One week to go until the nominees are announced. Exciting times.

One artist I'd love to see nominated but probably won't - Eugene McGuinness with 'Invitation to the Voyage'.

I love how "Coexist" is third favourite and it's not even out yet. Labrinth could be the surprise mainstream nomination and Vaccines are in with a shout although they won't win.
Late inclusion for Cian Ciaran's 'Outside In' would be as totally unexpected as it would be fantastic.

I'd like to see Cate Le Bon on the list and Jessie Ware not on the list

Andy Gill on the Independant newspaper website suggests a certain ex-X Factor contestant be nominated.

This is what I THINK the list will look like:

Alt-J, Bombay Bicycle Club, Django Django, Florence + the Machine, The Invisible, Jessie Ware, Kuedo, The Maccabees, Portico Quartet, Richard Hawley, Sam Lee, Sweet Billy Pilgrim

Django 2x for the win please!

After XX and Let England Shake do we expect a less predictable winner this year?

Here you go:

Alt-J – An Awesome Wave

Ben Howard – Every Kingdom

Django Django – Django Django

Field Music – Plumb

Jessie Ware – Devotion

Lianne La Havas – Is Your Love Big Enough?

The Maccabees – Given to the Wild

Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again

Plan B – Ill Manors

Richard Hawley – Standing at the Sky's Edge

Roller Trio – Roller Trio

Sam Lee – Ground of its Own

I'd like Jessie Ware or Ben Howard to win, but of the realistic candidates, Alt-J would be a fine winner.

does that link work - I'm on my phone.

Hate to say I told ya so about Ben Howard. Glorious album. Still need to listen to the La Havas offering.

New odds from William Hill:

Richard Hawley - 4/1

Plan B - 4/1

Alt-J - 5/1

Django Django - 5/1

The Maccabees - 7/1

Jessie Ware - 7/1

Ben Howard - 8/1

Michael Kiwanuka - 8/1

Lianne La Havas - 8/1

Field Music - 10/1

Roller Trio - 10/1

Sam Lee - 10/1

Pleasing to see my favourite album of last year and my favourite album of this year nominated. A good shortlist all round really, no one I dislike even a bit which is highly unusual, though I've not heard the token folk and jazz albums but that's the same as every other year.

I'm guessing the fact that everyone has relatively short odds we can call the Speech Debelle effect
