hope he promotes himself just as well with this album as he did with the last 2. Third albums can be notoriously difficult and in many cases are the album that see an act lose their core fan base and as a result by the time album number 4 gets made no one cares for the act anymore. (Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, The Kooks are just some acts that spring to mind).

No I think Olly's sensible enough, he's still got a massive UK tour of arenas in UK and Ireland here next year, he's got his book coming out next month and he's back doing Xtra Factor with Caroline again, and his main focus is still here. Unfortunately the US seem to think they can piss him around into what they want!

I am delighted Olly is returning for Xtra Factor as i truly believe it has aided his promotion of the last album which i hope will happen again now with his upcoming 3rd album.

It looks like Heart Skips A Beat is now dead in the US, after rising to roughly the #80 position last week it has now plummeted out of the top 100 again and it's airplay is decreasing.

They probably had it pulled because their focusing on "Troublemaker" now.

Not quite...he's been out there again since Monday and he's doing a bit more promo for it at radio and TV for this week and next and he'll be on Good Morning America next Friday as well. Basically if it still doesn't take off after these next two weeks then 'Troublemaker' will be the focus.

I've obviously made my issues with Columbia and how they're handling Olly very vocal in the past and much as I can't wait to hear 'Troublemaker' it rather feels Olly and Epic back here have added Flo Rida on to it just to keep them happy.

If they actually listened to the US fans that the majority of which want Olly in exactly the same way we and Europe have had him - i.e. with Rizzle Kicks on 'Heart Skips a Beat', same videos etc then he might have actually broken the Hot 100 by now. Instead they seem obsessed with trying to package him and Americanize by throwing their below average rent-a-rappers at his songs.

He even said last month it wasn't his decision to replace the Rizzles with Chiddy Bang on 'Heart Skips...' and that it was theirs because they told him bluntly 'UK rappers don't work in US'. What about Tinie Tempah's success he's had out there? He proved that a US audience is interested in UK rap artists with 'Disc-Overy' and 'Written in the Stars'.

To be brutally fair, I do think Tinie's success was more to do with his song being used as a WWE theme song and Eric Turner's chorus. His album didn't do well and his second single pretty much flopped.

I've always had a feeling that HSAB was going to do a 'Lights' and hang around the top 100 for months before eventually crawling up the charts but now i'm not so sure. It seems odd how he's fallen more than 20 places on iTunes in the space of a few days after being stable for over a week in the #80's.

'Heart Skips a Beat' enters at #96 on Hot 100 this week. It's a start I guess! :)

OK...so what Olly was shooting on Friday WASN'T the 'Troublemaker' video but was instead the THIRD (yes, you read that correctly, THIRD) version of the 'Heart Skips a Beat' video...

I'm failing to see what the point of a 2nd US version of this is or how Columbia thinks this is gonna work or indeed, what the point is when 'Troublemaker' is all ready to go? Here's a crazy idea - give the US fans the original with Rizzle Kicks that they all want just as we have!

Hmm, the video is private.

Yeah...it was meant to be held back as an exclusive for a webchat Olly's doing for Z100 in New York at 10pm UK time tomorrow and they obviously released it too early...and people wonder why I've been saying Columbia are a terrible record label? This is why.
