On this "Marina Diamandis" thing, we've been using her real name, because people were allowed to nominate females who had fronted bands like Gwen Stefani and Shirley Manson or Florence Welch etc.. So to avoid confusion (well it wouldn't have been confusing ) people were just writing down the real names for artists. (If that makes sense )

No, that's Carrie! :D

Kelly C's fab though, her greatest hits has made me revisit some of her fantastic songs such as Behind These Hazel Eyes and Because of You.

US - Yes, well maybe (I've not had chance to follow any of Carrie's US success). But WW (more important :kink:) is definitely Kelly.

So gutted Kelly has come so low. Was hoping she'd have climbed a place or two higher considering her 'Stronger'-era was in full swing around the time this started :drama: (Pleased she's still top 10 though!)

Prediction:

01. Rihanna

02. Pink

03. Katy Perry

04. Britney Spears

05. Beyonce

06. Madonna

07. Lady GaGa

08. Kylie Minogue

The only thing I'm certain of is a Rihanna victory (well, it's got to be, surely?)

07| Pink - 641 points (2-3-7)

Falling out of the top 3 for the first time since this chart began, Pink drops 4 places to #7. Prior to the rate, Pink's most recent single 'Perfect' was the 2nd from her Greatest Hits album released in 2010. 'Perfect' as well as lead single 'Raise Your Glass' were very successful worldwide. More recently, Pink released her 6th album 'The Truth About Love' preceded by lead single 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' which was her first UK top 3 hit since worldwide smash 'So What' back in 2008. The second single 'Try' has also been very successful and Pink is currently in the process of releasing 3rd single 'Just Give Me A Reason' which features Nate Ruess, the lead single of one of 2012's biggest breakthrough acts Fun.

08| Madonna - 601 points (11-9-8)

After a long-awaited comeback earlier this year, Madonna released her 12th album 'MDNA' in March 2012. The album peaked in the top 3 of many charts worldwide. Lead single 'Give Me All Your Luvin' featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A charted well worldwide, yet only just sneaked in the top 40 in the UK. However second single 'Girl Gone Wild' was less successful - especially in the UK only charting at #73. 3rd single 'Turn Up The Radio' was not a success only just managing to chart in the top 200 in the UK.

Ha! They've thrown my prediction completely out of the window! LOL.

EDIT: and Ryan, excellent commentary btw

05| Katy Perry - 721 points (12-4-5)

After a massive album campaign for her 3rd album 'Teenage Dream', Katy Perry stays in the top 5! The album has so far sold over 5.5 million copies worldwide and peaked at #1 in many charts including the US and the UK. The album and its re-release 'The Complete Confection' has provided an incredible 8 US top 3 hits, 6 of which hit #1! Also, 7 of the 8 singles also made the UK top 10. Katy has confirmed that she is currently writing her next album following 'Katy Hudson', 'One Of The Boys' and 'Teenage Dream' which is expected to be released in Summer 2013!

06| Kylie Minogue - 716 points (7-10-6)

Kylie Minogue climbs 4 places this year to a new peak of #6. She has so far released 11 studio album, the most recent being 'Aphrodite' in July 2010 which charted at #1 in the UK. This album spawned 3 top 40 UK singles 'All The Lovers', 'Get Outta My Way' and 'Better Than Today', the former reaching #3. Kylie also released a special celebratory one-off single 'Timebomb' to commemorate 25 years in music which gave Kylie another UK top 40 hit. More recently, Kylie has released a compilation album entitled 'The Abbey Road Sessions' charting most successfully in the UK and Australia at #2 and #7 respectively.

So? There are shitloads of artists on this rate that don't use their proper names. Rihanna, Robyn, Madonna, Lady Gaga, the list goes on. Why is Marina the only artist to be stripped of her stage name?

GO GURL

03| Britney Spears - 824 points (8-5-3)

The megastar that is Britney Spears climbs 2 places to a new peak of #3 this year! Britney has so far sold over 80 million albums worldwide. In 2011, Britney released her 7th studio album 'Femme Fatale' which reached #1 in several countries and top 10 in the UK. It was Britney's 6th US #1 album, the other 'Blackout' peaked at #2. 'Femme Fatale' provided 3 US top 10 singles with the #1 'Hold It Against Me', 'Till The World Ends' and 'I Wanna Go' as well as a single release for fan-favourite 'Criminal'. After a fairly quiet start to 2012, Britney was announced as a new judge alongside Demi Lovato on the second series of The X Factor USA. She is currently working on her 8th album that is rumoured for release at the end of 2013! Also, very recently she has collaborated with Will.I.Am on his new single 'Scream & Shout' which has so far been a massive success worldwide including peaking at #2 so far in the UK. It is one of the favourites to get to #1 in the first chart of 2013, so will Britney get her first UK #1 since the incredible 'Everytime' back in 2004?

04| Lady GaGa - 735 points (1-6-4)

Despite a quiet year for Lady GaGa she climbs 2 places to chart at #4. After two massively successful albums in 2008 and 2011 respectively with 'The Fame' and 'Born This Way', she is currently getting ready to release 3rd album 'ARTPOP' next year. Lady GaGa has so far achieved 11 US top 10 hits and 8 UK top 10 hits including worldwide smashes 'Poker Face', 'Bad Romance' and 'Born This Way'. From her two albums including the re-release 'The Fame Monster', Lady GaGa has sold over 21 million albums, over 3.5 million of which were in the UK.

So, it's Beyonce versus Rihanna! :o

I want Rihanna to win. :cheer:

I think Gaga's quiet year has actually been good for her on here - I imagine the 2011 drop was due to the Born This Way backlash?

Britney's rise on the other hand is far harder to explain but I'm not complaining!

GO BEYONCÉ. Rihanna's great too though. Kylie should've won out of the top ten though, with P!nk second.

Yeah that's a good point actually. Looking back the BTW album kind of isolated her fans from the general public, even if it did do very well as an era. Hopefully the next era has something for everyone again!

Of the two remaining, i'd rather Beyonce did it personally, but i don't think its a contest against the might of Rihanna!

Rihanna is my preferred winner at this point, and I find it hard to imagine her losing. I'm baffled as to how Beyoncé is as high as #2 though, she hasn't done a thing this year (barring 'End of Time' bombing at the start of the year IIRC?) and I didn't even know she had non-Theo fans on here.

Rihanna ftw please, I love Beyonce too and I know she has her fans her but for some reason it always surprises me that she's so popular on here, to beat Lady Gaga, Britney and Katy Perry.

HOW did Kylie get this high though  She's not terrible but I really don't see the mass appeal in her, she isn't as good as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney etc. and she's certainly not better than Madonna or Queen Kelly in my opinion. Very surprised but glad at Marina 11th though

Amazing that Beyoncé is top two for another year! *.* Rihanna is the clear winner, but I'm glad my fave is up where she belongs - who knows, she could be slaying RiRi next year after the almighty SuperBowl half-time show!
The final results will be announced in the next 10 minutes!! :cheer:
