Posted August 24, 201212 yr It appears that there's interest in running this chart. The regulations are few. Albums released in the UK since 1 Jan 2000 are eligible for inclusion. Voters must list their favourite 30 (or fewer) albums. Ideally the albums should be ordered best to worst and points will be allocated accordingly. If someone chooses not to order their list, all their albums will recieve 15 points. Regarding genre : When a general concensus is reached in the thread regarding which artists/genres are deemed appropriate for the chart, the outcome of this discussion will be stated in the opening post. Vote in this thread. There is no nomination part. Voting will stay open until 23:59 Sun 23 Sept. If I've missed anything obvious, let me know. Votes for Nickelback will result in a 2 year ban. August 24, 201212 yr I could probably do this, I do like a fair few alternative albums, except my definitions may blur in places but oh well :P
August 25, 201212 yr Sounds good to me, would 2012 albums be eligible or is it too early to allow them in yet? August 25, 201212 yr Is there a definition for ''alternative'' because the lines are blurry ever so often.

August 25, 201212 yr Author There was no restriction regarding genre but voters were encouraged to be sensible about the matter. Albums by Ed Sheran or Adele would be considered beyond the scope of the chart, for example. I'm unsure if Back to Black would be eligible.
August 25, 201212 yr Author There was also the theory that even if an album was a pop album, it would be eligible for the chart if enough voters voted for it. However, on CHC the chart was unlikely to be hi-jacked by pop loons and we never found ourselves with Sugababes ir Britney albums in the chart. The most pop album I can remember was Scissor Sisters.

August 25, 201212 yr "Back To Black" SHOULD be eligible in my opinion, it's origins are in 60s soul which in itself quite alternative IMO. Yes it was popular, but that shouldn't be a barrier to this chart because sometimes great records do sell a lot. Adele's "21" is a little more difficult to justify.
August 25, 201212 yr Author It's certainly not for me alone to decide what is eligible so discussion is welcomed.

Back to Black was/is critically aclaimed by indie/alternative press. 21 was not. If we use that as a yard-stick we could be accused of music snobbery, though.
