I also would really like to see fun. get a second big hit in the UK. It's already doing really well in Australia and New Zealand (just like how 'We Are Young' started). Could well be a future top 10 hit in about a month's time once radio airplay kicks in, and the video gets more airplay.

It's also top 5 on US iTunes, but US radio are scared to play it and so are sticking with Payphone, Call Me Maybe and Wide Awake <_<

I think that whoever gets number 2 on Sunday will climb up to number 1 the following week.

Isn't 'How We Do (Party)' finally released next week?

If anything whoever ends up at #2 might hold there whilst the no. 1 drops to #3. Sure wouldn't be the first time since 2010 that this has happened in the UK.

I hope so. :D

I've completely underestimated this "chart battle" as it looks like it's going to be close all week. We'll probably see both singles decreasing at the same rate towards the end of the week.

Yeah they might decrease at the same rate, it's like they were increasing at the same rate as well. Probably they had the same type of promotion too.

In a fortnight

Some Nights  #135

Getting a little radio play. Can't wait for it to explode!

It better :smoke:

Jesus, this is right down to the wire! on another note, wonderful to see Caliban's Dream top 5, its a really excellent and unique piece of music and would be a great top 10 hit

It is indeed excellent, that and 'And I Will Kiss' are both great compositions - such a shame the latter is album only as I'd imagine it could have been quite high up the itunes chart also. 17 minutes long and it doesn't drag even once for me.

Hope it's at least another top 10, not quite as good as WAY but they are far too good as a band to stay a one hit wonder and this is a great song!

Think I'm going to have to buy this album, already bought Come Together and Abide With Me...

The Elbow track fits in perfectly among the tracklist too, it would have been great at the opening ceremony. FAR better than this Muse/Delphic TOSH.

(The Chems' track is tolerable though, I imagine it would sound GREAT being blasted out for the cycling - kind of appropriate that it's Kraftwerk influenced too)

I don't mind the Delphic one, though it's nothing on the four singles from 'Acolyte'. The Elbow song is lovely, a shame it can't chart. Downloaded the Chemical Brothers one, it's decent enough.

I hate US pop radio sometimes. Where Have You Been and Scream are at sitting #20 on iTunes for ages, yet they shoot up the radio charts for weeks on end, and then you've got other songs like Some Nights, Pontoon, Too Close that are doing amazing on iTunes, even though they're being played on the radio much less, but they still don't seem to get the message... Although Some Nights actually got a good pop update today, so they might be giving in and playing it now. Maybe top 10 on the Hot 100 this week.

Calvin has had a fair bit more radio airplay, but Wiley has had a little bit more TV airplay, so similar overall. Calvin and Example have advantages though, in that they're familiar faces in the chart.

It makes no sense! We complain about the Hot 100 being too slow, but it's only because the airplay charts do not move for weeks! The only way a song like Some Nights can be big now is if it maintains a top 5 position on iTunes for months while US radio catches up to the trends. Gotye, Carly and fun. (WAY) managed it, but it won't always be the case so they should start supporting the songs earlier. It's just like Capital FM :drama:

Some Nights  #130 - Buzzjack effect! :w00t:

Two weeks - Ronan Parke's released next week so he'll knock whoever's at #1 off. [/dream] :kink:

It's good that they've included streaming in the chart, since it really helps most of those songs that do really well on iTunes that pop radio refuse to play (e.g. Mercy, Some Nights, etc.), and most of those songs that pop radio overplay even though the songs do hardly anything on iTunes (e.g. Scream, Where Have You Been, etc.) also do badly on streaming usually.

Didn't he get dropped?

Didn't he get dropped?

Yeah, but he got signed to another label and is releasing a new single on Sunday (which is AMAZING).

Ugh, I hoped I'd seen the last of him - the musical equivalent of a 14-year-old Chinese gymnast.
I still haven't forgiven him for murdering my all time favourite song :(
