Pretty random question but could someone explain what is meant when people refer to the iTunes chart as a 48 hour rolling chart?

The iTunes chart doesn't show a full weeks sales but always the past 48 hours' sales or popularity (but in this case we think popularity = iTunes sales, am I right?)

Thought youd like that one eric!!

Yeah, thanks. :) I wish I listened to the station back when it started.

Eric, I'm pretty sure you're thinking of 'Lonely Sky' by Ben Hazelby and Jamie Hazelby feat. Chris De Burgh - which didn't miss the top 40, but it came pretty close (#36). I remember you saying the other day it was a charity song :P IIRC ChartJackers' 'I've Got Nothing' (also a charity song) did the same, top 10 on iTunes then #36 officially. I'm pretty sure Bieber's 'Turn To You (Mother's Day Dedication)' is the lowest peaking recent song to go top 10 on iTunes though.
Dizzee Rascal looks like he could actually break the top 10. Wish he would of come back with something stronger than Scream though.
Ooh, what's with the sudden climb for 'Scream'? I've finally heard it now and I quite like it. I hope it can still go top 10.

The video has only just been released in the last couple of days.

I remember there was a song last year or in 2010 that went top 10 on iTunes and completely missed the top 40. I'll try and find out what it was later.

Was it Linkin Park's cover of Rolling in the Deep? Not certain if it actually got top 10, but it was definitely close

No, that stalled at #11 on iTunes.

^ Shame Alex Clare isn't looking to get another hit from this album, though he'd given up on a music career pre-Internet Explorer Ad, so I'm sure even one hit is enough to have him pleased to bits - and the album hasn't done too badly either. I do like 'Treading Water' though, so it'd be nice to see it chart somewhere, if not perhaps a new song will see him enter the top 40 a second time.

I hope I'm not completely late on this but pepper is the same one from Must Be The Music Pepper & Piano, which Dizzee mentored

They had a Top 10 with this little number:

'You Took My Heart' was a beautiful song, I can remember how shocked I was when this got to about #2 on iTunes or something I think? At least top 10 anyway!
Reading this just brought another suggestion to mind. What about Lethal Bizzle - Pow (Forward) it got to #11 officially so maybe this is another song that was top 10 on itunes but not officially.

Back in the early days of iTunes it was probably very common for songs to go top 10 there and miss it officially, since it had a much smaller contribution to the overall chart.
