Yeah sure it has but that's work too, he's not a presenter and he has to work hard on that and fit it into his hectic schedule. When he finished X Factor he performed in most of the towns and cities in the UK before releasing PDLMG just like any fledgling pop act would. He doesn't use his personal life to get into the papers or slag anyone off to raise his profile. He goes to bed early on a work night and he puts research into tv appearances, so he's very professional and deserving of his success.

This. And if you read his book 'Happy Days' or at least some of what was serialized of it he spoke about the fact that this time last year he initially struggled and was depressed from exhaustion because he didn't have a break after 'Heart Skips a Beat' went to number 1 - he was worried about how people were gonna take the rest of the album and was starting the live shows of Xtra Factor too which is why his manager Sarah suggested he take a week off.

My benchmark with anyone who says Olly isn't a real artist or in it for the music is to go and see him live. He has a 10 piece band with him who really bring his songs into their own (including two Brummie guys called John and Darren - they used to be back up vocals for Alesha Dixon and they're just an absolute ball of energy who complement Olly so well vocally and in stage presence) - and Olly takes some really choice cuts like the medlies he did on the first two tours of Madness, Stevie Wonder and James Brown.

I think Xtra Factor may have helped his profile but only a little. The fact he sold double the amount of tickets for the tour this year compared to last year and likewise with the album shows how A) his popularity is growing and B) what people love him for most - the music.

All very true, Olly doesnt rely on slagging or shagging to sell his records. He is a happy go lucky boy next door style person who comes accross very well. That said there is no denying he has worked hard to build the career he has. Olly is lucky as no one else around really has the same sound as him plus his singles are always very catchy. To my knowledge his second album has sold around 120,000 more than his debut done and the second should eventually make triple platinum. With the initial success of troublemaker it indicates his third album should sell quiet well, not sure if he will get to number 1 but in a worst case scenario his third album will manage double platinum, ideally i would like his progress to continue and this to become his first million selling album. There is no doubt Olly is the most relevant and successful x factor act at the moment and i include Leona in that, while Leona's sales have decreased on each release, Olly has increased.

Still number 1 in today's midweeks and 28,000 copies ahead of Girls Aloud who are at #2 at the moment...insane! He's actually said in an interview today he feels a bit guilty for it selling more than the girls cause 'Something New' is for 'Children in Need' but he said he likes their song too so it's all OK. I knew it was gonna do well but I didn't think it would do this well. So proud, just hope it can hold on for Sunday!

Yeah it's like his X Factor performance, he would still have been number 1 without that. Xtra Factor just keeps his profile up. But he does loads of tv and radio anyway. He's not doing Xtra Factor next year to concentrate on promotion, he can't do all the international stuff he wants and has to turn down gigs like the Capital and 4music ones.
FINALLY clicked, thanks to the Cutmore mixes <3 not having Flo Rida makes this song much better. Wish I could get a decent mp3 of the solo radio edit though.
Flo really doesn't add much to the song, so I don't get those people who say they prefer it without him... But whatever... if he had a whole verse or something as well as the part he does already have, I'd understand. Sometimes I think people just like being ignorant to rappers being on pop stars songs. :P
His presence interupts the flow of the song for me. I prefer him on his own songs (as long as Sia or J-Lo are on them :P)

Officially #1 having shifted 121,000 copies this week! G'WAN OLLY! :)
I was hoping for more copies, but that's a really minor niggle and it's still done outstandingly of course and it's a 4th number regardless, well done Olly :D
Good going Olly :cheer: at least one of my X-factor hotties releases decent music that does well. (yes MATT, I am looking at you)

He's performing 'Dear Darlin' from the new album on Xtra Factor tonight too :)

He got extremely decent sales and is still selling big into his this third album which hasnt happened yet with an x factor act, well done, i hope the album can open on similar sales or higher next week.

He was never beating Cheryl's sales, she's a singles artist whereas Olly is an album artist as well. Alot of people are like me and just wait to get the song on the album. Fingers crossed that Olly does the double this week, I think the single is the one most likely to let the side down, don't see him losing out in the album chart.

So this is out on US iTunes from tomorrow. Doing extraordinarily well in Australia too I notice, #4 on their iTunes. However given Columbia have pissed around with his US career more times than Kate Moss has had hot dinners it's debatable whether or not this will take off. In my waters I don't think he'll end up releasing the album in America A) with the fact of it being pushed back so much and B) with him admitting this last week he's not really enjoying it out in America now. In fact it wouldn't surprise me with the Robbie tour support slot next year if they take the sensible move of consolidating the fanbase he's built up back home and also in Europe. I know most of his own European tour dates in April are almost close to sold out now, particularly in Germany.

I was looking at the Columbia website and Olly isn't even on there yet 1D are, hmmmm. Troublemaker will do better than HSAB but they don't seem to know what they're doing. 1D sold themselves via internet fangirling. However many copies Olly does sell will purely be down to that.

WHAT? You're kidding? He just needs to leave them now and go sign to another US label that will pitch him at the right market and the right audience. Preferably say Atlantic who look after Michael Buble who's a big supporter of Olly's.

Yeah he was on there while he was on tour with 1D but since HSAB flopped they've done a rejig of the layout and he's not there. Tbh I think he'll just give up if it doesn't happen. But Troublemaker will be a much easier sell with the Maroon 5 vibe and Flo Rida feature, I don't think that will translate into album sales though considering it's out in April unless he releases DWMT or something else before. If it doesn't get on the radio then he probably should just consolidate his fanbase in Europe like Robbie. I think he should work a bit harder on Australia where Troublemaker is already doing well but he's an unknown. Plus spend more time in Germany and Switzerland instead of wasting his time in a tough market he might not be cut out for.

Well his European tour is for all of April so how he's gonna promote a US album out there...and I dunno. I just feel so bad for him cause he's worked so bloody hard this year balancing his touring commitments with Xtra Factor and making this new album - hard work which has paid off cause of the success he's had this week with Troublemaker and Right Place Right Time - and I think he enjoyed America initially but since Columbia did what they did with HSAB (i.e. f*** it up and not promote it at all) this has just added the pressure on him and it's knackering him out, you can tell from his recent interviews he's not happy with the way things are going over there and that he doesn't really like being away so much. I said right from the start that him being thrown on the 1D tour would do him no favours and I've been proved right because so far all they've done is tried to mould him into their 6th member and turn him into a plastic puppet like them.

Plus new Robbie dates are always being added and more for his own tour like Bournemouth. The way I see it, he had a nice holiday road trip going all around America and he did alot of writing over there anyway so there was no harm. Didn't like him playing 2nd fiddle to 1D though.
