A POSH Spice impersonator has been flown into town to cash in on the buzz over David Beckham's visit to Sydney without his famous wife.

Camilla Shadbolt punked punters and the paparazzi waiting for the soccer star and his LA Galaxy teammates to arrive early yesterday.

As Becks jetted in on a private plane, the 26-year-old copycat, who has been playing Posh professionally for nine years, came on a commercial flight from London on a stunt mission for a new online gossip site.

The lookalike drew stares when she strutted like the Spice Girls star along Woolloomooloo's Finger Wharf, lunching far from anonymously at Salon Blanc.

Although being Victoria Beckham doesn't pay as well as the real thing, Shadbolt told Confidential she recently fooled media in Los Angeles, who followed her wherever she went.

"Literally everyone out there thought I was her. I was getting mobbed wherever I went,'' the former arts student said.

"It was really amazing to see how much attention they actually get. It's quite scary at times, because you've got loads of cameras in your face.''

Keeping up appearances has cost Shadbolt almost $100,000 over the years in twice-weekly tanning treatments, acrylic nails and faux fashions.

The expenses, however, have been more than matched by the perks - which include world travel, designer clothes and all the trappings the celebrity couple enjoy.

Meeting the man she pretends to be married to hasn't yet been part of the package - but Shadbolt, like most of Sydney, hopes she `"might cross paths'' with Becks this visit.

It may not be a friendly meeting, however. The Beckhams sued Shadbolt earlier this year, saying their reputation has been damaged by the "blagging" spree she and David Beckham lookalike Andy Harmer went on in LA.
