October 9, 201311 yr Ha! Brilliant. Really excited for this. The original is one of my favourite films ever for its simplicity in approach, but I never really understood why people find it so scary. It's a girl with telekinetic powers who goes on a vengeful walk around town, sure, but it just sounds too much like a background story of any X-Men character to be scary. I find the most terrifying thing about the film to be the image of her cold anger after she's had the blood drop on her. Always gives me the chills, plus the final scene really makes me jump! It's conveyed quite well in the book as well.
November 17, 201311 yr I really hope this does well in the uk, really looking forward to it and there's been a lot of hype
November 20, 201311 yr Does anyone know if this Is getting a wide release In the uk? The vue in Donny don't usually get limited screened movies (eg. In fear last week) Edited November 20, 201311 yr by vivek
December 3, 201311 yr Author It was enjoyable but nothing groundbreaking. I had a feeling it'd be rubbish and nothing compared to the original, but there was a slight element of fun and a certain charm to this (if very OTT at times). Julianne Moore was incredible as the mum but Chloe is too pretty to pull off Carrie White though.

I think Mortez tried her best and did some very good acting until she went a bit OTT at the prom facial expression wise. Her mum was creepier in this than in the original and Julian Moore did a very good job of it. My friends wanna go see this so hopefully it's still theatres in 2 weeks time. Was pretty packed when I went on Saturday night
January 4, 201411 yr First time ever seeing ecranisation of the book and this was a bit... unsettling.

January 27, 201411 yr Just watched this one. Not a patch on the original, granted, but it's not half bad as a remake. Chloe makes the most of it and Julianne really makes Margaret her own. I felt their approach was a tiny bit patronising at times, with a few cliches inserted for good measure but that didn't really distracted me from the story. [for movies that are patronising and so overly clichéd that distracts you from the story please watch Mirrors and Oblivion. I liked how they intersected the slow dance scene with her perspective (in awe for her night and for this guy) and his perspective (making sure she's enjoying her time and guiding her into their world). I thought it was a very effective scene in regards to the two characters' synergy. Another good scene was the first telekinetic blast Carrie unleashes on the crowd. Impressive and scary. From then on it was a little OTT like it has been said here. A downside to this movie is Billy. He was extremely poorly written as a [hey kids look! it's a proper] bad guy, and the actor didn't help his cause. John Travolta must be appalled. Christina wasn't that great either. Comes across more like a D-lister from Gossip Girl than anything else. And her sudden thirst for actual blood, anyone's [that pig scene wtf!], was a little bit baffling. Tommy I felt was better than the original version. A little more down to Earth, and there was genuine care in his ways rather than just doing whatever his girlfriend tells him to. Speaking of, Sue was good but not half as focused as Amy Irving made her appear in the 1976 adaptation. All in all a good exercise of a remake but it doesn't really justify its release. http://jjjernigan1.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/3-stars.gif
