Thats what I am thinking as it didn't really chart outside of the UK and Ireland right?... It was released all over Europe, Asia and South American though, I remember buying it in Italy on holiday lol So it probably did get around 100,000 sales which is so low overall... No wonder she got dropped..

overall, an injustice as the album was great

I knew the album had sold 150,000 copies worldwide, so that's a pretty accurate number, not a lot, but considering the media was against her...

did she even promote much outside of the UK?

There's a new article in the Daily Mail about how Music licensing companies have been requested the song a long from Universal, including to be featured on ads and movies, which is wild. I would hope Victoria wouldn't be so mean as to stop any of that licensing happening - at the end of the day, she would get money from it at least....

but more so interesting about the article, it states that the album has sold 100,000 copies worldwide. I blieve this is the first time we have any information on worldwide sales of the album?

It also doesn't seem very far fetched. It is a low number overall specially for Worldwide figures.

Wasn't NSAIG on Love Island UK last week? I don't think Victoria is stopping them now...

I remember being really embarrassed to buy Victoria’s album from Woolworths when I was 13, but I pushed through and got it. At the time I loved Midnight Fantasy and I Wish and thought Victoria was mad for not making them singles.

So happy for this little Victoria renaissance, I’ve been listening to the album all week.

Nice and stready

Oh, if only it would be released on vinyl! It would be a dream to have all of the solo albums on vinyl (and expensive x), yet we have so very few of them pressed... and both Victoria and Geri feel so unlikely as they both seem to feel negatively about the idea of it.

I wonder if anyone at Universal/Virgin has thought about a VB vinyl release? Based on them pressing both Melanie C's 'Reason'* and Emma's 'A Girl Like Me' in recent years, I imagine the label would be open to it as a limited run, but it would all come down to Victoria giving it her approval.

* Even though this pressing was lazy and cheap without using the original artwork...

If they go ahead with the VB vinyl without that album cover ( considering how cheap they went with Reason, I can see they just go with the logo).....we need to go to LDN and burn down the UMG office

Reason and A Girl Like Me had originally sold more than 100,000 copies whereas VB's was half than that and I don't see it being a possibility until now.

I think the song going viral and back in the download charts might open the possibility.

Would love to be wrong and Universal is probably going to announce both HOT and VB + special editions of Free Me and Life in Mono back to back for this year's Record Store Day!!!

It'S OUR TIME GIRLIES!!!

This is the only chart that matters. What streaming? IDK

Also, Headlines was official peaked at Number Three, this way too.

Well on pure sales Headlines was definitely #11 heh, the #3 was if it was only physicals while disregarding downloads!

Headlines will always be a flop... and sadly, it scared the shit out of them forever

Oh well, it really was a big flop. People didn't even want to support charity because the song sucked so bad.

The fact they had a song called spice is back and didn’t use it. Idk why they thought headlines is what fans wanted.

You never know, it culd have been even worse lol only Mel C liked it apparently and she was out voted

The fact they chose Headlines and Voodoo doesn't necessarily fill me with confidence they were making great music back then. I know with those two they were trying to recreate their 90s sound, but it just came across as bland and generic.

Headlines could be great if it brought in a bit of a new sound for them:

  • It was a bit more rocky like the live version, their sound but brought to a new soundscape to showcase growth...

  • Mel C's verse was like a post-second chorus bridge

  • Mel B was given a solo

  • Victoria didn't take the lead in the chorus (she straight up sings most of the second chorus herself lol)... she doesnt sound great at all and we know it was given to her because she was the biggest star at the time.

  • The lyrics werent so lovey-dovey (so not them!)

I fell down a Spiceworld hole on YouTube earlier and it has to be said Victoria is an underrated comedic actress. She delivered all of the best lines! cheeseblock

"It's dry clean only Melanie!"

"I'M VICTORIA, MALCOLM"

"Shut up!"

"Sunday drivers! It's only Saturday"

"Hold on to your knickers girls!"

I feel like there are loads more but bratcheeseblock The scene where she refuses to commit to the army costume and comes out in a camouflage dress instead, then dodges all of the assault course! tearsmile I seriously need to give this film a rewatch.
