Okay, I guess there isn't a better way in "breaking the silence" but to comment new Robbie album. ^_^ So, this is an opinion based on previews only (minus Candy, obviously)...

Be a Boy - Does nothing to me... Just ok, but still way better than Sh** on the Radio and Hey Bla Bla Blah, of course...

Gospel - It's good one. And it actually may work nice as 2nd single. It'd be much better choice for that purpose than Different.

Candy - Song for a kindergarten. Sure, it can be catchy and it's cool to catch it on a radio, but that's not Robbie I like.

Different - I totally agree with Sparkle at this one, it's reminds me on Robbie's song, but I can't figure out which one...

Sh** on the Radio - Useless sh**.

All That I Want - Slightly better than Be a Boy...

Hunting For You - Quite good tune, want to hear the rest...

Into the Silence - Now, that was the love at first reading of the song title. Seriously, the title sounded like something I'd like for sure. Also, it was love at first listen. I agree with Sperkle again, this have U2 written all over it, which is really great thing. He MUST sing this live, MUST! Should be a single definitely, but I doubt he'll pick out that move.

Hey Wow Yeah Yeah - Hey, what?  :puke2: Totally a song not for a b-side (because Robbie's b-sides are great), but for a f-side (which doesn't exist, and so should this song)

Not Like the Others - Read Be a Boy description...

Losers - If it were a Robbie's song, I'd say good, but I don't like covers, there's not enough effort in this, so I think I'll pass it most of the time.

Reverse - Have that potential that it can be very listenable on my speakers. ^_^

Eight Letters - Seems like Robbie's version is more minimalistic (only piano there, right?), and that fact I don't like in this case.

Overall, at first listening all songs seemed the same (of course except that beautiful Into the Silence), but now I'm starting to see a difference more. Though, this album already sounds overproduced, which most artists do nowadays and it can be a bit annoying. He didn't do that in Into the Silence and song is great right away.

Welcome back Nada :cheer: :cheer:

I enjoyed reading some of your comments on the songs

Sh**t on the radio - useless sh**

Hi Nada. Welcome back ;)

Another vote for Into the Silence. Then again, maybe not surprising as Nada likes U2 as well.... :P

It sounds good but not amazing. Certainly doesn't sound like every song could be a single. Alot ofsynthpop/RKTVS style. Doesn't really sound like Escapology like he had previously stated. Into The Silence sounds great though. Really like Gospel too. Both should be singles.
I'm refusing to listen to any more clips. And I'm reserving judgement until I hear the whole songs.
Be A Boy was played on Radio 2 today. It's a good tune. Listen back at about 1.55 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ng20r

Thanks De Niro , I like it ,

I think I am really going to like this album, looking forward to downloading it on Friday . I have been listening to the previews again, some real nice tunes in there

BBC 2 just played Into the Silence. It's different from what I would expect when I heard only preview, but still beautiful.
Really loving 'Into The Silence' - one of the best songs he has written in years. Verses on Shit on the radio are good but the repetitive chorus lets it down. Hopefully they play 'Gospel' tomorrow as it sounds like it may be my fave so far.

Oooooohhhhh. Temptation. :(

I think I will have a listen to this one track -_-

Awwww man. That is so good. It'll be my favourite song on the album. I know that even without hearing the others. That is truly a Jupsie song. Love it. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Robbie Williams top in midweek charts

Robbie Williams, whose current single 'Candy' is No 1 in the midweek sales charts, will release a brand new single 'Different' on Island Records on December 17.

His new album 'Take The Crown' will be released next week, November 5. In an early review of the album the rock magazine 'Uncut' wrote that it was ' pure pop ' the songwriting is impressive throughout'.

On the day of the album release Robbie will be turning on the spectacular Christmas light display in London's Oxford Street. He will then be signing copies of 'Take The Crown' in the Oxford Street branch of hmv at 7.30pm*.

'Different' was produced by Jacknife Lee, who says of the track - 'I think when Robbie gets a song right it's the vulnerability mixed with bravado that makes it so compelling.'

Robbie says of the song; 'it's the great hope of the second single variety! A lot of effort went into this song, which is a very personal statement'.

The video for 'Different' was directed by Wiz.

It's a brilliant album. I wouldn't say it's similar to 'Escapology' like he had suggested a while back - it's very much the logical follow up to RKTVS and of all the albums is more similar to that than the others but it's much more commercial and has more 'big' songs and potential hits. Quick review.

1. Be A Boy - really strong opener - great lyrics, music, melody - like the Coldplay sound off this one. 9/10

2. Gospel - love this one - such a strong melody and some great hooks. A lot of work went into this one I bet - love the drum intro and it's got an excellent chorus. Very PSB and 80's but also a very modern sound to it. Love the last line too " Drink to you you always wished me. And those that won't - go f*** yourselves". 10/10

3. Candy - bubblegum pop. Meaningless, repetitive and annoying but it's selling by the truck load and is going to #1 and that was obviously it's intention. But I think it's one of his worst ever singles. 5/10

4. Different. - I think it is by far the best song Rob and Gary have written together. Like the follow up to 'Heart & I' in a way. Really classic Rob here lyrically and melody wise, and fair play to Gary - really good music on this one - live the opening and the acoustic parts. A really really good tune and a worthy second single - 9/10

5. Shit On The Radio - a bit throwaway but very catchy. Strong verses but I think the repetitive chorus let's it down a bit. Could have been better. 6/10

6. All That I Want - really strong song - possible single. Nice U2 vibe off it. 8/10

7. Hunting For You - love this one. Top lyrics and vocals here. Really rich melody and the music fits it so well. 9.5/10

8. Into The Silence - my fave on the album. An amazing track. So atmospheric and brilliantly produced. It's got that magical U2 sound to it and I am sure Jacknife Lee has a lot to do with that. Would be amazing live. 10/10

9. Hey Wow Yeah Yeah - classic rocking Rob here - lots of noise, guitars, shouting etc - parts are excellent but some of it gets a bit annoying. If any songs here is similar to Escapology it's this. Should be great live. 7.5/10

10. Not Like The Others - vintage Robbie here. Sounds like it was written with Guy Chambers.. 8.5/10

11. Losers - love this and the folky/Springsteen-esq sound to it. Only bad thing? It's a cover. It's a shame Rob didn't write it as the lyrics suit him so much.

I shall give you my opinion on Monday night -_-

Think we will have the same fave though ;)

hey guys, i also think TTC is great album, maybe his best since Escapology.

And Into The Silence is song what I've been waiting 10 years since Come Undone. 10/10, of course

I will try to write some thoughts tomorrow but before it I want to learn the lyrics better...for me it's a little bit hard to do immediately because English isn't my native language,,you know )

I need to listen to it some more as well before i comment on it, LTAL & Sing WYW were my favourite albums up to now , TTC is definitelty up there with them, it's fresh & different & takes you on a musical journry ,I love it so far :)
