SO MANY Von Trier's just outside the list - Dancer, Melancholia, Breaking the Waves... I think it's the setting of Dogville that gives it the extra goodness for me. Smashing the figurines </3

Loving all the Pixar  They can do no wrong. I won't reveal my favourite, because it's still to come in my countdown :kink:

12 Angry Men is a smasher too, so brilliantly crafted! Love most of these (and i have to mention the old lady/bus scene in The Orphanage... I literally screamed so loud when i saw it in the cinema :drama:)

Okay, I know you only said "a lot" so I suppose this is an exception that isn't there for rewatchability. Like a few others amongst my favourite films, it's one I doubt I'll ever watch again. Harrowing doesn't even come close jesus christ.

I'll make a list shortly, though I won't rank them. While many inclusions could come make my taste seem, um, pretentious and hipstery, I've got very little actual ~art of cinema~ knowledge and there's plenty of 'must see' films of yesterday that I haven't got round to watching yet; my list is extremely 21st century.

ahh yeah not one i could watch again easily but that ending had such an impact on first watch. the whole concept too was very clever (and that certain scene as bad as it is is so vital to the whole thing (if not a bit too long!))

Jake there are some GEMS in there. Never would've taken you for a Bring It On fan for some reason. I SAID BRR IT'S COLD IN HERE

(p.s. Up sucks)

All my favourite movies are only not serious things in style of "Just My Luck", "Josie and the Pussycats", "D.E.B.S." ...

Lindsay Lohan is my favourite actress and it explain all.

I don't think, that anybody here have any interest in my full list.

Gosh @ having a top forty. Mine change all the time...

The only constants are Fight Club, Kill Bill, Spirited Away, Mean Girls & Girl, Interrupted.

There are some fantastic films in there that'll probably be in my top 40 too - but gracious me - I'm going to have difficulty in trying to get a top 40. Think I'm going to have to break it down into genres - then decide which genre can have more in than others. I'll probably go on films that I've chosen to watch again and again.

Very nice post!
